Audemars Piguet Royal Oak (AP RO, model # 15500ST.OO.1220ST.01) vs. Vacheron Constantin Overseas (VC OS, model # 4500V/110A-B483)
2021 December U.S. official retail price:
AP RO: $23,900 + sales tax, VC OS: $22,500 + sales tax
Due to insane price increase in the secondary market for Patek and Rolex sports models in the first month and half of 2022, the VC Overseas price has also gone up significantly since Dec 2021. As of mid February 2022, an excellent condition Overseas with black and silver dial are in the $45K range and a blue dial one is now $60K-$65K. Absolutely crazy.
It got better. Black and silver dials are back at 25k and blue one at 30k, and still falling. Wait a few months and you can buy every color below MSRP.
@Royal Oak Certainly! Since the market crash in April 2022, the recent mini banking crisis in March 2023, and still uncertain economic outlook, prices of all luxury watches including Rolex, AP, PP have falling back to pre-Covid level. Still high for Rolex, AP, and PP, but back to "normal" markups. VC would depend on models, some hard to come by model will likely still be at or above msrp but others can be had below msrp for sure.
Between the two I prefer the magnificent VC watch, then you have the option of putting more straps, the one with a blue dial is nowhere to be found, I think it can give a lot of satisfaction in the future.
VC also has 2x hidden micro adjustments in the bracelet, for that perfect fit! Quick change and 3 included bands is a game changer as it's ultimately 3 watches in one. Black dial 4500V now commands a 3-4 wait list from the boutique. I have the black dial dual time (7900V) and it makes for the perfect daily driver on the rubber band.
Great and the black DT is a very nice one! I have also done a review of the VC OS bracelet vs the rubber and leather straps. While I like the 3 options, I still prefer the bracelet as the rubber and leather feels more stiff amd less comfortable vs. the bracelet.
You are also right about the two 2mm hidden micro adjustments on the bracelet next to the clasp. Very nifty and simple pull and push feature indeed. I had a good look of that feature in my VC OS DT video back in 2019 but forgot to demonstrate in this review.

You have the watches, but not sure you were aware that the VC on the right is a piece of demonstrable craftmanship and skill with an appreciable aesthetic. The VC dial, even black enamel, is excellent
That is why I personally own a VC OS piece, not AP RO or PP. No matter how much people love AP and PP, VC is always my #1 choice.
I own all 3..a Nautilus 5711/1R, a Royal Oak Chrono (26331ST.OO.1220ST.03), and the latest VC Overseas with black dial like that one, and I find the VC to be objectively the best watch... But I'd give the AP the edge on finish / case, and the PP the edge on prestige ..

The fast bracelet change on Overseas it is safe? Wouldnt want to lose it in a crowd :)
The bracelet machnism is secure so I wouldn't worry about it too much. It's the spring bar that may be an issue long term since it does not use the traditional spring bar but rather a screw-in type in one end (at least that's case for the dual time models).
VC price is much higher now I think.
Indeed! While VC's offcial retail price of Overseas hasn't gone up too much in the last several years (besides the annual adjustment of several %), the secondary market price has definitely gone up a lot.
I have both but my AP is blue. I prefer my VC all day over the RO.

I think the VC silver looks the best. Furthermore, silver will be discontinued and will no longer be available.
How do you know the silver will be discontinued? If so, when?
@@hhcreviews I have a VC. I am Japanese. There is a person in charge at the Ginza boutique. The other day, when I went to see the Historique 222, the person in charge told me. The head office said not to take orders for silver.

Definitely prefer the Royal Oak, although this iteration is a little too far from the original design for me- the jumbo 39mm is much, much better.

Not at all. AP is a delicate overrated piece. Fakes flooding the market. The rapper’s watch nothing special. The VC is a true sports watch. Solid, craftsmanship and much more handsome.
