Without Billy, I don't know how they would have ever finished this album. You can see how much the Beatles loved him on the documentary when he walks into the studio for the first time during the recording sessions. Truly, the fifth Beatle. Makes you wonder what would have happened if they'd asked him to join the band permanently.

After the White Album they could have taken six months off to recuperate, instead they get the idea in their heads to record fourteen brand new songs in like three weeks and then play them on television for a live audience. That's a sign of their absence of management. Paul could lead them musically but not also double as manager. And Klein was poison from the start.

This is my era, ladies. I'm 67. Grew up with the Beatles..I was 7 when the hit the states..Even at the age of 7 I felt the earth move from under me..That was the influence they had over here..That was Feb. of '64..In Nov. of '63 president Kennedy was assassinated..They came to this country at the exact moment we needed here..And then, on top of that, they turned out to be no flash in the pan..They just kept getting better and better, with every album..They produced 13 albums in 6 short years!..They wrote over 200 songs in that time! Pretty much not a dog in the bunch!..Even their crap (mostly) had something special about it..And because of them, everybody else brought their A game. It was a phenomenal time for music!..Much success to your channel, and enjoy the ride!..PS. I'm a male, and yes!..Bring back the romance!

This band is the GOAT! They were popular from late 1963 and broke up in 1970. They had 21 Number 1 hits, and 34 more songs reached the Top 10 on the charts, and get this…71 more reached the Top 40 on the charts in constant radio rotation.
The BeeGees were inspired by The Beatles! It’s the reason they started performing! And really, hundreds of bands were inspired by the Beatles coming on the scene in 1963. They changed music as we know it, and they created the first music video, they created Progressive rock, and the first Metal rock music, the first Punk rock music. They were hugely creative. All 4 members of this band could sing lead. 3 out of 4 were songwriters, and the 4th became a songwriter, too! So every song is different. Every album they recorded was better than the last. They recorded 14 albums and also did several feature films. All 4 went on to have very successful solo careers after the Beatles broke up. And they were offered MILLIONS OF DOLLARS to get back together, for just one concert…and then for just one song…PLEASE! Unfortunately, John Lennon who sang lead on this song was shot and killed by a deranged fan outside his New York City apartment in 1980. The entire WORLD was in mourning…it was a tragic loss! John had put this band together when they were all teens. The footage that you saw was the last live concert they ever did! They had their own recording label, called Apple Corps In London. They performed this concert on the rooftop of their studio! It literally stopped traffic on the street! 2 of the Beatles have passed on…John and George. Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr are in their 80’s and still recording and touring. They have both been knighted by Queen Elizabeth. And they just put out the Beatles very last song that all 4 worked on with a music video, called Now and Then. It hit the charts….no surprise!

Awesome reaction! The Beatles are much more than some great, influential band from the past. To this very day, The Beatles are the biggest selling music artist of all time, and nobody else even comes close (Do a quick google search and you'll see what I'm taking about). They have the most #1 hits on the Billboard Hot 100 (with 20 #1 hits) and 35 overall top 10 hits, with their last song, "Now and Then" (which was just released 4 months ago on November 2, 2023) debuting at #7 on the billboard Hot 100, and peaking at #1 on the UK Spotify charts, knocking Taylor Swift down to the #2 position . You should definitely go down this rabbit hole and experience their greatness! They evolved quite a lot in the 8 years that they were a recording band, where they touched so many different styles and genres. I envy you, because I know the magic that is yet for you to discover. Enjoy the ride!
    Peace

This footage was from a concert The Beatles gave on the roof of their Apple Records Studios in downtown London, in the middle of the day, much to the consternation of the folks in the neighborhood. Hence the presence of the Bobbies. As it turned out, this was the final, last, public performance by the boys. And since John Lennon was murdered in December of 1980 and George Harrison passed from cancer in the early 2000's, there will be no reunion, except in heaven.

