Played through on hard mode. I think I about had a nervous breakdown during practicing this game so much, I don't ever remember playing such an awkward and absurdly difficult Final Fight brawler style game- this really is a harder game than Streets of Rage 3. And it's nowhere near as good. Given that this was Acclaim's first in-house developed arcade game, when viewed against the general quality of anything they produced, this game's general mediocrity is hardly surprising.
I do love the hideously campy shuffle walk, and the really cheese moves that try to mimic Turtles in Time (when Batman kicks the guy straight into the screen, or uses the grappling hook), and the one-liners are pretty awesome.
But seriously, even on easy, this game is painfully hard. Don't torture yourself unless you are extremely good at these games and have a ton of patience to learn all the weird quirks in this one. It can be fun if can dedicate the time do that :)

I like how accurate Batman’s model is in the character select screen then you start playing and the yellow emblem gets stretched out and looks like it’s even on the cape
Yeah, the yellow emblem being his whole chest threw me off.
Well, one thing's for sure, the game is better than the 16-bit Batman Forever game. Not saying much though.

One of the first games I played as a kid. This, Die Hard Trilogy, Tomb Raider and Crash Bandicoot in 96/97
For an Acclaim game that's on the PS1, it's surprisingly okay. While the controls are questionably a challenge to get through, the graphics and gameplay are really smooth. One problem is that it may be too fast paced, which might overwhelm you and the entire screen chock full of enemies. If I have to give Acclaim credit for is that the loading time isn't very bad.

Yea, I have no clear memory about this game. But the visual is the only thing that somewhat feels nostalgic to me.
It would be better if they slowed it down to the speed of Batman Returns on the SNES. The gameplay here is way too manic and fast.

Is this the only Sega Titan Video arcade game to get ported to PlayStation? Was kinda surprised to see it released on PS1 considering it was made for what was basically a Sega Saturn arcade board.

I've actually seen and played the real arcade cabinet of this, about 11 years ago at a condo on the coast of Georgia. The cabinet was dedicated and similar to the NBA Jam machine.
I will certainly be playing this before I play that SNES/Genesis game everyone considers horrid. :)
I had this actual game on PS1 back in the day, traded it back in bc it's shite. I was at a retro game store just last week, this game is selling for 130 bucks. yes, I'm salty, but screw the retro game market!

This game or Spider Man Maximum Carnage? From a gameplay stand point they look pretty identical. Game may not be that great but consider the alternatives, the only 2 beat em ups better than this game on PS1 were Fighting Force and Gekido.

Mortal Kombat Trilogy for me. That of which was a dope game, save for the AI being ridiculously difficult, to the point where it was virtually impossible to beat the game without cheating of sorts unfortunately.

This game was frustratingly hard. I always played it with a friend. And even with two players, we never managed to get passed the level with the helicopter. It was insane.
I beat it after a thousand tries. My momma didn't raise no quitter. I hated the migraines I got from staring at the screen.
I cheated lol, with one player I waited until it was game over then started fresh with 2nd player 😅

This was a fairly okay port of the game, and slightly better than the Saturn's version. That being even if it was still a bit off, and definitely still not perfect at the same time by any means though.

Yeah it's pretty hard to find. The arcade cabinet was only produced in a small run, so game collectors have snapped this up as an accessible way to play it, so there's not a ton of cheap copies in the wild.

o re,e,ner tjat ga,e for ps1 my nightbour girlfirend have it this game when we was kids real the ps1 was for her brother but her family buy little games for him and for her and she have some games with i think tomb raider or something with some girl she walk on some rooms and swim on some pool and was funny bc she was naked that i remember for one of the games what that girl have and her brother have that badman game but me and that girl we playing more that game for batman for that i rememer that game with batman more and i remember i think that game with batman was so amazing for the graphics bc lol first time in new ps1 games was something big for this old days but now i not see her for so much time i think maybe now she have ps4 but i dont know the best thing is for this old times this game with batman on ps1 was the best :D

Even worse than I remembered it. Awful graphics that have aged very poorly, terrible colors too, and beneath the surface it's also fairly poor technically: no parallax scrolling, bad scaling that makes sprites highly pixelated even at a distance, very few frames of animation, excessive speed, characters that slide around rather than walk. The latter details also impact the gameplay negatively. Those special moves are ludicrous even by SchumBat's standards.
At least it seems they ported it quite well on the PS1, considering it originated on Sega's ST-V hardware, but it's of little consolation.

Maybe bad,but it's a fun game
The arcade game was pretty well made though. Shame that neither console could faithfully re-create the game on it all the way, despite the horsepower which the PS1, and Saturn had, which should have been a breeze too, but apparently not.
I loved it. I had the PS1 version. It felt like I was at pizza hut playing the old arcade games, where I played the old Mortal Kombat and Street Fighters.
