Not exactly the same. But almost. PS4 is using more particles and dynamics and has way better light/shadow. I think the ps3 could have used it too, but it lacks the resources.
Patrícia Vampyre Its very, VERY near, almost exactly the same -- the smokes are a little more volumetric, for instance. But nothing that even comes close to a great port using the extra GPU/CPU processing power from the newer generation consoles. At the end of the day, yes, both consoles offers roughly the same assets rendered on different pixel resolutions. Its clearly just a quick port -- and I can understand and live with that if I had only the PS4 version to play, no problem. It's the transition from one generation to another, and a tricky one -- because more hardware raw power means just that the 3D artists could put more and more details on the screen; and, if they don't want to? :) Or, as in this case, they designed all targeting PS3/360 specs? Do it all over again? As I said, perfectly understandable :) Cheers!
I like how it looks on ps3 better. The blurry graphics just enhance the retro 80's look. Ps4 just looks too sharp and modern unfit for such a horror classic like Alien
I've played this game so many times down the PS3 absolutely loved it and keep coming back to it just a shame you can never get that first play through experience again once you know where the scares are.
i had a hard time choosing whether to buy this on my ps3 or ps4pro.... finally i bought the ps3 version as it was only 10$ whereas ps4 version is 25$ i dont think the resolution upgrade (that is definitely present) is worth 15$ extra also (a personal opinion) i feel degraded graphics gives it a movie like feel to it which is great as the game is a lot like the original alien movie... after playing it on ps4 later on i found the ps3 one to be scarier as it had a darker feel to it's environment... or it was because i had already experienced the hell ship once XD for whatever console you get this, it is great it is really underrated and it must given a chance as the tension is extremely high and really enjoyable a few missions are really boring as it involves a lot of backtracking but it is made up by the amazing realistic feel of survival i would rate this game a 7/10 -really amazing but some missions are a pain also the game isnt for everyone as it heavily relies on stealth as is not a fast paced shooter that everyone is into these days
It feels like this video was made to favorably compare the PS3 version, because as good as it looks in static shots, the performance really drags it down. Visually, it holds up remarkably well, but the PS3 is clearly struggling, despite this being a constrained and slow paced game.
@@MrMord3n It's good for a graphical comparison. Reviews are for explaining the whole package. But I get what you mean, there's more than meets the eye here.
Graphicly its VERY close, other then resolution. Its a pitty the FPS is so bad on PS3. But its still very impressive. I used to play on X360 and it was great.
The only difference is the resolution, because the ps3 only has 720p scaled to 1080p meanwhile the PS4 standard resolution is 1080p, which is not a big difference. In case you wonder if the PS3 can run this game at 1080p, probably but with a high resources cost, just remember the PS4 install the whole game just to run more bright and with sharp textures, and of course the resolution.
No, what I'm saying is that the ps3 has an inferior hardware than ps4, but that is cause in the ps4 you install the textures and and of course the difference in resolution.
Mauricio Diaz The only difference is the resolution? lol. And the hardware on PS3 is inferior because you install the textures on the PS4 version? lolx2. The 'difference' in resolution is that the PS4 version has more than twice the pixels (detail) than the PS3 version. Let's conveniently skip over the superior effects on PS4 eh?
@@MrBenedick14 no it is not, you're assuming that every PC runs it at shitty 30fps. I run Alien Isolation at 4k 60fps, and I can go over 80fps at 1080p unlike your shitty 30fps console with atrocious anti-aliasing
@@lathrin I partially agree, I can max it out on my PC at 1080p and it will still run at 144FPS+, or at 90FPS+ with MotherVR, hell, it will run on Intel UHD Graphics at 60FPS, but don't argue with someone because of thier gaming platform man, the PS4 could pull off 60FPS if the devs cared in this game since it's an older title :/
So basically lighting/particle differences are really noticeable, but nothing else looks much different. (I guess the PS4 version is very slightly "cleaner", too)
This is like putting on a pair of glasses. Both versions are so incredibly made (especially the ps3 for its time!) but man its like night and day switching over to ps4. Looks so crisp.
