Because there's always the what if's on the Band getting together had we not lost John in 1980. Even if it was a one off studio album and no touring. Thank you lads for everything. There is a really touching back story. Think of me now and then, my old friend was the last thing John said to Paul as Paul left the Dakota not long before John’s death. You can google the article and the eerie coincidence of Carl Perkins including the same phrase in a song he wrote a few years later to thank Paul for his hospitality at the end of an 8 day visit. It’s like there was some sort of cosmic thread connecting this song, the parting moment at the Dakota, Carl Perkin’s visit and the eventual discovery of the demo. It’s like the tape needed to be found, and how ironic that Peter Jackson would be responsible for finding John’s precious voice for one last Beatles recording.

But they had the tape since 1994. It had 4 songs on it, Real Love, Free as a Bird, Grow Old With Me and Now and Then… the first two were done as Beatle songs for Anthology, Grow Old With Me had been released by Yoko on Milk and Honey and Ringo would record it not too long ago and Now and Then was so bad with the sound that Harrison called it rubbish so they shelved it until technology was able to separate John’s voice from the backing music.

Thank you for your moving reaction to this final Beatles song. Hearing John's voice sing a new and beautiful song was so emotional for me. And then to see George play the guitar. It brought them all 'back to life' for a time. Hearing that John's last words to Paul were 'Remember me old friend, now and then' makes this song even more meaningful and explains the reason Paul didn't give up on it. Paul and Ringo singing in the present day is so wonderful. I became a Beatles fan at age 13 when I first heard I Want to Hold Your Hand on the radio (before they arrived in the US for the Ed Sullivan show). It's hard to explain how they changed the world from the conventional boring 'respectable' society to a new freedom of expression including in clothing, hairstyles etc. I went with a group of friends to see A Hard Day's Night at the movie theater. When the movie started a teenage boy stood up and asked the audience to make an agreement to scream through the film the first time, but for the next screening we should actually listen to the movie--and we did! My sister and I got to see the Beatles perform at a stadium during their last tour. I'm sure many fans like me think of the Beatles as family. The ending of the video showing them at different ages gave me chills. Thanks again for your reaction.

I was a 15/16 year old who watched John, Paul, George and Pete.....in many of the lunchtime sessions in The Cavern in 1961/1962, we knew they were going places. I was in the audience the day Mr Brian Epstein came to see what all the fuss was about.
Then Ringo joined and the circle was complete.
They had an aura thats never been seen before. They were ours, they belonged to us in Liverpool.
It was only a matter of time that we knew we would have to share them with the world and we we're happy to do so.
They split, i wept like a baby.
Then we lost John. The biggest tragedy in musical history.
    I cried for weeks.
    The Dream Was Over.
Then George passed, another loss....and more tears.
Now, all these years later, 2023 they're bigger now than they've ever been.
Seeing them together in this video, i have shed more tears.
I've loved this quartet for 62 years and i was 78 on the 6th of November, still living in Liverpool and I'll love them til the day I pass away.

Given the thousands of hours the boys spent together, between recording in the studio, and back stage or travelling. They often clowned around, and talked about the past etc etc. With many cameras to hand, and professionals filming them, there must still be many many rolls of film of them, in many collections, still not seen by their fans. Examples are seen in this video.

When I heard “then and now” is coming out, I was disappointed as I wanted to “grow old with me” instead. As the song was about to come out, I was expecting NOTHING. On the day it came out. I listened to it and it was better than I expected. Then the next day when the video came out for “now and then”, I fell in love with the song as the song grew on me and it will always be one of my favorite all time Beatles song, as the message of the song, the magic of the song, the love of Paul to complete the song of his best friend John is heartwarming and finally, hearing John’s voice is priceless. Should we all not look in our heart and remember our forgotten loved ones, every now and then.

I've had the Beatles in my soul since Feb. 9, 1964...I was 11 years old...I'm now 71. I can't imagine my life without them as I've known "nothing else." This tune/video is a heart grabbing, soul piercing, and tear-jerking masterpiece. I took it really hard when John died...and how he died. This video is a final piece of John, his beautiful voice, and his genius. I miss you John.

This goes straight to the heart and it will get your feelings out of the cage.. the first time and this time.. it almost made me cry.. it's beautiful, sad, nostalgic.. I'm not sure how much it can be done about the beatles, but this song feels like a good closure of the whole beatles nostalgia and of course a strongly emotional homage to George and John from Ringo and Paul.. I bet you never stop missing them.
    now I want to cry...

5:41 the one thing I hope AI doesn't do is replace the human imagination. Like the whole track is not AI generated, it was just used to isolate and clean John's vocals. But pretty much John composed it, and Paul and Ringo just edited it down and added their bits, along with archival recordings of George.

It felt poetic to me that it ends where it all began. Arguably, the Beatles as a band really started on the Ed Sullivan show. Thats when they attained household name status. It feels right that the last few moments of their last music video for their last song is them taking their last bow on the Ed Sullivan show.

This video and performance is typical Beatles ... just wonderful. I keep viewing and listening every day. We in our mid-70s have a lot of memories of Beatles music... so joyful we were
when a new Beatles single or album was released. We would listen countless times ... and then over decades of our lives... great to see that some of the younger generations have
discovered the Beatles timeless music, from their early days all the way through their catalogue and until now .

In the 80s I was privileged to be in a Beatles tribute band playing the George Harrison part. At the end of every show we would do that Beatle bow.

A wonderful video that brought me tears of melancholy, but also of joy. My brother, who was 12 years older, was in contact with the Beatles for 6 weeks in the first half of the 60s, as he worked at the Top Ten Club in Hamburg, where the Beatles also performed. I was 10 or 11 years old at the time. When the Beatles' first records were released in Germany, he bought them immediately and I also had the pleasure of listening to their music every day. Since then, music from many different genres has accompanied me.
