Lyrics:
If I gave you pretty enough words.
Could you paint a picture of us that works.
An emphasis on function rather than design.
Aren't you tired cause I will carry you, on a broken back
And blown out knees, I have been where you are for a while...
Aren't you tired of being weak?
Such rage that you could scream. All the stars right out of the sky
And destroy the prettiest starry night. every evening that I die.
I am exhumed just a little less human and a lot more bitter and cold.
I am exhumed... just a little less human...
A lot more bitter and cold...
Please say someone is still listening to this other than me in 2024
on repeat since high school. I'm 29 now 🤟
Great Song still Listening since 2006
I bought this album in 2003, it's still in the cd case. Banger forever
I’ll never stop listening to it lol
I am human too.
I love the impact these bands had on my teen years. 32yrs old and I still come back.
Same. The good ol days 😢
bro i just texted my best friend about this. like holy shit its been 12 years? we're 33 lol
Same age ! But same to all of your comment 🤣
@@devmichelle6230 This is so random but I just got a notification on this since I had commented on it before and I just need to tell you that you are so freaking pretty
@@What.The.Chell_lol aw thank you so much beautiful 💖💖💖
Flashback to when you could buy a CD and it would come with DVD extras of band's music videos that were on the same record label. Victory Records lives on
Shaped my music taste at a young age man, I got into Between the Buried and Me thanks to those DVDs lol
Victory has so many great bands on it
the cd i had with this track on it had a bunny on it or a lamb i cant remeber but when u took the box case off the bunny would be all zombified. it was pretty awesome.
The sound quality on a cd is way better vs mp3 or mp4 format still. Plus you get a dope ass album and the cd. Keep supporting good bands and buying the real albums.
Hellyea had alot of good jamz on it . Victory records thanks for the bonus crap
It's a phase they said... *is a mom now making muffins with atreyu blaring *
😂😂🤘 this...
Am torturing the toddler with it right now 😝 he loves it. Fell asleep to killswitch the other day too. That's my boy!
It's a phase they said *10 years later: hmmm I havent listened to them in a while.. -minutes later - "ONE HUMAN SOUL!!!!" *

