7/27/2022 1rod has been my inspiration since day 1. The summer skunk grind is real right now going back to the basics which is easy to forget when you’re desperate for a bite
jtboll00 hahaha ^^ agreed with what you said, although I've had a bass jump out a foot out of the water to grab it when I got it hung in a tree once :P
its called a wacky ring o-ring tool.. they sell em at most fish shops.. I buy my O-rings on ebay cause they are just cheap.. idk maybe its just me but seems like you already knew that
This is a great video! I been fishing on and off for the past 5 years but never really tried any plastics or finesse baits. I’ve always been about live bait such as worms or minnows. Although it’s fun catching fish that way I kinda got tired of it and decided to finally start getting into plastics such as senkos, and even though I haven’t landed a fish yet I have had little baby bass hit my smaller tubs. Showing me there’s a will and there’s a way. Until then my box is pretty full with colors now 😁
I literally came back to watch your old videos couple hours ago and i saw this one, i then went fishing and caught my new pb today using your tips! Thank you so much
Thanks for the tips. I tried the skip technique and caught a 4.27 lb largemouth on my second cast. It's this biggest fish caught from our boat on our small pond in over two years.
Very nice, man! Congratulations on the 1 Millions views! I still have a long journey for the 1M line. Hahahahaha. And I am very glad that you finally started a "how to" series, Mike! I mean...you got the knowledge and the techniques -- I'm sure folks will want to learn from you! I found the video awesome, by the way. And, of course, wacky rigged for life, man. Lol. That's wobbling action is the thing! Once you come to Philly this Fall, we will definitely do some fishing! After my father leaves in July, I'll focus on expanding my Species list. Gotta explore all over again.
I believe this was the first video of yours that I watched. Up until this year i've never really used plastics. But this morning I caught a bass on a Texas rigged Baby Brush Hog and three more on a Texas rigged Senko. I have a wacky rig tool on the way. Keep up the great work.
This is awesome, thanks for this! I've been binge-watching your videos for the past week since I found you, and was literally thinking last night that I should leave a comment somewhere and ask if you had any interest in posting some videos like this. Personally I would like to see some tutorial/tip videos for jigs, namely how to fish them and when/how to use jig trailers. Thanks again man, and keep the awesome videos coming!
One piece of advice. Let out some line when the lure hits the water. Your line will swing back at you away from your intended strike zone as it descends if you don't. You will just have to get used to keeping an eye on your line for that portion of the cast in case of a hit on its way down.
I wasn't a big fan of senkos but I bought a pack and I watched this vid and now it's hands down my favorite bait!!! Thank you for making this video. You have made me a better fishermen!!!
Came back from the Adirondack Mountain area from a 10 day camping trip, lost so many Gary Yamamoto senkos, I wasn't using the ring, smallies really tear them up ordered a bunch off Amazon. The senkos got expensive at the camp store at like 10 bucks a pack, my best day was 7 smallies, not great but respectful. I mostly fish in my Jackson Kilroy kayay. Really like how it gets you to the places you want to be.
Mike, I have never used a plastic worm like the Senko to catch fish. Thanks to THIS video I had to try and have caught several now with the weightless Texas rig. It was AWESOME! Now I will try to wacky rig. Thanks and keep the teaching videos coming.
I would just like to take the time to say thank you for your how to vids. I've been only really fishing hardcore for about a little over a year now so I'm still on been status. I'm a NOVA fisherman residing right off the Potomac in Loudoun County. I've always had terrible outings with my senkos until I picked up some tips from his vid. I went out at 6 am on July 4th and was at my local pond for a solid 2.5 hours. I ended up landing 9 fish and losing three all on pumpkin 4" senkos so needless to say it was by far my most productive outing. Keep up the good work with the vids, you sir have earned yourself another sub my friend.
