    If you put them in a tub or sink, put a washcloth, hand towel, or piece of window screen in the bottom for them to grab on to. It will save your skin...literally.

    I believe fleas can survive in water for up to half an hour if they don't exert themselves. However! Dawn dish detergent causes these otherwise natural floaty, water resistant insects to sink right to the bottom, and they aren't skilled swimmers. Plus, the detergent lets liquid into their breathing system, which is passive, so they WILL drown to the point of lethal suffocation about about a minute of exposure. Just takes a while. ;D

    Presently, I am giving serious thought to getting a very young medium length haired

    You are a wonderful mommy. Your babies are lucky to have someone so gentle. It's obvious you have a heart of gold. Thank you for making this video . I lost my fur baby last November after 14 years . I couldn't bring myself to get another baby until today. My sister brought a sweet little stray to my house and my heart melted. My vet checked her out and gave her something for flees and worms but she desperately needs a good bath. I'm going to wait a day or so because she has an eye infection he's treating. I was worried about how to use Dawn because I had heard of how well it works but have never needed to try it. Thanks for showing how to use it.

    I'm about to do this to 3-4 week old kittens that I am a foster mommy too. The problem is their mother is 80% Feral. She will let me pet her but I basically have to trap her to pet her if that makes sense she will not just walk up to you and rub against your ankles. She's been very gracious letting me handle the babies since day one. The first three days after she gave birth she was exhausted and I had to help the runt of the litter latch onto the nipple quite a few times. But about a week in everything is 110%.
    Now they are four weeks old and I noticed that there are fleas on their belly. I have to treat them but if I cannot treat mommy at the same it's almost pointless.
    I think I'm going to have to give her a capstar then put something like revolution on her

    So there's this female stay cat, i call Brownie. I've been feeding her for almost a year now. I always pet her and hold her and i've never gotten a single flea (fortunately!!). She just had four kittens! Their too cute! So i want one of her kittens cause it look just like her. So i bought Dawn dishwashing liquid , kitty litter , Kitty toys , kitten food , etc. But im scared to bring her in my house cause of her fleas. She been outside sense she was born. Thanks to you , i know what to do. By me washing her with Dawn soap ,Will i'll be able to get all the fleas off ? How often do i have to do this ? Do you have any tips for me? Im planning to get her tomorrow, and im so nervous. I just dont want to make a mistake and wound up having my house infested with fleas.

    I also read to keep handy a dish of rubbing alcohol to drop fleas into as you pick them off. Another tip was to have a dab of Vaseline handy to immobilize the fleas you catch, then you can squeeze them to death with tweezers. Haven't tried these myself yet. I'm trying to figure out which to do first, flea bomb and treat the bedding areas or bathe the kittens?

    How much dawn soap do you need to use and how much water do you need to add? How many times you have to wash them with dawn soap to be flea free completely? What about the fleas jumps on the face and head? It is hard for 1 person to do all the work. I used to soak my kitten in the water but I saw all the fleas jumped on her face .

    • @Tiff7web
      @Tiff7web  6 років тому

      One good squeeze of the soap should be fine, you can see it's just a regular dishpan size of water! A single washing should do the trick! It is hard to get the fleas off the head cause they are trying to get away from the soap, but just keep working the soap around their faces. Be sure to protect their eyes and ears from the soap!

      Get a flea comb and use it to get the dead and dying fleas off. As you comb, be sure to clear the comb each time -- dropping the hair and fleas into a small dish of rubbing alcohol. Don't alcohol your cat. Licking it off during grooming could make your pet ill.
