- Acoustic to electronic drum conversion using an internal trigger.
This is part one of a two part video showing how I converted an acoustic snare drum into an electronic drum using an internal trigger.
To Order the trigger go to: triggera.com/in...
The Intrig trigger is a dual zone trigger and will detect rim shots very well.
In part two of the video I demonstrate how the drum functions as an alternative to a factory made drum pad. It works well.
Nice video production of detailing the conversion of the Yamaha snare drum. Instead of cutting up ball point pens you could use small PVC or rubber tubing from a hardware store or home improvement store. The Triggera internal trigger is designed after Extreme Drums Triggers (EDT). They provide all connecting cables to connect to your drum module and feed through the vent hole of the drum, allowing you to keep the bottom head and even the snares on the drum if you like. The EDTs also have a five year warranty. Something to consider. Loved your production!
Hey thanks for the info. Will check that out.
Stay tuned...just finishing off another video making a home made trigger for hardly any cost. Andy
Excellent, professional clear and very good idea to speed up certain sections. Thanks.
This is a very good video
It helped me a lot since i had no idea how to turn a drum into an electric one
I have the same snare drum and used the same silent stroke head .My Triger is out side on the rim ..I took off the snares but left the bottom head on ..I noticed it gave the silent stroke head a little more rebound .You can barely hear the bottom head
Externals work just fine. Use good ones and the right mesh heads.
You could always put another mesh head on the bottom. Side-benefit of this is that if you break a head during a gig, you've got a spare one to hand.
TheOriginalCoda Fantastic idea! thanks, Andy
Hey Andy! These triggers look great. Exactly what I've been looking for to convert my acoustic kit to an electronic one. And finally a company that makes these that's based in Europe! I've found so many but they've all been from America, so the import fees would have been crippling hah :) Definitely going to look into them. How are they for reliability?
+Danny H The triggers are holding up just fine. They perform like they did when they arrived. I have gigged an acoustic snare with a trigger fitted and it worked flawlessly. So my experience is good so far! Andy
I've done this. I just putt he bottom head back on. Simple.
You will find, it will speed things up considerably: if u use a 3.6 rechargeable battery drill driver, with a square head adaptor..
I think you could just cut out the bottom head leaving the outer ring instead of removing it so you don't need spacers.
Where are those drum triggers from
He put a link in the description.
what triggers are you using ...didnt catch this info in the video
+nik sealley They are 'intrig' triggers by a company called Triggera. Website is: triggera.com/intrigg
no just registered blind you ideot
partialy blind and a 50 inch yv as moniter...and yes a custom keyboard ok r u satisfied now ..and if all you can do is troll then I will report you and get you removed
isnt it better to have a trigger in the middle?
Not really because you get hot spots. Meaning if you hit right over the trigger it spikes the signal too loud.