love your videos i went fishing for 3 hours walked 2 miles didnt catch nothing but cant complain i got a 5 to 4 pound smallie yesterday my iggest yet....love ur vids
I just started watching your videos and I go to the same spots as you because I live in ellicott city too. It is so much fun to see you catch huge fish at places I fish! Your videos are amazing! Keep on making them and making your viewers happy because I sure am!
just picked up a bait caster reel (abu garcia) and picking up the wacky rig and texas rig and boy oh boy.... that has really upped my bass fishing. thank you for the videos. you taught well and helped me out a lot.
Thanks for your tutorials. I had half an hour to fish after work tonight and used the wacky rig for the first time. Got a three and four pounder using a white senko . And a few other bites as well....
Before leaving a spot, it is a good idea to make multiple casts in a small 20 foot area. Burn the bait in. Then shoot a finesse bait in there and get ready! Perfect demonstration of the technique! Fire up the fish!!
I'm semi new to fishing bass, I never have much luck. I watched your video ON THE WATER and ended up catching 4 fish. Went the next day and caught 6! Thank you. I realized that i was only catching 0 or 1 fish, was that I was fishing way too fast. I slowed it down, let it set and pop a few times. Missed a few bites due to too much slack but i think that's where a braid to floro might be better than the mono. Anyway, thank you and tight lines!
thanks mike, i live down in Orlando fl and i have a pond near me that holds monster bass my biggest is 14.03 next time you are down here stop by and catch a few
Jose Salazar when you are around pads and mats pop it like twice then let it sit for a couple of seconds. When you are by weeds but they aren't at the surface don't pop it just reel slow
@Frank Mclain pull the hooks away from the body just a little bit where there is space between the rubber and hook. You'll get more weeds but it helps get more hookups
I truly enjoy your how to videos. they are so informative and simple to understand. You are now my main channel to watch...I only have two more fisherman that I watch.
Usually whenever I cast I watch the worm and as soon as it hits the water I pull my line out 4 times and watch the line until it stops pulling from the senko falling
Visually follow your line and watch as it slowly sinks in the into the water. When your senko hits bottom, you'll notice the line sink rate changes (both on speed and on arc)
I got a heart on a 3 year old video comment ❤️. Mike i know you can see this! First of all dam.... I used to fish so much. Fishing was my life. I’d fish before school, after school then I’d fish all Saturday and allll Sunday. Mike was the first channel I watched , he used to carp fish off a bride with bread lmaoo. Then John B blew up and lunkers, I’m 19 turning 20 in 3 months and I remember watching these videos when I was 13~14 I remembered being so inspired by these you tubers and I tried to make videos myself. Dam time has changed so much, I’m out of high school been in college for 2 years , I’m working full time. I wish I could go fishing again, funny actually.. before I would struggle to fish because I never had money, I thought buying $15 braided fishing line was a lot but I would save up and be so happy when I bought it . Not it’s not a money issue but a time issues lol who would of thought. You can but lures but you can’t buy time haha
from one fisherman to another I feel the need to share a bit of info. after all we can all learn a trick off each other. use 2 o-rings Instead of one and make sure you criss cross them. run a hook in the crossed section. this will make your hook perpendicular to your senko which greatly increases your hook set. also allows you to cast harder and you break less rings. using a Single o-ring will cause you to not only break more rings but it also makes your hook parallel with your senko, which if you think about it tends to pull out of the fishes mouth causing those bites to be missed sometimes. simple trick I learned from another fisherman and will improve anyone's game. happy fishing.
Came back to this video I watched last year when I was new bass fishing, now I caught my pb of 8lbs on a weightless Texas rigged senko using the same pattern
Nice video, a Senko to me a target specific bait. Find targets that you want to fish, a small pocket, stump, small brush or lay-down. you can just throw like a worm and fish grass too but mainly that's what I would use it for.

