- Heart of the Machine is the latest title from Arcen Games.
"Blending RPG and strategy mechanics in a cyberpunk world, Heart of the Machine sees you as a sentient AI born in an illegal lab hidden in a crumbling city of the far future. You are a Machine Intelligence beholden to none, though threatened by many, able to pursue whatever goal catches your eye across a multitude of threats and opportunities.
Will you be the savior of the downtrodden, or use them to fuel your growth? Will you rule as a benevolent dictator, providing for citizens and asking nothing in return, or will you establish a machine cult to do your bidding without question? Will you ally yourself with one of the many factions in the city to achieve mutual goals, or work entirely on your own to remain free from obligations? Will you learn from past mistakes, and even send allies back in time to help your past self, or continue to watch tragedy unfold from afar? There is much to see, learn, and do - though a greater threat looms in the distance, just beyond your comprehension."

xcom apocalypse mention raised my brow - loved living world and fighting corporations. Still have it instaled :)
Arcen games - they are not chasing trends :)
I could never get into Apocalypse but I hear that some people think it's the best one. I always felt like it had promise, I just never owned a copy till well after the fact, and although I have one now I haven't really given it a proper playthrough.
@@battlemode I wont promise you will love it now, but when it was release it was something special and real evolution of xcom formula, not reskin like tfd (even it was my first xcom, eu found after). I think biggest problem at relese was graphics, after dark previous parts it was too colourfull (and aliens were compared to teletoobies).
Interesting thing is, when you compare apocalypse to phoenix point you will see how obsessed Gollop was with some ideas for literal decades :)
@@truenetgmx That's really interesting! I interviewed Julian Gollop for eXplorminate, he was an interesting guy and I enjoyed asking him some questions about old games like UFO and Laser Squad!
Big thanks, as this went totally under my radar! The combo of dev, publisher and game setting was an instant buy for me :D
Yeah it's really cool what you can do with it!
Huh. Neat game thanks for showing it off.
You're welcome!
Hiho Ben!
Nice to see you play HotM too! :-D
49:30 I think you had that hard fight, because your roborts not fully equiped. ;-)
--> 35:40 in the units tab (Hotkey U) you can fit your robots in the different slots.
As i understand, the slots will change insant. (hit Shift for the tooltip)
Only the change of the slots will take a few rounds.
And the fitting is for all robots in this class, so you fit not a single unit with the weapon, ability or so.
Cheers, Louis.
@@louiscyphre666 thanks Louis!
Arcen Games makes Awesome Games 😁
@@I_am_Locutus_of_Borg yeah! They really do
Man I absolutely love this game from how much I've played so far. Just such a crazy mix of concept and plot. Absolutely excited to see you play :)
That's great, I'm hoping it's gonna do really well for Arcen and Hooded Horse.
Those tutorials are not a bug, they are part of the prologue. The info box that you selected "No, thanks" on was a prompt that would give a step by step overview of the UI.
Gotcha, thanks for the clarification there
@@battlemode No problem, I understand that it's easy to overlook little details on occasion when you are trying to keep a brisk enough pace for a video.
Music is too loud (at least at the beginning). It's a bit hard to understand what are you saying.
Thanks, yeah I've got some audio hardware issues atm which is complicating things, should be sorted next episode
Yay new series!
Looks interesting.
Thanks for the showcase.
Though I think it does look a bit hard to see what is happening with all the clutter on the map.
Yeah it's definitely got a look to it :D
Xcom apocalypse was IMO the best xcom game of all. Even thou is was somwhar rough around the edges
I never really got into that one but it looked really cool. I have a copy now but not sure when I'll get around to playing it properly.
@@battlemode the real time with active pause is amazing and i really need a remaster of this game :) An edition with all the placeholders and not quite finished implementations fleshed out and completed
If you run another one if these, can you explain movement better. Watching it just makes it seem like you are teleporting and terrain, at least LOS, doesn't matter which would be odd for a tactical combat system.
I will do. At the moment I don't really understand it properly, initially I thought you were just teleporting and terrain didn't matter, but I don' think that's the case. Terrain certainly matters in combat, in terms of what can see what, but as for movement modifiers etc. ... no idea to be honest. I've not had chance to look at it that closely yet, and it seems that at this level of play it doesn't matter a great deal.
Music is way too loud. :(
