      Your videos are always top notch tips and of the utmost quality. I can tell you really put work into your productions. You deserve way more recognition. I watch several destiny videos a day and I have always and will always prioritize yours first if I see them. May I suggest that you start posting videos in the destiny forums (more than you currently have done already) for some audience targeting? I truly believe that you haven't gotten the exposure you deserve and that if you did, your channel would exponentially grow. Thanks for the quality content. Keep it up!

      Thanks again for such an informative video! You've become my go to for PVP tutorials. Your insights into breaking down game mechanics, techniques & approaches to engagements are second to none, and are applicable to any shooter. My KD & situational awareness has been on a steady rise since discovering your channel. Keep up the great work!!!

    I've noticed that I tend to win many 1v1 engagements at specific points on specific maps. I'm sitting here thinking about how I might typically approach some of those points to start an engagement and I realize that I'm coming off the left side of cover. Now I understand why I may be winning those engagements. Long story short, I think this video may be "eye opening" to some people. It was for me. TY CoolGuy.

    Never bothered to even think about a cover side advantage in destiny haha. One other really important cover tip you left out is that you should always try and approach cover from a distance, the player who is furthest from the corner will have a slight advantage over the other player as you'll see them slightly earlier.
    Great video as always man.

    Great video as always Cool Guy. One other thing about having cover on your right side is that in Destiny guardians throw grenades with the left hand. So no throw nades at a wall(which happens to me too often)

    Thank you for being a content producer that doesn't ask repeatedly for follow-up actions from your viewers (Like, comment, subscribe). This request bothers me the same way that beggars on the street do.
    As always, great content. I appreciate how you inform the community with these. As a newer PvPer I find them valuable!

    • @CoolGuyGames

      Thank you. I kind of do my own thing over here in UA-cam land. The things that I do are my own. I am proud of them. I have since day one always been on the side of. " If you like my video, you will hit the like button" " If you loved the video, you will become a subscriber". I put that in your hands and have no issues doing that. I do UA-cam just as much for myself as I do for you. I love doing this. So I never really feel the need to ask. The likes will come, the subscribers will come . It will work itself out if I do my part. If not, that is OK. I keep away from "BSing" you guys. I don't clickbait ( at least I 100% try not to). I had a suros Dis scout video long ago. My title was " great potential" lol. Because really, it does have some good potential, but that's about it. I have never used the term god roll. That is perception. That is OK too though. Things like that, and the more I analyze my comment sections, the more I see that I think you guys appreciate how I do this. I do however feel I need to have the reminder of " if you liked the video, a positive rating is appreciated" ending because of the recent changes to youtube. Which sucks, that is not my style. I have been given advice from some of the top UA-cam creators and that is the one of the things that I need to do right now. Everyone's views are down. The subscribers etc. This is because UA-cam apparently changed the algorithm to likes, comments and engagements on videos. As much as I hate to do that, I feel like I need to. A part of me feels that if I were to have done things differently. Such as the titles, the asking, the follows, the likes. Asking for all of that, I probably would have a little bit more of this fine community. But that's not my style. I am going to do this my way.

    • @colekapler5543
      @colekapler5543 8 років тому +1

      CoolGuy I hear everything you're saying. I'd like to share too that the way you did ask for support I felt was classy. I understand the new YT changes and can appreciate where people are coming from in looking for ways to keep their channels healthy.
      A certain streamer recently snuck in a plug to turn on "the little bell" because some of her viewers had asked her if she was still making content (which she had been, and they didn't see it). It came across to me as purely inauthentic. She may very well have been truthful.
      When the dust settles there will be plenty of space for people like yourself in the successful corner of this type of work/hobby if that's what you're interested in.
      Enrolling your community to support you and educating them on what that looks like is absolutely fine by my book. If you'd ever like feedback on that I'd be more than happy to share. Thanks for the reply.

    This information is invaluable! I agree with TORCH you are making the best content out there, practically speaking. I remember the first crucible tips video I watched from you where you talked about "a base to build off of" and "you do what you do well and you'll get back to that" but to actively work on your weak areas and that made me take a look at my gameplay and I still to this day do so! Thanks and very glad you are making a more serious run at this! You have full support here!

    this is one of the best/most interesting/helpful tip videos of all time. I love you for this. Good video - espeically the part about strafing. I generally don't put too much thought into how I strafe, but the way you show it, crossing the legs and moving quickly and only little from side to side does looks quite chaotic.
    I'm looking forward to hearing your thoughts on Theatre Mode. I used it extensively in Halo: Reach and regularly beg Bungie to bring it back. I wrote to Deej as late as yesterday, arguing that with the MM changes and increased exposure to players of a wider skill gap, it would be nice to review games from their side (if and when someone utterly destroys you) to pick up some tricks about how they play the game.