I just got the PS3 version the other day digitally in the Halloween sale on Playstation store for just £5.79 Bargain! I also had the PS4 version and I'm pleased to say the PS3 version looks and plays just as good, also you can use the PS4 Controller to play it. Better than paying more for slightly sharper graphics.
this is one of those rare ocassions where an old gen game looks and works well compared with the next gen. People talk about cyberpunk but i remember how outrageously bad was shadow of mordor for ps3 and it pissed me off that nobody warned me.
Practically identical. Kudos to the devs for putting the same amount of effort in the last gen versions of the game rather than toning everything down an EXTRA notch while giving the shitty excuse that ''They can't handle it'' like most other developers do.
So far, the graphics are similar (not the same, of course) in both last and current gen. This is very obvious and we'll have to wait some time to really see what these consoles are really capable of. I mean, take a look at GTA IV and GTA V: same gen, same franchise, only a few years apart and a incredible difference between them.
i get the fact that people will pay a little more for extra lighting but with the same game? that's just absurd. the ps3 at the very least has FREE online play. the ps4 zilch
Yeah but alien isolation doesn't have multiplayer, i got ps4 because of the new games and exclusives, and because of a particular game called No Man's Sky.
The two versions are basically the same with some dowgrades/upgrades, the only thing that can impact the experience on PS3 is the occasional frame dip and the fact that the loading times are significantly worse. To the point where you actually have to wait on environments to load before a lot of the doors and vents open. Beyond that, they actually went above and beyond with this port. A lot of next-gen ports toward the end of the PS3's life were essentially unplayable garbage publishers decided to release for full price anyway. Not really the case with this one.
Im surprised they dont. The game has gained a lot of fans now. I think people started to appreciate it a lot more after we got that Aliens colonial marines mess of a game. I still play the Survivor mode in Aliens vs Predator 3 (2010) now. The game play is flawless. Great sound, and the animation is stunning.
AESCULAPTORmark3 Yeah, the game was pretty cool, I played it a lot, the multiplayer was fun as hell, hope they put it into PS4 , or at least a new game.
I was so pissed back when i got the PS4 in 2014 thinking that the graphics wheren't that much better. Now i went from playing Fifa 18 on PS4 to playing Fifa 10 on PS3 and the PS4 feels lightyears better even without comparing them side to side. I remember not being to impressed by the PS3 back in 2007 either.
I struggle between the idea getting PS4 so that I can do this game in much sharper clarity as it does seem to be quite dusty blurry appearance playing it on the PS3 PS4 just looks so much sharper
Some things that people should consider is that the difference between the 2 gens in terms of graphics depend on how the actuall graphics are engineered for the next gen version of whatever game you're comparing. A clear example of this is comparing 2 games lets say e.g GTA 5 and CoD Advanced Warfare. The next gen graphics are alot better in Advanced Warfare than GTA 5 because it all comes down to the way they actually engineer them i.e textures, rendering speed/distance. particle system etc. So its important to know that next gen versions of previous gen games wont neccesarily be alot better in terms of graphics ✌
CHRIS MENTAL I own every console, not bragging cuzz its mostly fun collecting. anyways I bought tbus Alein game fir my PS3, its only 8GB compared to nearly 55 GB on PS4 with all DLC. also, the ps3 graphics are VERY GOOD for Alien Isolation. save some $$ buy a used PS3 copy instead.

The only really conceivable difference I can see aside from a few effects here and there, would be the lighting and the character models; and even then there's still no major difference. The lighting is the only thing of those two I'd really consider important when it comes to the differences, for the sake of the atmosphere; it's not like I'm not going to stand there and admire the extra bit of glisten and detail on the Xenomorph's head before it bites my face off...
I'm sorry but this looks damn good on ps3. I own ps3 and xbox one versions of this game. I keep going back to my ps3 version for some reason. to me I like the contrast and slight grainy effects and picture on ps3 versions. for xbone version there's too much polish. just my opinion, the last of us and this game alien isolation are the best looking games on ps3.