If UA-cam was thriving in 2004, this would have 100m views. This song was HUGE when I was in high school.
true
Damn. You’re old and I’m getting there.
I remember them days brother.. fuck I was like 12 or some shit when unholy confessions came into play
I love this song it's a great song
Yeah. My brother had the dvd from the best of cd so sadly I never needed to use UA-cam to listen to them when I was younger
shout out to whoever was a teen during this era. we were the last original rock scene
Still are, chap!🤘🏿
What do you mean? The last "new" style of rock to be made? If that's the case you're sorely mistaken. Our time in the sun was special but not that special lol.
@@yoursafeplace8476 Rock and metal is coming back! So many good albums this year already.
WOLF, Ambush and Sabïre have entered the chat...
SUPERMOTOJAK name a couple, I need something new to listen to.
Music is the closest thing we have to a time machine. It's amazing how the power of sound can instantly take you back to a time and place in your past. Nostalgia is both a mix of happy and sad emotions. Happy to have lived and remember those moments in your life, but sad that everyday they slip further and further away.
Couldn't have said it any better 👍
Well put. You could even extrapolate that thought to anything sensory - it need not only be music, but any sound, smell, sight, sensation, or taste. Marcel Proust expresses something similiar in 'In Search of Lost Time'. For him, as an adult, it is drinking tea and eating a madeleine (forever known as the madeliene moment) that evoke forgotten memories of a happy childhood:
"The past is hidden somewhere outside the realm, beyond the reach of intellect, in some material object (in the sensation which that material object will give us) which we do not suspect. And as for that object, it depends on chance whether we come upon it or not before we ourselves must die."
You know this comment was written during 3:27
Don’t ever be sad for good days come and gone. Be sad for those who never have good days. Live to hold life in your hand like a flame, bright enough to fill your life with joy but not so hot to burn yourself. Life is a balance, don’t ever think bad times will dominate your life. They are a moment to live past and enjoy after they’re gone. Yes I said bad times will become a moment of joy after you live through them.
Jesus, twist the dagger in more lol, but yes very true 😞
Almost 31 now and I cannot tell you how impactful this music video has been on my life. Happy 20 years boys.
I'm 34 and still listening... this band always calms my anxiety
Literally your post is me. 100% accurate including age haha.
42 lol....and still listening but mostly old atreyu.
I remember being in 7th grade, skating around all summer, no electricity or running water at my house because my parents were so strung out, and this album on mp3 was my solace
I was right there with you homie, long live the real ones 💯
We're around the same age, I was born in 1990. My middle school experience was punctuated by these guys heavily.
Same af
they done a dam good job, so did you brother
the moshpit on slow motion is pure poetry. almost 20 years and still a huge fan, thanks Atreyu for your existance
Me too
I was in that pit in 2002. I would give up everything for that moment again...
For specific details. They opened for AFI. Anyone remember when AFI was a thing? Or From Autumn To Ashes.
I was in the 8th grade when I was handed a mix tape with 3 songs. Atreyu being one and I was hooked. I'm 33 now and still hooked. Seen them live 💜
7th grade for me, 30 now, and honestly I feel like I'm reminiscing of times 100 years ago.... Hmm maybe just a me thing I hope, cause damn I don't wish this emptiness on anyone else
I feel old as fuck.
yeah, was my junior year of high school when this came out.
Dylan Bartels I was only a Freshman
Dylan Bartels
I was a sophomore!!! lol
Dylan Bartels I was in 6th grade lol
Dakota Kilgore I was in 7th!
Got up on stage with these guys for the Live, Love, Burn, Die part back in '02. A7X was the opening band playing only stuff off of Sounding the Seventh Trumpet and Second Heartbeat...nothing makes you feel old quite like memories!
I went to that show in San Diego. Hopesfall played, too. Fucking incredible show
so fucking sick. I went to the taste of chaos with them avenged and bullet.
I saw a7x in 2011 and was so fucking stoked when they played second heartbeat. One of my favorite songs of all time
So dope! Thank you for sharing that. I really love this band I wish I could go back in time sometimes to this era of music
I saw atreyu, bullet for my valentine and a7x in milwaukee for the taste of chaos in 07...to this day best concert ive ever been to! 3 incredible bands!
I was 15 when I heard this almost 15 years ago. I remember losing my shit when the piano came in and led to the guitar... And then as a HIM fan I just loved the video haha. Nothing will ever match this time...
same, same, same. fuck i miss this time
I'm on a kick of classics from my teens right now and feeling old realizing the age of these songs... the other day I was jamming with some younger guys and when I mentioned playing some old classics dude starts playing "dammit" by Blink 182... felt ancient in that moment.
Totally agree. The Metal, Punk Rock, Pop Punk scene from early 00's to roughly around 2010's won't be beaten, especially for teens during that time.
Yeah and i just feel like a dinosaur now. All this just makes me more aware of my mortality and how silly i was when i thought things will always stay the same
And love said no...... ❤️
Nearly 2 years ago, on our wedding day, my wife walked down the isle to this song (starting at the 3:06 mark). When we did our first kiss as a married couple ("you may kiss the bride), we played the chorus of "When Two Become One" and our first dance was to "Wait For You." Obviously, all song by Atreyu. By far one of my favorite bands.
@@MrPokesmot32 ROFL
Eh maybe cringe when looking back at it but was still a fun day.
Happy to say we are still together.
@@MrPokesmot32 it’s not cringe. The 3:06 mark he’s talking about is a beautiful bridge which is a nice way to conclude this song considering what it’s about. It’s actually pretty ideal for a “walking down the aisle” wedding song. Not that you care man. But I’ve got a feeling you’re involuntary celibate. Good luck. Work on yourself.
That’s actually pretty cool man. Fuck the guy that said it was cringe. Great choice of music!

Oh man I never even thought of this...my daughter had she been born my son would have been named atreyu. Really wish I would have thought of this...for my daughter knows what her name would have been because of this band...love it

Whaaa
I almost named my son Atreyu. We... or should I say myself decided on Judas, instead.
This is ace, I'm 30 years old this year and still love this band, metal and hardcore is forever and good music has no sell by date
Just got my old Atreyu shirt out yesterday still has all the holes in it from my stud belt. Miss those days man...
Why would the holes not be there?
yeah those were the good days
Don't. We all ✌
When I was young and dumb, it would drive crazy not knowing where the holes came from.
Yesss I Remember those days, my studded belt use to wreck my Dickies and allll my band shirts 😂😂🤘🏼🤘🏼
Man I used to be really into this band. Haven't kept up with them in a decade though.
skudzer1985 their last album was surprisingly really good and heavy
Same dude. I was so into them 14 years ago ♡ this album saved my life
Because you’re trendy.
They haven't been worth while since A Death Grip on Yesterdah so you haven't missed out on anything...
The hardcore gothic punk scene rocked back in the day
What an amazing era for music. This song brings back so many memories!
This band was at the first metal show I went to. I wasn't paying attention and a pit opened beside me. Nearly broke my nose.. I loved every minute of it. Must've been 15 years ago now
Been listening to then since I was 12 I heard Bleeding mascara and loved it. I am now 29 and still listen to them I saw them live years ago with Avenged sevenfold and bullet for my valentine in Asbury NJ was an awesome concert.
I would have LOVED to go to that show. I was in Northern VA at the time, so I would've made it out. I'm 29 now too, and those were my favorite bands back then. That era was peak metal in pretty much every genre for me (aside from Deathcore because Lorna is killing the game). It's a bit ironic, I was playing a ton of shows back then, but since I still lived with my parents, they had total control over where I could go. I didn't see my first concert until I was 19 and had already played hundreds of my own. All the bands growing up and changing leaves a strange, bittersweet nostalgia feeling, like something is missing and hasn't really been replaced all the way.
I remember listening to atreyu when I was 18 now I am 32 still playing atreyu wow
31 yo and still on it
32 myself. Right there with ya
29 and still on it
33 and still love it!

