The removal of the shield bash move may have been to account for a new upgrade that gives Hoplites a bit of range (as spear users), as the old animation with the new upgrade would result in them slapping the air and their enemies a short distance in front of them taking damage somehow. As funny as that would look, it would also be impossible to take Hoplites as a unit seriously from silliness factor.
@@theowlogram888 It made it unique and made it feel like the shield was an actual instrument of war instead of just static aesthetic. Also backinghanding is a legitimate combat technique with or without shield.
if you manage them flawlessly the entire fight just a single unit can kill the titan if it just never takes damage i think. so the number how many units you need is basically a skill indicator.

@wtfrockshooter2631 Thanks, but how'd you do it in the new version of the game? Where in the editor is that ability? If you haven't played the newer version, where was it in the old editor? Hopefully the new version mirriors the old.
Go to the Triggers menu, add a trigger. Go to the Effects tab. Set the effect to "Player: Set Tech Status". Set the tech to Medium Infantry. Set the status to Active. Duplicate the effect, set the next one to Heavy Infantry. Duplicate again, set that one to Champion Infantry. If you just add Champion without also adding Medium and Heavy, its stats won't accurately reflect the true numbers you would expect from that upgrade.
* Ranged Units. Use everything else to tank for them, avoid the splash damage * Heroes. Dish out many times more damage, take half as much * Myth Units. Most have damage multipliers against other Myth Units. * Flying Units. Titans can't hit fliers
Just 3-4 rounds of the 4 greek heros (12-16 units) can kill this no problem. Also, the norse seige rams are super strong against titans. Even the AI has no problem taking down titans with just spamming these.
greeks: IT DOESNT WORK! (because greeks are the one civ without a flier that can deal damage. Norse coming close second sicne their only one is from a god power)
I dont mind the character portraits, but the attacks feel so unimpactful. Wish they brought the old animations and sounds back for them. Maybe with a mod?!

They got rid of the ground rippling after the titan's special? That's horrible! They got rid of the hoplite's shield bash animation too!
the effect is much better now, so it don't really matter.

@@joshuakim5240 Bro the hoplites are still hitting the air with their dori.
Tbh the shield bash wasn't that good looking and they even performed it without shield 😅

Yep. It's an indication of how much you suck because while you're doing perfect micro with that one hoplite the other player rolls over your bases.
nah its range is too big you cant run quick enough
You can't land a hit with a melee unit and then run before it does a smash attack, you will be in the range of the smash.

How did you upgrade your hoplites to champion rank in the editor?
If i remember well, in the Old AoM editor You just need to put the civ in the late mythic age and all the units will be upgraded
