Great informative and honest review thank you. I just bought a 17 Chevy Spark to tow behind my new class A, and I just ordered the BlueOx base plate and towbar yesterday. Now I need a braking system and I really like the RVi 3. Thanks for showing how it works, I will buy one. The tpms sensors on the company website they say that when the battery dies you send them back and it cost $10.00 a piece to get a new set a batteries.
RVI3 there customer service is treatable I have left 5 messages over last 6 weeks and have got no reply no return call. There wireless brake controller for there system went out and made it unusable called in sept 10 times to see wha5 we could do to bypass brake away switch still no reply from them customer assistance is worthless I would still be 3000 miles away from home if I waited from them.
Really like this video, very informative and thorough review. I'm scheduled to get the RVi installed. Gonna get their TPMS caps so it's "all in one" (brake and TPMS). I emailed them to ensure I'm getting the wireless break away, not the wired - THANKS for that tip!!! You used the Blue Ox 3 braking box before the RVi - and you like the RVi better?
I have the same system I attach to my Jeep Grand Cherokee. I have had an issue with the brake claw pulling the brake pedal rubber pad off of the brake pedal when braking. I have glued the pad in place and it pulled it off again. I have now removed the pad and attach to the metal only. I just switched the claw to cover both sides of the brake pedal arm and will see if everything works out. I may attach the rubber pad again with some better glue. I agree with you about the screen not rotating on the tablet. that is annoying having the cord at the top and I like to look at landscape instead of Portrait view. That should be a software update as you said. I believe RCI will send you brand new sensors when you need to replace the batteries for only $10.00. That seems reasonable except if you have 10 sensors and the need to send them in and wait for replacements.
I had the same problem with the rubber pad at first and called the company. The owner called me back and we worked through it and I was setting it up wrong. Great customer service on there part!
I'm guessing that tablet uses an open source Android OS, like a Kindle. It would be a simple fix for their development team to add screen rotation/orientation. Realize though that your TPMS readouts may be very small when in portrait... that stuff has to fit on the screen somehow. However, the upsidedown display with the top connection is an unforgivable oversight... that should be fixed immediately!

Great video! Assuming you're towing with the towed vehicle engine off - How does this work without the power brakes?
