    Super job, I fixed my mum's washing machine for 50p after the engineer told her it was beyond economic repair, just needed 3 capacitors replacing, it took me longer waiting for the staff in maplins to get the bits together than it did to fix the machine, that was 5 years ago, the machine still runs fine.

      Well done :-D, i used to wait ages in the coventry maplins, the people behind the counter knew nothing about components, i asked for a common regulator and he said they were out of stock.
      I could actually see the regulator behind him, useless numbskulls.

    Thanks for posting this video. It gave me the incentive to tackle a pcb fault on a different model which was dead. The resistor checked out ok on mine, but I noticed that the adjacent inductor had a piece of it’s casing missing, probably caused by a current spike. I replaced the inductor and the machine is back in service.

    Well done, the panic is over...... Perhaps lol.
    Yes that resistor failed in an odd way, i wonder if the vibration from the drum helped an allready faulty resistor?.
    Once the led appeared and flashed, the police arrested it ......... no no that's silly.
    The led indicated there was a changing state and logic. 😀
    I had a Beko washing ( when it wanted to ) machine, what a pile of poo.
    I kept the controller board for part stealing later.
    I bought a Bosch serie 4 machine, it washes clothes when i need it to 😀
    That was 3 years back, so ready to R.T.B lol.

      The resistor also acts like a fuse. It gets a thermal shock every time the mains is applied as the 10uF capacitor is discharged at switch on.

    Would a failure of the offline switching chip still allow current on the 5v line and not the 12v? I’ve got lights, display and motor control but even after 3 relays I still can’t get the heater on without bypassing the relay on the board. I’ve replaced the thermistor and the other sensors on the heater are testing correct ohms. Thanks for your videos, definitely subscribed.

    • @razenby

      Have a look on the board very carefully with an eyeglass you may see fine cracks in the heater circuit pins on the PCB. You have soldered the relay but there may be others. I have buggered around with these boards for hours and then spotted the cracks.. they are infinitesimal. Very easy to miss. One thing you have plugged everything back in correctly and checked the over temperature safety cut out? usually there is one lurking somewhere with a red button or lever. A fluff blockage alone cab cause them to trip. I suppose you could have a blown port driver pin on the micro but I have only seen one or two with that fault,.

    Had a hoover tumble dryer for quite a few years, the on/off switch burnt out, half the wiring to the switch overheated and went all brittle, so i replaced the switch and redid the wiring, only for it happen again a couple of years later, worse this time, a lot of smoke, tripped the electrics and judging by all the charred and blackness around it, probably a small fire that didnt take hold, thankfully. Ended up chucking it and buying a new smart candy tumble dryer, not realising that they're basically the same thing as hoover. Only had the it a few years and hence why i am here, a connector on the back of the pcb board has melted and damaged the board, new board around £100, which sod that, and i am sure it will only happen again and risk a fire? poorly made crap if you ask me. Another brand i will steer well clear of.

    • @razenby
      @razenby  5 місяців тому +1

      Unfortunately spade connector overheating is an issue on many brands. The UK mains has too much oompfh for the European designed 230V products. I usually to solder them into position on the spades.You need a good iron and do it quick. Obviously the quality of the replacement spade connectors and the crimp tool used in the repair is critical. Most spade connector kits are pretty poor quality,

      Hmm, is teh power supply working providing the low voltage DC supplies or not>>? If the LEDs are working it sounds like the TNY chip many not be the problem. First of all make sure the door switch is detecting the door is closed. If the machine thinks the door is open it will flash and not start.

      Clicking relay is usually a symptom of low voltage DC supply voltage or a bad reservoir capacitor.

    In the company of an expert, mind you a bit of show boating to use 3 resistors instead of one! I have a Sumsung Tumble dryer (SDC14709XEU) it has been wonderful but the other day it appears to have died, no lights on the control panel. Armed with my o level electronics and a ten Bob multimeter, I can determine that I have 240v coming into the machine at a wiring coupling after that the wiring coils then at the control panel on/off switch the voltage drops to 190v. Is this normal? Is the coil dropping the voltage? Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

    • @razenby
      @razenby  2 роки тому +2

      I don't have time to impress just need to get the job done. I didn't have the correct resistor in stock. Are you using AC or DC mode on your meter? If you don't have power just follow the procedure shown in the video. It will be your problem. Just make sure you have the mains AC voltage coming into the back of the switch via the two spade terminals. If you do not then investigate the mains wring and input filter on the machine usually located right at the back where the mains cable comes in,

    I noticed that you add solder to a connection before removing component,why is this please?

    • @razenby
      @razenby  8 місяців тому

      Adding leaded solder (60/40 Lead/Tin) lowers the melting point of the unleaded solder and enables much easier component removal.

    Hello
    Are you sure that 1K resistor isn’t actually a 1000uH inductor? It seems strange to have a 1K resistor feeding the 400v DC smoother, usually the capacitor is fed directly from the rectifier, or through some form of choke.

    This tumble dryer it starts turning...heater start geting warm ...10 seconds later I can ear a click from one of the relays on the front panel ....it stops...then restart but with all lights flashing red and the heating element will stay cold .
    I have checked continuity on the 2x sensors on the heating element and they seems to be ok as the multimeter it beeps.....I pull out the front NTC sensor.... testing for continuity and I get no beeps from multimeter but when checking ohms the value change depending on outside temperature blown at it.
    What is my next step? Does it have more sensors somewhere else? Thank you

      If the sensors both measure the same resistance (about 1700 ohms at 20 deg C) then they must be OK. The dryer assesses the dryness of the load by differential temperature measurement before and after the condenser. So there are generally three things to check:
      1. The airflow. If any of the channels. filter or condenser is blocked then the over temp detection will kill the heater.
      2. Check the thermal cutout located near to the heater
      3. Fan impeller loose on the motor shaft
      4. Heating element is going open circuit when it heats up. (Usually this will cycle the heat on and off)
      5. Dry / cracked solder joints on the heater relay
      6. Inspect all wires and spade/edge connectors in the heater circuit wiring. You are looking for discoloration or scortching.
      7. Take the covers off. Load it up. In the dark let your eyes adjust to the darkness and then run the dryer. If you you have a bad connection somewhere you will see a sparks and fireworks.
