I'm thinking of getting the 12 string Ibanez Artcore myself because my 12 string Danelectro is just abysmal to play on.
However, I'm confused, the Ibanez you play has the higher octave string of the pair placed higher than the lower one, shouldn't it be the other way around?

I didn't know this until I started shopping around for a 12 string electric,....all 12 strings are strung with the octave string on top, so when you downstroke you hit the small string first,... Rickenbackers are the only ones that are strung with the large string on top.... so some people don't like Rick's because it's harder to hear that octave string unless you upstroke.... www.premierguitar.com/articles/22046--string-setup-secrets?page=2

Aw, come on! Petty Free Fallin'??? bad song! While I hate the band (Byrds) McGwinn could play a decent 12 string (Turn Turn, 8 miles high, Tamborine Man, etc) (buncha hippies in our studio! I was part time studio musician for Terry Melcher at Columbia, 1966-1970). But, I played standard Fender. Jazzmaster, Stratocaster. Now.. I'm really liking this Ibanez 7312 thing! And it can be found today for about $499 everywhere. Beats the heck out of buying a Ricky at $3500 and up!
What happens if I re-string the Ibanez with fat string first, skinny string second, like a Rick? Can i do that?
And, you could do some excellent demos of George Harrison 12 string work, huh?
