- The Magic School Bus was one of my favorite shows to watch in school growing up. I fondly remember several episodes that dealt with the human body and health, but can’t remember how accurate those episodes were. So, I sat down to look at Season 1 Episode 3 “Inside Ralphie” to double check Ms. Frizzle’s science and see if what we were taught as kids turns out to be true or not. In this episode we not only talk about human anatomy and the components of blood, but the differences between viral and bacterial infections, the transmission of germs, and dinosaurs ;)

I grew up reading The Magic School Bus books and watching the TV show, but I still haven’t watched the reboot very much, but I plan on doing so. My family even still has the original books in the garage of our house!

My favorite series is Animorphs and even it has an entire book knocking off the same plot and they name-drop the movie and everything XD Same dude also wrote the Star Trek episode featuring Evil Spock with the goatee, so yeah his stuff's everywhere, blows my mind more ane more all the time
But this show is about the magic bus shrinking and exploring...They went inside plants, animals, all sorts of things. It is great to learn stuff you see at school. Mostly for 3rd graders.

Wrong. it's a mix of Jurassic and cretaceous. Including dinosaurs like triceratops and spinosaurus. He still got brontosaurus wrong because brontosaurus is not a real dinosaur. It was just an appatosaur.

Also yes Dr. Mike certain parts you did take too serious because it is a kids cartoon, but kudos for your diligence. I found it more distracting than anything else. I thought it funny the first time around but the joke the old very fast. It just is a classroom pet/mascot which is a chameleon. The chameleon helps in nonverbal cues when the teacher is not around.

I see a pattern emerging of catoons being massivly more medically acurate than actual medical shows.
Because the point of cartoons is sometimes to explain something rather complicated or convoluted into something that's easier to swallow and digest to a younger audience. Medical shows focused more on the drama between people instead of the medical part, hence the shows meaning.

i was literally counting all the dino names Mike gave Liz : stegosaurus, brontosaurus, pterodactyl, triceratops, velociraptor, ankylosaurus, spinosaurus hiding in the bed, iguanodon spotted, plesiosaurus turn on the tv,, apatosaurus, pteranodon holding alarm clock, brachiosaurus, mosasaurs sneezing, diplodocus, dilophosaurus even have lungs, Mike knew 15 dino names IMPRESSIVE FOR A MEDICAL DOCTOR!!

See, labor ties into public health another way!
Also people in general should be able to recover from illness without worrying about being able to pay rent or risking their job. Also universal healthcare is a good idea. ✅
Unrelated but 0:23 reminded me of all the stories my mom’s told me, when I was little I was kind of quiet, but whenever I had a fever I would start talking about every single topic my little mind could come up with, I remember it happened even a few times as a teenager, me talking nonstop was her cue to get the thermometer

FYI: Ms. Frizzle's lizard, Liz, is a Three Horned, or Jackson's Chameleon, scientific name, Trioceros jacksonii.
She also looks reasonably accurate, given artistic license to make her fit her role in a kid's cartoon.

1:27 Love the mama bear. Liz is a chameleon; not a dinosaur. I remember watching & reading The Magic School Bus when I was a young kid. I had the Inside Ralphie, Lost In Space, Going Batty episodes
& a snall handful of other episodes.
I’m honestly surprised that he named Dinosaurs and Marine reptiles, not a lot of people know their prehistoric animals. And can I speak for all of us paleontologist that he said Pteranodon instead of pterodactyl is the best feeling ever.

@@jabbawookeez01 Believe it or not, most chameleons don't use their color changing as a form of camouflage. They use it as either a way of communicating, or a way to help regulate their body temperature.

By the way, the dino-thing is apparently a chameleon named Liz Ard (creative, I know). And I don't know what drugs they've pumped Lizzie full of but that doesn't look like any chameleon I've ever seen.
