    This is a great video! I been fishing on and off for the past 5 years but never really tried any plastics or finesse baits. I’ve always been about live bait such as worms or minnows. Although it’s fun catching fish that way I kinda got tired of it and decided to finally start getting into plastics such as senkos, and even though I haven’t landed a fish yet I have had little baby bass hit my smaller tubs. Showing me there’s a will and there’s a way. Until then my box is pretty full with colors now 😁

I mean...you got the knowledge and the techniques -- I'm sure folks will want to learn from you! I found the video awesome, by the way. And, of course, wacky rigged for life, man. Lol. That's wobbling action is the thing!
    Once you come to Philly this Fall, we will definitely do some fishing! After my father leaves in July, I'll focus on expanding my Species list. Gotta explore all over again.

    One piece of advice. Let out some line when the lure hits the water. Your line will swing back at you away from your intended strike zone as it descends if you don't. You will just have to get used to keeping an eye on your line for that portion of the cast in case of a hit on its way down.

    Came back from the Adirondack Mountain area from a 10 day camping trip, lost so many Gary Yamamoto senkos, I wasn't using the ring, smallies really tear them up ordered a bunch off Amazon. The senkos got expensive at the camp store at like 10 bucks a pack, my best day was 7 smallies, not great but respectful. I mostly fish in my Jackson Kilroy kayay. Really like how it gets you to the places you want to be.

    I would just like to take the time to say thank you for your how to vids. I've been only really fishing hardcore for about a little over a year now so I'm still on been status. I'm a NOVA fisherman residing right off the Potomac in Loudoun County.
    I've always had terrible outings with my senkos until I picked up some tips from his vid. I went out at 6 am on July 4th and was at my local pond for a solid 2.5 hours. I ended up landing 9 fish and losing three all on pumpkin 4" senkos so needless to say it was by far my most productive outing.
    Keep up the good work with the vids, you sir have earned yourself another sub my friend.

    I'm semi new to fishing bass, I never have much luck. I watched your video ON THE WATER and ended up catching 4 fish. Went the next day and caught 6! Thank you. I realized that i was only catching 0 or 1 fish, was that I was fishing way too fast. I slowed it down, let it set and pop a few times. Missed a few bites due to too much slack but i think that's where a braid to floro might be better than the mono. Anyway, thank you and tight lines!

      Usually whenever I cast I watch the worm and as soon as it hits the water I pull my line out 4 times and watch the line until it stops pulling from the senko falling

    • @1Rod1ReelFishing
      @1Rod1ReelFishing  8 років тому +1

      if you're watching your line closely the arch in the line is different when the bait is falling vs. when it's resting on the bottom

      @caughtbyconsul96 8 років тому +1

      Visually follow your line and watch as it slowly sinks in the into the water. When your senko hits bottom, you'll notice the line sink rate changes (both on speed and on arc)

      I got a heart on a 3 year old video comment ❤️. Mike i know you can see this! First of all dam.... I used to fish so much. Fishing was my life. I’d fish before school, after school then I’d fish all Saturday and allll Sunday. Mike was the first channel I watched , he used to carp fish off a bride with bread lmaoo. Then John B blew up and lunkers, I’m 19 turning 20 in 3 months and I remember watching these videos when I was 13~14 I remembered being so inspired by these you tubers and I tried to make videos myself. Dam time has changed so much, I’m out of high school been in college for 2 years , I’m working full time. I wish I could go fishing again, funny actually.. before I would struggle to fish because I never had money, I thought buying $15 braided fishing line was a lot but I would save up and be so happy when I bought it . Not it’s not a money issue but a time issues lol who would of thought. You can but lures but you can’t buy time haha

    from one fisherman to another I feel the need to share a bit of info. after all we can all learn a trick off each other. use 2 o-rings Instead of one and make sure you criss cross them. run a hook in the crossed section. this will make your hook perpendicular to your senko which greatly increases your hook set. also allows you to cast harder and you break less rings. using a Single o-ring will cause you to not only break more rings but it also makes your hook parallel with your senko, which if you think about it tends to pull out of the fishes mouth causing those bites to be missed sometimes. simple trick I learned from another fisherman and will improve anyone's game. happy fishing.

    I've found that the o ring does quite the opposite, my first time fishing the Wacky Rig, I caught 6 bass on a pond, only losing 1 worm, ( YUM DINGER) when I used o rings, my baits ( Gary Yamamoto AND Yum Dingers) tore in half and were completely ruined, and I didn't catch a single fish even though I got plenty of bites.

    Thank you for this vid! I watched this video, then took out some watermelon yamasenkos on a Texas rig to my favorite spot and absolutely slayed the large mouth there!! A very new experience as I usually catch nothing but some tiny sun fish and perhaps a couple mid size catfish lol. I hope all is well and that you get back to weekly videos soon, keep up the great work!!

    i just broke off on what i believe was a massive carp in a small pond using a wacky rig. 12lb test snapped it clean off. i saw the tail and most of the body

    I prefer 2 quick twitches on the up pull. Then I twitch the senko with slack line a few times. I try to present it like a worm fell in the water and dont like it. Trying to get to top with short twitches. Pre-spawn and spawn we will see if technique work in post. Tight lines.

    1 rod, have you ever had any luck using a rattle trap? I own a couple different sizes and colors. and when I'm catching bass on crank baits I will sometimes switch to a rattle trap but have NEVER caught bass on them. what am I doing wrong? I normally just retrieve them with a slow to medium speed.

    I tried these in the monongahela river and I never catch anything. do you have better luck without weight or with weight?