    I'm going to have to try and add both of these things to my game. I'd like to say I'm an above-average player in Destiny(in the bracket below yours CoolGuy) despite my KD because of inconsistencies in my gameplay or poor decisions that I go back and watch and instantly get mad at myself about. I have alot of things I've either been told or noticed that better players then I do that I want to add to my game. The struggle is adding them one-by-one and not getting frustrated in my failing at them or how slow progress is. I see people worse then me having better games or getting medals I have been unable to get because of my inconsistent gameplay, and it kind of sucks. I've been planning on sitting down and watching your, Mtashed, TrueVanguard, and KeenKoala's Crucible videos and taking notes, but lazy procrastination or wanting to actually play after watching happens. Keen ripped one of my rumble games to shreds on his Crucible School vids and I'm pretty thankful he did, because I added a few things to my game because of that.
    Question, after the wall of text: How should I go about trying to practice some of these things? I've tried doing some in Patrol, but I'll fully admit it's hard for me to either not get bored/keep myself motivate or get frustrated(ex. on of TV's old vids recommended to practice sniping by shooting a few objects in Patrol, but my aim without AA was so awful(and I'm a decent sniper) that I just gave up. Any advice or tips, other then to stop quitting(which I already recognize).

      That's something completely different.. That is due to Destiny's ridiculously low tick rate of 10. Overwatch has the same problem, but Overwatch's tickrate is better than Destiny's at 20. This is also why you trade so much in Destiny, where in csgo you're playing at 128 tickrate and it's almost impossible to trade.
      EDIT: Tickrate is different than fps, I know someone is going to comment and say "nuh uh Overwatch has a 60 tickrate." No that would be fps.

  • @jordanbarber6376
    @jordanbarber6376 8 років тому

    Awesome vid CoolGuy! I've noticed this before but if you're strafing quickly like the stutter step and the person you're battling isn't correcting fast enough, wouldn't they land the shot anyway because you moved back into their sights and land the shot for them. My rule generally is the more distance you make the correct, the less likely they'll land their shot if they aren't pacing and correcting accordingly. Tldr; Is it possible the stutter step is less effective than a long strafe?

    • @CoolGuyGames
      @CoolGuyGames  8 років тому +1

      Good question. It is hard to talk about, so envision as we walk through this. The video is to show what you can do with the legs. The rule of thumb: The shorter the engagement, the shorter the strafe is. The longer the distance you are, the wider you strafe. Long, side to side, wide strafes. At a distance, the whole goal is to make your opponent move their crosshair. That is the whole goal period in any strafe. You are strafing to land your shots. Secondary, you want them to move their aim. If you are short strafing in a long engagement, you are not making them work to hit you. Sometimes at a long distance, I will just strafe wide to one direction only. Not all the time, but I do throw this in. Take bannerfall. Say I am at the tree and someone is coming from mid or one of the doors. He will stop, sit there, and start strafing left and right. I will just go in one direction only, (example) way to the right. So he will be strafing and re-adjusting his aim. I will be just moving in one direction just aiming ( can you picture that? Hard to explain). On his end, I am moving to the left side of his screen, once he strafes right, he is off of me, he has to keep adjusting his reticle every time he strafes to his right. He will be moving his crosshair a little bit more if he is being cute with his strafe. If you are at a long distance, again, strafe wide. In between that long strafe you can do that stutter. That unpredictability. A lot of the time I will go wide left, stutter with the feet to give the illusion of going back right. and then go BACK left. When doing that I am slightly readjusting my right thumb aim, BUT I am controlling that engagement if that makes sense. I know what I am doing and making it hard on him. Vice versa. Commonly, the expected strafe is to do " the dance" left...then right....then left. As an example, If you go wide left, break right small a few steps, and then go back way left. That is kind of what I am talking about. Getting him to move that crosshair. Also, those small movements with the feet don't really effect your shot. If you are strafing to land your shots, those small movements left and right will be within the hitbox of your opponents head. Take a circle crosshair. As you move left, the outer right side of the crosshair will be aim assisted to hit the head. as you strafe right, you land a shot with the center of the crosshair, as you go further right, the outer left side of the crosshair will be on the head. Its an art man haha. It is very hard to explain. I hope that somewhat answered your question.

    • @jordanbarber6376
      @jordanbarber6376 8 років тому

      CoolGuy I see what you're talking about for sure. I think it's a subject that doesn't get enough talk. I think it's more so important than gun balance. I might've been more linearly thinking in my comment but see the merit of the stutter from your scenarios. My main is jade rabbit so it favors a long strafe. However I could see the stutter doing some mean work with a good auto or GOM pulse arch. Good rebuttal and good vid as always!

    Do you play battlefield? On pc? Would love to see some in depth analysis of BF1 like the content you do for Destiny.