Thank you for this vid! I watched this video, then took out some watermelon yamasenkos on a Texas rig to my favorite spot and absolutely slayed the large mouth there!! A very new experience as I usually catch nothing but some tiny sun fish and perhaps a couple mid size catfish lol. I hope all is well and that you get back to weekly videos soon, keep up the great work!!
i just broke off on what i believe was a massive carp in a small pond using a wacky rig. 12lb test snapped it clean off. i saw the tail and most of the body
I prefer 2 quick twitches on the up pull. Then I twitch the senko with slack line a few times. I try to present it like a worm fell in the water and dont like it. Trying to get to top with short twitches. Pre-spawn and spawn we will see if technique work in post. Tight lines.

+1Rod1ReelFishing Which way of rigging is more effective?
1Rod1ReelFishing ha that's awesome.. that most have been one hungry bass.. and jed I only rig mine wacky.. right in the middle.. bass love it!
Ok thanks but do the senkos come off when you rig them wacky? I've heard it does so what can I buy to stop it?

Today I caught a 4 pound bass in a neighborhood pond. This was the first good sized bass I caught. Thank you so much!
What’s your best now? Just curious

Can u fish a senko in clear water with a bunch of little rocks and about 2-4ft deep water? Any help is appreciated.

Is it me or do wacky rig hooks look like circle hooks almost?
shaped similar to circle hooks for sure - the difference is that the hook point doesn't curve in like circle hooks
That makes sense. Thanks!
I have used both circle and wacky hooks with no problems.
Good to know!
They look really close to a circle hook
love your videos i went fishing for 3 hours walked 2 miles didnt catch nothing but cant complain i got a 5 to 4 pound smallie yesterday my iggest yet....love ur vids

how did you set up your baitcaster for weightless lures without getting any backlashes?
Set it up the same way as you would any lure. The senko without any weight is actually pretty heavy.

eddie smith a senko weighs alot
eddie smith a senco weighs alot more than most worms. but I use a spinning rod and reel when I'm worm fishing.

what hooks are you using for the wacky rig
most likely a wacky hook
+chriscomer really any wacky hooks would work great
A weedless worm hook
Chris Comer 2/o hook
6:28 nothing better than to catch a fish when you're demonstrating. Shows that the technique and bait works
What I am confused about is how do u tell when you senko has sunk all the way to the bottom? I have been trying to figure this out.
Usually whenever I cast I watch the worm and as soon as it hits the water I pull my line out 4 times and watch the line until it stops pulling from the senko falling
if you're watching your line closely the arch in the line is different when the bait is falling vs. when it's resting on the bottom
Visually follow your line and watch as it slowly sinks in the into the water. When your senko hits bottom, you'll notice the line sink rate changes (both on speed and on arc)
+1Rod1ReelFishing I like your rods
I'm glad the camera was pointing directly at your sneakers while showing how to set the bait up haha

"How to fish a tube?" anyone?
you can usually cast it an reel like a kastmaster or other lure that sink or cast it and let I sink to the bottom and reel-twitch it

Spinnerbaits or swim jig
from one fisherman to another I feel the need to share a bit of info. after all we can all learn a trick off each other. use 2 o-rings Instead of one and make sure you criss cross them. run a hook in the crossed section. this will make your hook perpendicular to your senko which greatly increases your hook set. also allows you to cast harder and you break less rings. using a Single o-ring will cause you to not only break more rings but it also makes your hook parallel with your senko, which if you think about it tends to pull out of the fishes mouth causing those bites to be missed sometimes. simple trick I learned from another fisherman and will improve anyone's game. happy fishing.

Nice video, a Senko to me a target specific bait. Find targets that you want to fish, a small pocket, stump, small brush or lay-down. you can just throw like a worm and fish grass too but mainly that's what I would use it for.
Respect to the description
I've found that the o ring does quite the opposite, my first time fishing the Wacky Rig, I caught 6 bass on a pond, only losing 1 worm, ( YUM DINGER) when I used o rings, my baits ( Gary Yamamoto AND Yum Dingers) tore in half and were completely ruined, and I didn't catch a single fish even though I got plenty of bites.