No. Only a few games on 360/PS3 are actually rendered in 1920x1080. Pretty much every game is rendered in sub-HD. After the scene is rendered, it is resized to a resolution like 720p and the UI is slapped on at a higher resolution than the game runs at. 360/PS3 games were advertised as 1080p, but they aren't rendered in 1080p. What this means is, if you have an HDMI cable and a 1080p capable TV, the 720p image is resized to 1080p. Technically it's still sub-HD.
Ps3 version looks great but it does not run very well, the framerate drops from time to time and there is some screen tearing.Just get the ps4 version if you can.
Nicolás Olmos Because I am a sad bastard. But as someone who owns both versions of the game I can say there are a lot more improvements than "sharper on ps4"
its kind of funny, the slight downgrade for Ps3 makes it look more like the movies...it has the slightest blur to everything and its a little washed out.
I don't get it, on my PS3 the graphics look way better than it is visualized here in this video. I have been debating whether to get the PS4 versions of my PS3 games as I have recently got a PS4, but I really don't see the point if its just for sharpness.
Jayy Lee if it's not for visuals, get the ps4 version of this game for performance. It's no 60fps, but it's way better than the choppiness of the last gen versions believe me. It's also much more optimized and doesn't have as many bugs or glitches.
I got this on ps3 and the frame drops are just painfull when theres a bit of action going on, loading screens take forever too and the resulution is horrible. I was really pissed off with the ps3 version, its like they rushed it and only cared about making ps4 and pc playable.
I don't understand these comparisons? Are you really saying people want to know the difference between 2006-2007 Hardware vs 2014 Hardware? Fuck.. Just play any game on PC and switch between 1024x768 High Settings and 1920x1080 Ultra Settings BAAMMM! PS3 vs PS4. Some people don't really understand the big difference RESOLUTION is doing here. All added shit like Dynamic Lighting and AA are a given in the PS4 but the Resolution is doing EVERYTHING!
skirmich What has an old 4:3 ratio 1024x768 resolution got to do with anything here? Resolution is a large part but the effects difference between PS3 and PS4 is also significant, the PS4 GPU is using DX11 effects which are not supported on older PS3 hardware, so the effects are much inferior on PS3. For example in the first screen, I could see dust particles on the PS4 shot that were missing from the PS3 shot, it was pretty obvious.
TheT0nedude You could probably name other games where PARTICLES play a huge role like Tomb Raider, Battlefield, CoD, etc. But in this video the resolution is the Main Difference... Also the old ratio has everything to do since my comment was specific to PC. 1024x768 was a main resolution back in the good ol´days and Screen Ratio doesn't change my point at all anyway in the PS3 vs PS4 scenario.
skirmich fair enough on the 4:3 ratio (thought you were quoting a console res :P). The role the effects play in this particular game depends on the area you're in, and there are many areas where this will be relevant. This game is also well known for it's devastating atmospheric effects, my point is that in these many areas the difference between PS3 and PS4 is very significant. Something this video comparo above struggles to do any justice. :)
I have this game for both consoles :D I love the ps4's graphics and performance compared to the ps3. I couldn't beat it on ps3 because of all the lag that I went through on that game -_- clipping kind of lag that causes you to not go in the direction you meant to. so the ps4's performance on most games is uncomparable against ps3. ps3 is out of date now for games of to date. takes a minor gaming pc aka current gen ps4 and xbox one to run most games alright to good now. I compared planetside 2 from pc to ps4 and i have almost simular specs a ps4 on my desktop. SPECS: zotac gtx 750 ti 2gb gddr5, 8gb ddr3 crucial ram, fx 6300 6core 3.5ghz, asrock extreme2 970 r2.0, 500gb seagate hdd. and yet my pc plays better than the ps4 on that specific game in large battles. my pc stays over 30fps and goes well over 100fps. ps4 gets 23fps-60fps from a type of bottleneck. sure my pc has only 6cores and the ps4 has 8cores but for some odd reason the current gen is lacking in core performance. lacking more than the fx 6300 in core performance actually. I got the ps4 so I can do sit back and relax play kind of thing so it fits the purpose.
