  • After over 2 1/2 years I finally have the last of the books that were part of this long drawn out project done.
    What did I do and why did I do it? Well you're going to have to watch to find out.
    This was a fun journey and I'm glad the last of these books are in from Houchen Bindery.
    Check out my prior videos in this playlist for explanations of the terms and how their binding request form works.
    All this and a rant about Consumers Distributing??? Does anyone even know what that is any more??? I doubt it....

    That company putting those books together is doing incredible work. They look amazing! I love how they’re able to create the covers and backs from the actual comics.

      I totally agree! They were the one that I went to after doing some digging online and I'm glad I made that choice.

      They really were. Some were hit and miss but for the most part they did have entertaining ideas within them...now if we just forget all about Speedball....

    This series has been a big help. Planning on binding a few series, even thinking about trying my own covers in photoshop.

      Glad you enjoyed them! Those terms were quite the mental block for me when I started off so I'm glad they helped! I have not tried to make my own customer covers or dust-jackets but I can say that the one I have here that came with someone else's book looks really good so it definitely can be done. Good luck with the binding!

    Very cool and useful binding of these. I have all the Marvel Annual crossover series and enjoy them quite a bit. I’m too cheap to get them bound but these are very impressive. Thanks for showing these.👍

      @@kevinkelley3906 patience pays off so keep at it. 🤙 I know I was surprised to find some issues I needed to finish Wonder Man at a con. Why a vendor would have even brought those I’ll never know but that was after I had exhausted the three LCS’s in my area and taken some road trips to the other side of town.

      @@tennesseefatsCONGRATS! Sometimes you find what you need in places where you thought you would never find what you need. Oh I do. I live in NY and my daughter lives in Virginia. My daughter and I go there everytime we go to visit her. I've found some missing issues. It's like gold. I have one a bit away from where I live that I try to get to. Also I go to my LCS. I dig most of the time and find some. It's somewhat disorganized but I always find a gem. Also I put a list of what I have on my phone with one of the note taker apps so I don't buy what I already have. MS sucks! It eats up your memory. Also I have a story about pretty much the worst shop I've been to.

    • @tennesseefats
      @tennesseefats  Рік тому

      Hah! Oh I know that phone trick all too well. I started with a small notebook with a simple pencilled in graph and I found that the pages were getting somewhat long due to the various projects I was working on. Having them in my phone now is so much easier. I even splurged and bought the CLZ app just so I can get the cover images of what I have so I would stop double buying!

    Beautiful books, cheers for the video! I will get some of my stuff bound at some point. Also things other folk don't like. Nth Man, Wolfpack etc.

      @tennesseefats  Рік тому

      Oh, some Nth Man you say? I was gifted a run of that series a few months back and was wondering what to do with them! Binding the series you love is a very rewarding experience as you end up with an asset that no one else has and that’s just not an option. 🤙

    Have you tried any binderies in Canada yet? One in North Van did a fine job, but too expensive for a basic bind. And I’ve got books at Lehman now. But Houchen does amazing work, I may have to get them down there.

    • @tennesseefats
      @tennesseefats  Рік тому +1

      I actually have not done anything in Canada yet myself, but I did buy a bundle of books that someone else bound with Lehman and actually posted a video comparison of the two and what I thought. I think I may give another one a go the next time I'm binding, but I have to build up the run first to get there.

    what does it cost to get a bunch of comics bound into a book like this with the non-plain covers?

    • @tennesseefats
      @tennesseefats  Рік тому +1

      It's a good question! I took a look back at the invoices and there is a base price and then there are add-ons when you throw in a ribbon or headbands etc. The base price that I've paid this company over the last two years has been $50 to $60. I believe the $60 is likely representative of a recent price increase. Then there's the shipping on top of that.

    hmm, all the annual crossovers of 90's marvel...i read most, but was not a big fan of them, in fact, i was sour as I quite liked annuals BEFORE they became crossover events
    Evolutionary war I'd judge the best of those, with 2nd place to Atlantis attacks!, based on memory. Evolutionary war by a LOT, to boot. What about you? rank your treasures?

    • @tennesseefats
      @tennesseefats  Рік тому +1

      Hmmmmm! That's a tough one. Based on Memory I'd say Atlantis Attacks but that's more for the Serpent Crown content for me....After the complete re-read that may be a totally different answer though. Everything changes with time.
