Quite a good sampling of what southern New England has to offer. Come up and visit sometime and I’ll show you the gems of the northern half of the region 😉
Enjoyed the video very much. I live near part of the waterbury branch between devon jct and derby jct. Every day I see the metro north trains that run between waterbury and bridgeport. There is a variety of locomotives that are used. I've seen the brookville BL20GH , the GP40PH2 , and the GE P32AC-DM or P42DC I'm not sure which models they are. Some are painted in metro north scheme , some are in the Ctrail scheme ,and last week I saw one of the GE locos painted in the heritage scheme of blue and yellow Penn Central.
Coming from just east of Worcester, MA, this was a great video. I Iive in Wyoming now, and not having been back there in some time now, makes it even better.
Living in the Hartford line and being a ct resident I appreciate this so much my own channel is mostly just csx in Springfield area Palmer and the upstate ny action but I’ve done a couple Amtrak on Windsor Windsor locks on my local area as well East Deerfield
I could be wrong but I’m pretty sure lots of the cars from these trains, especially the trash containers come from the NS 10Z and 11Z that go through my area
I see a few south bound freight trains from Frost Bridge Junkyard in Watertown CT... they haul crushed cars using the Pan American Units... Ocassionally a couple units from the Historic Naugatuck Railroad Museum too. Great rail spotting action..
there's a great spot, tracks running thru the Wachusett Res in Westboylston, rt 140 off of 12, the Freedom train (2101)came into Worcester from that direction, was quite a sight. that was 1975, i'm only 61 , lol, yeah, only,
Definitely a very hit or miss spot, don’t think I would have the same luck of seeing the trains all at once I did on this day if I went back 50 more times!
G & W honestly did the Providence and Worcester so bad, P&W had some of the coolest liveries. They even used to have a pair of ex-Florida East Coast SD70M-2's. I don't know where they are now, but a lot has changed for the worse. G & W just continues gobbling up smaller local networks and painting everything ugly orange and yellow
@@coolawesomeepicman4513 I agree the P&W scheme was incredible. Would be cool if they would add one original livery per road to their new heritage fleet
During the 1990s and the early 2000s P&W CT2 used to run on the Waterbury branch to Derby Jct and then up the old NHRR maybrook line to Danbury . The last time they used this route was in 2009. Then they went over to the Danbury branch. The reason for this was the bad condition of the track on the maybrook line. I live near part of the waterbury branch in between Devon and derby jct. CT2 used to come thru about 9PM. I miss this train. Back then the P&W used GE B23-7s,U23Bs ,and EMD GP38-2s. Some of then had nathan K3LA horns and I loved the sound of them.
I want to say early 90’s they ran CT-2 up Danbury but they would run it once a week on Friday and it was 50 cars long. Then they shifted to the Maybrook. Housatonic owns the Maybrook and well hasn’t exactly kept up the maintenance of it.
I love that CTrail set great way to end it. Seen a few of these passing through Hartford, and I wish I could ever see something cross the Connecticut river into East Hartford. Feels like nothing goes on in the eastern portion of CT aside from the shore. Although I have caught one train from Willimantic bound for I believe Palmer, Ma!
So what will Shirley-Ayer look like soon if the intermodal changes for NS power? I assume more BERX traffic leading them or a total loss of B100/B101 in Shirley and Ayer?

Thanks, Harrison! We’ll make it happen sometime soon 💯

12:16 DAMN that was a late crossing activation!
@protosheep Yes, not sure why it was so late

I have been to Gardner many, many times and not have seen anything happening, just the local engine idleing away.

P&W’s CT-2 runs at night up the Danbury Branch typically M-F around 10pm-ish.

The CTRail locomotives have a very sharp paint-scheme!
Just took the northeast regional from nyc to Boston. Im never taking the bus again
Those tracks are scarily warped. I'm sure they are still safe, and that's what happens when millions of pounds rolls or sits on them.
19:44 7879 is a G&W heritage, 7876 is the vets one. Its confusing they're all so close number wise
@@zephyrstrains2842 Appreciate the correction, yup got them mixed up
@@RiverLineProductions shit happens they all have similar numbers, you bet

That mta looks like something you find in Brazil or something
@@patrickspies1464 yeah pretty nuts looking
6:55 I clearly cant see what railroad that is.
How do you use your scanner?
