    One big trick to keeping your cat calm during a bath: don't run the water while your cat is bathing. Stress is why cats freak out hardcore while in water. Just eliminate a little stress and the process becomes much simpler. I fill a 5 gallon bucket full of warm, rinse water previous to bringing my cat into the bathroom; as well as adding at least on inch of water in the tub. I'm not saying he likes any part of his bath's, but he freaks out a lot less if he doesn't have to hear running water during the whole ordeal.

    The fleas start running towards the head so u need first to put shampoo around the neck, then shampoo the body.

      I came to comment this!! I always start with a dry animal. I then get a decent amount of shampoo(I often find find myself using Dawn dishwashing liquid)in my hand and add a bit of warm water to it as to make it sudsy and easier to apply.
      I then saturate the dry neck with the shampoo.. slightly moving up towards the top of the head. The whole goal is to create a shampoo type of barrier to keep the fleas from moving onto the face and into the ears. It makes all the difference, for sure. Sparkly cleannn 🧼 ✨

      Yes that is what I donwith my cats. Unfortunately This year we had an issue with fleas. With our indoor outdoor cat, it's my fault. I laxed on giving him flea treatment for like 2 months and boom. We've noticed a couple fleas on some of our other cats. And of course our indoor outdoor cat. Last month we gave them.all baths with dawn and put fleas treatment on them. Well it didn't work so I got the big guns. Flea powder on the living room floor today, vacume like crazy and using the Mayers flea shampoo with the boys. Ita been a stressful day. And my indoor outdoor cat does well with baths ( thank god.) FYI I didn't know when I my indoor outdoor cat last yr that he was indoor outdoor. I took him on from a friend of a friend who lied about him being indoor outdoor. Long story short he is ours now and it's stressful. Will he be ok with a behind the neck flea treatment once he is dry? We didn't have this problem last year. And it's been stressing me out the past couple weeks. It is what it is. I'm gonna have to try to rehome him as it's really hard to take care of a indoor outdoor cat especially when the person I got him from strait up lied( she admitted it last yr when I questioned her about it) but it was too late she would not take him back :( so I am doing all that I can for him but it's hard! Any advice would help as far as preventing future flea problems

She needed a flea bath. She did not like the shampoo lol. Mewd like crazy. I put her in the tub with a cup and a big bowl of warm water to rinse her off. I have a female Russian Blue that does pretty good. After a few rinses, she gets very vocal. They usually try to get behind the toilet if they can get out. Go to towel drying, it's a different story. They get all purry. Go to brushing they stretch out. Mine likes to air dry. Can't stand the hair dryer. Good to fog the area they stay in around the same time. After nice & dry, I do one more brush out. Weird, but she washed her front paws again in the water bowl. Did I not get the soap off good enough?

Cats don't usually like baths, and under most circumstances, an indoor cat will never need one, since they clean themselves so well. Fleas, ringworm, extreme dirt from being outside for extended periods of time are reasons for a bath, though.

Are you thoroughly cleaning your carpets after a flea infestation. fleas can jump off an animal and live in your carpet for a while. After you get rid of the fleas on your pet, make sure you thoroughly wash all your carpets and bedding to prevent reinfestation.

    Is your cat still alive? cause there are several accounts on Amazon, that have mentioned their cat has died, and people have been giving detailed descriptions on how this product youre using has affected their cat of many years, went from having adverse effects to dead in a matter of minutes.
    I went with the Dawn bath and it was just as effective with out any toxic issues.

    • @ringothecat4593
      @ringothecat4593  2 роки тому +2

      Ringo is still alive and was never sick from the shampoo. The shampoos have warnings on what age animal they can be used on and how frequently to use it. I believe the one we had could only be used every 14 days and was safe for kittens. If someone chooses not to follow the instructions, then it’s their fault if their cat gets sick or dies. Like you said, dawn dish soap works just as well and could be used at a higher frequency.

    I highly recommend that you watch Jackson Galaxy's video on cat bathing. Basically, there are very few occasions for which you would need to fully bathe your cat like this. Otherwise, it should be VERY rare! Unless your cat is going outside, "flea prevention" is not a reason. Keeping the cat indoors is the best flea prevention.

    • @ringothecat4593
      @ringothecat4593  2 роки тому +3

      Good recommendation. We said bathing cats can be a preventative measure, but you’re right that an indoor cat probably doesn’t need a bath very frequently. Since we got rid of these fleas, we’ve given Ringo a bath only 2-3 times in the past year.

      Read the labels and instructions on any flea and tick shampoo. The one we used said only apply once every two weeks. We also used dish soap baths more frequently to supplement the flea shampoo. To prevent future fleas: vacuuming and keeping the home clean helps. Also washing any soft materials that the fleas may have infested.

      Bravecto is applied to the back of the neck and prevents for 3 months. There's another one that lasts one month that I picked up today so I can treat my house. I adopted a cat, returned it after 6 days (per her request, her husband passed recently), then she discovered her flea problem. I was not informed! So my other cat and I are 6 weeks deep into fleas I didn't know were in my house until they were abundant enough to bite me.

      If a cat (or dog) has fleas, then there’s a good chance the home also has fleas somewhere too. We did a lot of frequent vacuuming and cleaning soft surfaces to get rid of fleas. When it was the worst, a few of us got a few flea bites from them being in our carpet. Fleas prefer hairy animals where they can hide, so it’s unlikely fleas will stay on humans like they do cats.

      Ah so true about running water…can be scary for cats! Oftentimes it does mean that your house will have fleas too. They don’t always stay on the cat. We vacuumed frequently and washed any soft items our cat may have been in contact with. If it gets really bad, I’ve heard of people reaching out to local pest control agencies for a house treatment. A good company will have treatments safe for kids and animals too.

      @@ringothecat4593 Thank you for asking. I wrote that comment because I think it's great for people to know how to bathe their cat when bathing is necessary. So if the cat is covered in something like fleas or motor oil that it can't lick off or you're bathing the cat in some kind of special flea preventing solution (which should also only be used occasionally) then I absolutely think it's great people know how to bathe their cat. I think your video illustrates a lot of really good techniques on doing that. What bothers me is someone watching a video like this and thinking a cat is an animal (dog) that needs to be bathed by humans regularly. Normally, a cat doesn't need to be washed. Cats are really good at keeping themselves clean through grooming. Regularly bathing a cat strips its skin of natural oils and regular animal shampoo doesn't prevent fleas. Ideally, I'd like someone to look at a comment like mine and talk to a veterinarian or read an article written by a vet on the topic.
