Chromatic Aberration is the effect of light getting broken into spectral colours when entering the glass of a lens by refracting slightly differently depending on wavelength. It can help your CG look a teensy bit more realistic. (Unless you overuse it... Hrm...)
While I prefer to use Magic Bullet Looks for subtle Chromatic Aberration in After Effects, not all of us can use it, because not all of us have it.
Using Shift Channels and Optics Compensations I show you a technique you can use to make it from scratch, and it gives a bit more control.
See how to make the Crystal City in the video:

Fantastic tutorial. Perfect speed for seasoned editors. Thanks!
This the best!! Thank you! I also learned about the repertoire effect accidentally which solve most of my problems!
Exactly what i was looking for. Thank you so much Daniel!
wtf WHY 22K... this was professional level tutorial... quick, clear and precise
Sick. Thanks for putting this up. Brute force baby!
Great tutorial, thank you Daniel!
I'm really sorry that it's not on topic but that voice is so deep and smooth I can't
Also the tutorial itself was very helpful thanks!
For a super quick effect, just use the VR chromatic aberration effect. Its not super customizable but if you're in a pinch it'll do the job.
I found this Tutorial really helpfull ! Thanks a lot
So simple! Thank you so much!
Great Tutorial, thank you!
Great tut. Thank you.
Great tutorial, thanks!
Your voice is mesmerizing
Man that's genius! Thanks for sharing!!!
Cheers! :)
Very Helpful video. Thanks.
Great, thanks to you I made this same on Edius
It is a very good voice. Sort of a cross between Tom Hiddleston and James Lance. And you know your shit in C4D, so double bonus, well done !
Thanks a lot Daniel! :-)
Really helpful thanks
Excellent tutorial!
but i have a query..
I made a glass toroid and I want to change the index of refraction (IoR) with a bit of aberration, how do you recommend adding the (IoR)? I've been hours and I still can't find the way or an expert tutorial. Thank you
THANK U A LOT !
Thank you so giant much
perfect!
Thank you
Good Danielson! Miyagi have faith in you...
thanks bruv
amazing video thank you so much!! Working on something right now that deals with not only Chromatic abberation but also controlling issues with corners after applying Optic Compensation....wasn't aware of Repetile until this tutorial. It's like you read my mind on my current work load lol THANK YOU [[SUB'D]]
Well, that's perfect!
hello how to make 3d wireframe like intro and starburst at end ... please make tutor
Superb
I would like to share this also.. you can do this without copying your entire clip, you can just Add an adjustment layer, but the only difference is to set the Mode of each to "Lighten". I think this is much faster... I guess.
I think I haven't seen a video tutorial using this method xD
Hm, I'll have to try that at some point. It sounds quite elegant.
yup ! i did the same and worked ;)
It doesn't work for me though, the adj layers just becomes fully invisible for some reason.
edit: ah no, i'm an idiot, if you want to simply move the layer, use Transform effect, don't just move the adjustment layer lol
Thanks
I love your voice & humor. Really helpful. Thanks. The best point is that you never present your face first. ( I watch other tuts a lot and I always skip that part.)
merci
No point in using this method if youre gonna use Optics Compensation. theres already an effect called VR Cromatic aberrations that does exactly this. The tutorial is useful to just offset the desired channels and produce a constant aberration through the whole frame. Helpful nevertheless.
Why didn't I see your channel before?
Neat
Super good stuff. Only thing: maybe the background music a bit lower? Thanks!
Yeah, fair comment.
what editing program is that?.
Jonathan Jimenez Adobe after effects mate
How did you make the city of glass intro? The link in your description box doesn't work ):
Fixed the link now, the videos are here:

Dan Danielsson? Damn dude I'm sorry. Great tutorial thanks
It's ok.
Looks like you need FX Console. You're welcome
your voice so funny sir, :D
thanks fo sharing
No worries!
why does your voice sound like caramel
photographers do their best to get rid of chromatic abberations but you add it, why?
To make it look more photographic 😂
The method is good, but your way of teaching is really hard to understand (not to mention your voice), like the part CC RepeTile, Idk what this can do unless I test it myself, you should have mentioned what it can do (maybe repetition tile i get it).
Интересный урок. Кстати, если вам интересно как создать Chromatic aberration быстро и в premiere pro

why he talks so sexy
Many people compliment the voice... true it's a nice voice... but levels and overall sound quality are kinda rough. But than again this video is 5 years old so yuh... no one cares probably.
Why is it so difficult to add such a simple effect [facepalm]
Because life is suffering.
Difficult to understand some sentences, I am a foreigner, you had put all the words stuck together to speak, not good