I completed it on ps3 and the lag is very minor, only occasionally. it certainly didn't stop me from finishing it. obviously you were unlucky or you're ps3 was having problems

Alien: Isolation is only one of the few recent games whose makers really cared for the PS3!
I agree. they did a great job pushing the ps3 to its full potential
Same with tomb raider 2013, game looks great on ps3
And 360. In my experience I see less frame drops on Xbox 360 vs Xbox one
The last of us, resistance 2 & 3, destiny port, uncharted 3. Those were well taken care of as well.

Or, as in this case, they designed all targeting PS3/360 specs? Do it all over again? As I said, perfectly understandable :) Cheers!
I like how it looks on ps3 better. The blurry graphics just enhance the retro 80's look. Ps4 just looks too sharp and modern unfit for such a horror classic like Alien
Ok.It looks better on PS4 but the ps3 version its not that Bad!.
Both versions can be played with same experience .
Alien looked better on PS3, colours more toned like in movie, PS4 version looks totally different
I've played this game so many times down the PS3 absolutely loved it and keep coming back to it just a shame you can never get that first play through experience again once you know where the scares are.
Its the best, I only played it last year for the first time and it still holds up today
The only thing that ps3 version looks bad are the load time on the doors (this can and will help Alien to kill you) and light effect
PS3 and 360 makes miracles
Heees
i had a hard time choosing whether to buy this on my ps3 or ps4pro....
finally i bought the ps3 version as it was only 10$ whereas ps4 version is 25$
i dont think the resolution upgrade (that is definitely present) is worth 15$ extra
also (a personal opinion) i feel degraded graphics gives it a movie like feel to it which is great as the game is a lot like the original alien movie...
after playing it on ps4 later on i found the ps3 one to be scarier as it had a darker feel to it's environment...
or it was because i had already experienced the hell ship once XD
for whatever console you get this, it is great
it is really underrated and it must given a chance as the tension is extremely high and really enjoyable
a few missions are really boring as it involves a lot of backtracking but it is made up by the amazing realistic feel of survival
i would rate this game a 7/10
-really amazing but some missions are a pain
also the game isnt for everyone as it heavily relies on stealth as is not a fast paced shooter that everyone is into these days
It feels like this video was made to favorably compare the PS3 version, because as good as it looks in static shots, the performance really drags it down. Visually, it holds up remarkably well, but the PS3 is clearly struggling, despite this being a constrained and slow paced game.
To be fair, it's a graphics comparison video.
@@SUB1KOIRA Sure, but what good is a comparison if it doesn't show you what you're getting when you upgrade to the newer console version?
@@MrMord3n It's good for a graphical comparison. Reviews are for explaining the whole package. But I get what you mean, there's more than meets the eye here.
Last gen still looks impressive!
ps3 version was having so much retro Alien vibe
Graphicly its VERY close, other then resolution. Its a pitty the FPS is so bad on PS3. But its still very impressive.
I used to play on X360 and it was great.
The only difference is the resolution, because the ps3 only has 720p scaled to 1080p meanwhile the PS4 standard resolution is 1080p, which is not a big difference. In case you wonder if the PS3 can run this game at 1080p, probably but with a high resources cost, just remember the PS4 install the whole game just to run more bright and with sharp textures, and of course the resolution.
Mauricio Diaz Did you say that 720p isn't much different from 1080p?
No, what I'm saying is that the ps3 has an inferior hardware than ps4, but that is cause in the ps4 you install the textures and and of course the difference in resolution.
Mauricio Diaz The only difference is the resolution? lol. And the hardware on PS3 is inferior because you install the textures on the PS4 version? lolx2. The 'difference' in resolution is that the PS4 version has more than twice the pixels (detail) than the PS3 version. Let's conveniently skip over the superior effects on PS4 eh?
