    Thanks for your video!
    I was the liasion for the operation putting the Flying Yankee on Conway Scenic rails. The last time I had seen it was back at the Edaville Railroad back in the 70's. What a great group of guys snd gals taking over stewardship of this Railroad treasure!

    14:57 I’m looking forward to the Roger Williams Budd RDC trainset moving for the first time to be used in operation hopefully that time will be in the new year

      I remember in the late 80's early 90s when one of those Roger Williams cab units was sitting in storage in Cedar Hill yard in Amtrak paint. Glad to see it's restored and wearing its New Haven livery again.

      @ wow that’s so cool that you got to see it still operating for Amtrak I am even more excited to see this train set finally move under its own power since it was pulled by diesel‘s for that Railroad event I look forward to the train set returning to operating condition

      Had never seen this thing before. RDCs with odd noses tacked on? Any back story availlable?

      @johnhirtle4300 it was called the Roger Williams. It was a lightweight high speed (for the time) train set put into service by McGinnis in 1956 when he was president of the New Haven Railroad. Usually had a cab car on each end like in the video and I believe 4 unpowered intermediate cars. They had 3rd rail shoes and traction motors along with standard diesel power and operated between Grand Central using and Boston but weren't in service that long. They were then split up and used in conjunction with regular RDC's for commuter service.

      @TexasRailfan21-RailfanRyan unfortunately I never got to see them in service with Amtrak as I was born in 81 and that's probably around the time they stopped using them. Just got to see them in storage in the yard wearing 1st gen Amtrak paint. They were used by Penn Central after the New Haven Railroad was folded into PC and then used by Amtrak when PC went bust and Amtrak was formed. Don't quote me on this but I believe once Budd built the Metroliners for Amtrak their was no need for these anymore.

    Very enjoyable tour you shared with us that haven’t been to see these great trains! Great to see the rebirth in popularity for GP 38 locomotives! Never realized how much closer to the ground the RDC cabs are compared to regular Freight Locomotives. Thanks for sharing!

    I know it’s impossible to get the S-Motor back in operating condition because there’s only shell, but if some has the money and can find some blueprints to actually make it run again, that’s would be amazing, but that’s only a dream

      Absolutely. I would love to see the S run again but I’m grateful that someone cared to not have these scrapped. The S and the T are insanely rare.

      @ the only times I learned about them is the model train versions of them, especially from the I Love Toy Train videos from way back when

      Honestly, I say it would be cheaper to restomod it. Get AEM-7 or HHP-8(Hippo) components and build it.

      They have the frame as well but unfortunately drm had the scrap company move them and they lifted the engine by the bars that hold the wheels on severely damaging the frame

      @@trainzrule5 True! That’s an important one but this was the top 5 of what I was able to film this year, not top 5 overall. I’ll be sure to cover it once in Danbury.

    I noticed the trainset was gone from Lenox-Dale after sitting there quite a while. The fl5 is back being stored there again.

    Did you forget the B&O RR who electrified their main line before the NYC did.

    • @SouthCoastRailVideos
      @SouthCoastRailVideos  День тому

      The B&O dragged steam trains through a tunnel with their electric engines and that was it. This was the first decent stretch of electrified mainline with mainline speeds and of course these were the first engines to run on it

    There are 2 LORAN trains parked at Walpole junction Gilmore siding. Any idea what they are up to? Are they thinking of opening Walpole to Mansfield again?

    • @SouthCoastRailVideos
      @SouthCoastRailVideos  5 днів тому

      LORAM grinds rails on the commuter rail and they’re probably just laying over there. Not sure what you mean by reopening the line as it is extremely active with commuter rail from Gillette, concert/football extras, and CSX freights.

    • @tomp8871
      @tomp8871 5 днів тому

      @@SouthCoastRailVideos the T only goes to Foxboro, the line goes to Mansfeild/NE corridor mainline. There is room for a yard @ Manfeild, you say CSX goes there that way? Just asking, didn't think freight uses it anymore.

    • @SouthCoastRailVideos
      @SouthCoastRailVideos  5 днів тому

      @@tomp8871 As I said both CSX and the MBTA use it. While the commuter rail runs from Foxboro to Walpole they use it for concert and football extras as seen on this channel.