One of the beautiful things about the Beatles, is that you could take any part of any song in their catalog and find an entire genre of music depending on which part you're keen on. This is a good way to connect to the people two or three generations before you. If you like the love of love and relationship stories, may I suggest 'Nights in white satin' by the Moody Blues. It was around the same time. Slower tempo, full orchestra backing, and hauntingly beautiful. Backstory is about a recently failed relationship. One that went on long enough for her to buy satin sheets, and by what the singer is expressing, quite a while after that, at least in his heart. Keep in mind there were no cell phones, internet, 3 channels on TV and 4-5 radio stations total, if you were lucky. But you could play one of these albums and be positively transported. Keep it up! You're doing great.

The keystone of all popular music for the last 60 years. The Betales were exploring pure pop, rock’n‘roll, ska, RNB, country, lounge, hard rock, proto metal, psychedelia, space, raga, blues, art rock, baroque pop, noise rock ... and invented a lot of sub genres on the way. While writing songs for the eternity. PS: The late Billy Preston, a soul man from the US, was playing the magnificent Rhodes piano here. Sadly not very present in the video. Preston was a close friend of the band and almost became a fifth member for a while.

His attitude characterised the enormous social and cultural shift that happened in that decade perhaps more than anyone at that time. 60-year-old white dude here and I grew up with the Beatles but I have to say, Not only was this enjoyable and I always love footage from that rooftop concert, there's a massive backstory behind that but at any rate you guys are cracking me up so much. In so many ways and it's really heartfelt. About the time you said well we spend our time at the library and in the kitchen and in this room, I just started losing it, laugh.
I have a feeling I originally subscribed a while back maybe because of some elvis? I can't remember but this was thoroughly enjoyable and I hope you do more beatles. They are notoriously difficult to get up but then again I follow several reactors that do it on a regular basis, they just got the pattern down. Seems like it takes 3 weeks or something to go through all the Motions every time. But it's amazing to watch people fall in love with the beatles, which again is from my childhood but as a musician and a musicologist of sorts which by the way was the name of the final Prince album before he moved on, and somehow this music is Reaching Across decades and generations. It's strange to see but I love it. And you guys seem so cool, I wouldn't be surprised if you were sisters because y'all are peas in a pot it seems to me.

They performed this on the rooftop or their recording studio in London and had the access up the stairs restricted. Traffic stopped all around, people gathered on the street and nearby rooftops to watch and listen; after 45 minutes, London police stopped the fun.

My first time watching your channel. You jumped into the tail end of the Beatles music. You couldn't imagine the storm they created when they first started. In the USA they called it the "British Invasion." It got crazy for them and you can hear it in the song "Help". Check out - "While my Guitar Gently Weeps." Also "A Day in the Life" is one of the all time greatest songs. Good luck on your channel.

There’s a movie about this, their last Public appearance. It was live on a City Rooftop. You’ll see how people are hearing music but they don’t know where it’s coming from and discover it’s 4-5 stories up and then the street gets packed. The movie is “Let It Be”, like their album. Now you know why this band is the greatest ever! Check out their “Long and Winding Road”, “Something”, “ Imagine”, “Nowhere Man”….. SanJoséBob

This video was filmed on the roof of the Abbey Road recording studio the Beatles recorded most of their music in in the 1960s. This was their final live performance before the group broke up in 1969, after not having performed live for several years. Lead vocals by band leader John Lennon, bass guitar by Paul McCartney, lead guitar by George Harrison, keyboards by Billy Preston. You are cute, ladies...the times have changed, for sure. Boomers like me remember romance...you will get it back when you ask more of your partners...!! Best wishes!

Virtually every track on every album by the Beatles is playlist-worthy to somebody. They really are that good.
You guys would probably also enjoy some Gordon Lightfoot, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, and definitely check out Frankenstein by the Edgar Winter Group.
There's a band that was big in the late 90s - early 2000s called Afro Celt Sound System, who were just amazingly good. Nobody seems to remember today, though- but back in the day they were big enough to get people like Robert Plant and Peter Gabriel and Sinead O'Connor to do guest vocals for them. Definitely check them out if you can find them.

The lead singer was John Lennon. Taken from us way too early by some wacko. If you liked this you'll love both "Something" ( one of the greatest love songs ever ) & "Here Comes The Sun". Both written and sung by George Harrison, the lead guitarist. Gotta try The Rolling Stones now. Formed in London in '62 and still recording & touring. Their single "Angry" was the # 1 song in October, and their follow-up single featured Lady Gaga.