I don't understand people who say that last gen is dead right now
probably because of the new games coming out for ps4 like uncharted4 resident evil 7 god of war and others
PS4 version is only slightly better looking.
the graphics are not much better on ps4 but the performance on ps4 is miles ahead of the ps3
It is better...it is same as pc...
@@martinytcz1762 it runs in 900p high 60fps (looks amazing) even on imac 2014 with intel iris lol
Ad Revenue imagine being this arrogant
Tech Hybrid nah- PS4 version is only a little bit sharper than the PS3 version. that's all. PS3 version is a better deal and looks just as good.

I own both versions. Love this game! Super terrifying XD
The music is adorable!
Just a little bit of detail here and there.
sehr schön gemacht!
this is one of those rare ocassions where an old gen game looks and works well compared with the next gen. People talk about cyberpunk but i remember how outrageously bad was shadow of mordor for ps3 and it pissed me off that nobody warned me.
No no no worst graphic all time thats dynt light 2
Why did you run the PS4 clip at 1:04 backwards?
PS3 holds its own, the PS4 is just sharper with more resolution, but still looks great
Practically identical. Kudos to the devs for putting the same amount of effort in the last gen versions of the game rather than toning everything down an EXTRA notch while giving the shitty excuse that ''They can't handle it'' like most other developers do.
ps3 is 8 years old now it still holds good.. i didn't get ps4 or xbox one. i just build my own pc and this game looks awesome in pc
Right.
To be honest most of next gen games have been a disappointment. Just look at The Order. Great graphics but bad gameplay.
+Onesimo Serna Jr. there are tons of games on ps3/ps4 with amazing graphics and gameplay. bloodbourne, the last of us, until dawn etc
played this on ps4 the graphics are fucking incredible
I have it for the PS4, think I'm gonna rebuy it for the PS3 and get that console tooo....
I am thinking of getting a PS3 brand new copy as well
So far, the graphics are similar (not the same, of course) in both last and current gen.
Yeah but alien isolation doesn't have multiplayer, i got ps4 because of the new games and exclusives, and because of a particular game called No Man's Sky.
well good luck using the controller. i used it and dear god, it was real bad.
able2ful1 The PS4 controller is so so much better than the PS3 controller, it actually fits in your hands.
ha! nice joke bro
able2ful1 well, it's easy enough for me, i can handle it very well :)
I really REALLY want them to do a remastered version of Aliens vs Predator for PS4. I fucking love that game, Specially the survivor mode.
AESCULAPTORmark3 Me too :/
Im surprised they dont.
Now i went from playing
Fifa 18 on PS4 to playing Fifa 10 on PS3 and the PS4 feels lightyears better even without comparing them side to side.
I remember not being to impressed by the PS3 back in 2007 either.
I struggle between the idea getting PS4 so that I can do this game in much sharper clarity as it does seem to be quite dusty blurry appearance playing it on the PS3 PS4 just looks so much sharper
Der einzigen Unterschiede sind bei Auflösung, Kantenglättung und Lichteffekten. Ansonsten 1 zu 1 das selbe
Last gen actually doesn't look half bad, I picked up the game on last gen on release and coming back now that I have a ps4. Not bad
Great comparison, i don't know if i should get the Xbox 360 version or the Xbox One version.
CHRIS MENTAL If you have an xbox one you might as well get that version
CHRIS MENTAL I own every console, not bragging cuzz its mostly fun collecting. anyways I bought tbus Alein game fir my PS3, its only 8GB compared to nearly 55 GB on PS4 with all DLC. also, the ps3 graphics are VERY GOOD for Alien Isolation. save some $$ buy a used PS3 copy instead.

OMG looks amazing on PS3 i'll buy this yes or yes
And yeah i got the game and enjoyed, I can't believe they were able to make this work on the PS3.
Was soll daran so schockierend sein?
I know, I know, I know, but, I have to have it on the PS4. Whenever I get one that is.