In my chest where my heart
Still tries to beat
It still tries to beat

Ahhhh. The memories. I’m 36 now. 😢 I miss these days more than ever.
I have live love burn die tattooed on myself. My first tat when I turned 18 back in the early 2000s now im 35 still love this
in my opinion i think that suicide notes and butterfly kisses is their best album, i love every single track off of that album
1998-2005 was so much fun for metalcore
I didn’t think Atreyu could rock any better, 20 years later this stuff still kicks ass. Thank you Atreyu.
I used to play this song on repeat to the last level in the first Halo game. Made it soooo epic!
My guitar teacher played this song on his computer since he was talking to me about what bands he listened to during his adolescence. All I can say is that this kicks ass.
Back when I had no bills and was 16

If only they still wrote music like this ....
+Tyler Carrell I know right?!
Did you hear the new record?
***** No. Is it here on youtube?
+Asher Smith yes
+Jak2star I heard the new record, doesn't hold a candle to their first 2 albums. Not that it is bad, just forgettable for the most part. I think Start to Break is the only song I could listen to more than once or twice without getting bored. This album you can listen to from start to finish, then restart from the first song, repeatedly, all day long.
2007 Taste of Chaos tour. I hesitated to jump in the mosh pit because of a 350lb 6'7" dude wearing a shirt that said "Jesus is a cunt" was literally picking people up and throwing them.

Takes me back to high school years! Good times that can only be relived listening to this
I remember listening to this whole CD in my CD player skateboarding to elementary school. And it still sounds just as great!
Same here man. 32 and still shredding
One of the first metal songs I ever heard. Within a short period of time I became far more interested in the Swedish melodic metal bands like In Flames and Dark Tranquility and moved on to a whole new world of music. However I can't deny the origins of my musical evolution.
Vikingland Exactly that happened to me , a good song it's a good song
Used to listen to a ton of stuff like it, Trivium, Avenged Sevenfold, Bleeding Through, then moved on to Swedish metal bands and black metal and so on. Funny how once you start a trend, it leads you down a rabbit hole of new experiences.
+Vikingland This is a metalcore song. Swedish melodeath sucks except for At the Gates (they're great). Maaan, sucks for you.
+Vikingland Metal is a wonderful thing. There is so much of it, and much more to come.
Zimx02 So melodeath sucks but metalcore doesn't? Whatever bro
Reminds me of my skating days I mean I still skate and Ill be 30 in October but makes me think of the good ole days hanging out drinking smoking having fun

this is one of my atreyu anthems. my fall back. atreyu defined half of my coming of age.
Aw, shit. This reminds me of waking up at 5:30 every morning because my sister would get ready for high school so early and she’s play this. I’d just lay in bed listening and kinda sleeping 😂

This album shredded hard in retrospect. Its way more metal than I remember. I always thought they were more have hardcore sounding
Straight up metalcore

So easy!
Yesssssss
I'm more impressed by When Two Are One's outro solo, but this solo gives so many more feels!
"This is drawing on a personal experience I had with someone. I kind of embellished it to form the song. In a way the song could be about true love 'cause I will carry you on a broken back and blown out wings... 'live, love, burn, die' says it all. We live, we love, we burn with passion and desire for life and then we die. The key is to burn, to really live, experience life, feel passionate about something and give your whole being to it. Whether it's writing music, making love or painting. If you're gonna do it, do it with passion. The word burn is sort of a metaphor for true unadulterated passion."
-Alex Varkatzas
This is what the song is about.....you know. Your passion. Like what all music should be about. It looks like people have forgotten music isn't about US it's about how we can relate to it. If you can't relate to the song. Move on. If you can great. enjoy it. If you complain about how you don't like the song because you don't understand it. it's like complaining because you can't solve a math problem for the same reason. Oh and if you hate that it's not your style. Well.....Don't listen to it. It's kinda like Jail in a funny way. If you don't wanna go there don't do bad things. If you don't wanna hear this music. Don't listen to it. Pretty simple.
That's from the CD booklet. That takes me back. 💜🔥

Jez, my musical tastes are across the whole board. Liked this song since the band came out.
I can't believe this song is nearly 20 years old. This reminds me of friends from a lifetime ago. Small club shows where you were so close that you and the band were breathing on one another. Some made it big. Others faded and became everyday Joes. I'll always remember the night I saw Atreyu's van got robbed of thousands in cash right before the show at Club Chrome in NJ and people were just throwing money onto the stage. Another funny one was where they were the openers for a local band but when they finished their set, half the crowd left.