Looks still quite good on the PS3 / Sieht auf der PS3 aber noch ganz gut aus.
The PS3 looks pretty good, but the fire effects are much better on the PS4 but that's the only major difference and lighting.
Can i ask here? Did Crysis 3 playable on PS3?
The only really conceivable difference I can see aside from a few effects here and there, would be the lighting and the character models; and even then there's still no major difference. The lighting is the only thing of those two I'd really consider important when it comes to the differences, for the sake of the atmosphere; it's not like I'm not going to stand there and admire the extra bit of glisten and detail on the Xenomorph's head before it bites my face off...
I did that...
+Legend of the Untitled i notice a substantial decrease in aliasing on the ps4 version too
I agree
AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!! (2:28)
I'm sorry but this looks damn good on ps3. I own ps3 and xbox one versions of this game. I keep going back to my ps3 version for some reason. to me I like the contrast and slight grainy effects and picture on ps3 versions. for xbone version there's too much polish. just my opinion, the last of us and this game alien isolation are the best looking games on ps3.
absolutely no reason to buy this game for new consoles except of course you wanna spend a lot of money for a little bit of extra smoke here and there!
Hey men I have a question:
How did you upscaled the 720p to 1080p on PS3...for me...my HDMI cable runs at 720p IF I played this game O.o
But some sort of games like GT6 it runs to 1080p
+Hokage i dont understand because on my tv all ps3 games runs in 1080p
+Hokage GT6 is 960x1080p or 1024x1080p. Its not full 1920x1080 for sure.
no you don't.
Looking this in 2020 when ps5 just came out 😂
Im nont one for last-gen ports, but damn this looks good. Maintains the atmosphere as good as the ps4 version does.
Not a Big Diffrence :D
Ps3 version looks great but it does not run very well, the framerate drops from time to time and there is some screen tearing.Just get the ps4 version if you can.
the frame drops are only minor. screen tearing is minor too and really doesn't bother me
+blood and silver It bothered me enough but If you were able to look past it, good for you.
For me dude FPS drops when the effects too high like Flamethrower or when I get the Access Turner T_T
Erl John Cales Yep me too.
+Jman Rising The most I hate moments in v1.02...I'll reach Samuel to save him at Apollo but the FPS super choppy but the next level became smooth
Sharper on ps4 that's all.
sad bastard. go watch the video
+First Second he's actually right, it is just sharper overall
Nicolás Olmos
Because I am a sad bastard. But as someone who owns both versions of the game I can say there are a lot more improvements than "sharper on ps4"
1080p and 30fps on current gen? That's a shame to cover your ears man. I thought it's gonna be 60fps but hell no.First Second
bad in comparison with pc
The Graphics look almost the same as "The Chronicles of Riddick" unless they're using the same engine.
the darkness and riddick look very similar as its the same engine and developer. this is quite an improvement
its kind of funny, the slight downgrade for Ps3 makes it look more like the movies...it has the slightest blur to everything and its a little washed out.
***** don't hate on CGI like a fool, most CGI in movies now is so good that you never even know that its there. and most CGI IS good.
***** Alright Glen Beck.
Jayy Lee This video is scaled up to 1080p rather than native 720
Jay lee PS4 also has more players
Well if sharpness doesn't matter to you, drop the resolution to 640x480 and get 60fps...
This comparison mada my mind: I have to buy the PC version!!!
Wonder this game in third person view like dead space game but more scarier feelings
When the fuck has alien isolation been on ps3 and xbox360 :0
Ps3 version as a blur effect as the 80s movies :)
Because of the FXAA
I got this on ps3 and the frame drops are just painfull when theres a bit of action going on, loading screens take forever too and the resulution is horrible. I was really pissed off with the ps3 version, its like they rushed it and only cared about making ps4 and pc playable.
is the ps3 30fps? and is the ps4 60fps?
GDDR 3 256MB vs DDR 5 8GB???
PS3 is really 2004 and 2005 hardware.
cooler sound!
This feels like a Policenauts camparison
