The new Jeep Grand Cherokees are BEYOND AMAZING!!! I love my 2020! So smooth and unbelievably quiet on the road. Not sure why I waited this long to switch from my old Explorer. 👍🏽
Thanks for this video. I've been calling Uconnect for the last month or so, and they have never mentioned anything about using the glove compartment USB, or voice command for "Setup, software update." You saved me from having to go to the dealer to have my update done.
You are my new best friend! I struggled and struggled to find an update and your video was the ticket. Although the only hiccup I ran into was when I had to open it to unzip it. I didn't have the unarchive app beforehand. Otherwise, your step by step instructions were clear and concise! Thank you!! 👍🏼😊👏🏼👏🏼
Great video! Here are some troubleshooting tips if you're unable to get your update going. If your UConnect system does not recognize your thumb drive, i.e., if nothing happens after inserting the thumb drive even after waiting a minute or two then you can troubleshoot using the radio's Media button. With the thumb drive still inserted, press Media then press USB and look for a message. In my case the message read: 'files are unreadable'. This can be the case even after correctly formatting the thumb drive. UConnect instructions say to use NTSF format, but other videos show others having success using various formats or after not specifying any format. The message 'files are unreadable' is a hint that the thumb drive partition scheme is incorrect. Using your computer (Disk Utility on Mac) verify that your thumb drive partition scheme is set to Master Boot Record and not GUID partition. In Disk Utility on Mac select 'Show all devices', not 'Show only volumes', in the left-hand pane. This will show your thumb drive and its particular partition(s) instead of just the thumb drive itself. You'll need to format the particular partition, not the device, and it's advisable to have a single partition for UConnect update purposes. Ensure the partition scheme is set to Master Boot Record, not GUID partition. Google is your friend for understanding the differences between GUID and MBR, but you will not be able to update the system unless you're using MBR partitioning on the thumb drive. Lastly, on my system (2015 JGC) it was a minute or two before the update notification appeared on the screen. This wait had me thinking something still wasn't right since videos had down a quicker response by UConnect in recognizing an inserted thumb drive. Patience pays off. Once I'd corrected the partition scheme then the update proceeded as shown in the video.
Hi, idk if you can reply to this comment or not but I had an issue with jeep grand cherokkee (2015) and I tried looking for software updates under 15.06.1 update. I found the required update which was used by others under the same software update (15.06.1). I have Uconnect_VP4.18.45.01-My13-17 which was recommended by others having the same model. Your video is helpful to a point. For instance, on my 2014 Jeep Grand cherokee, if you give the voice command...setup...software update....its going to try to connect to satellite radio. Ive been thru this rig-a-maro for the second time in 4 yrs. Thus time as last, it didn't take after the software update which is pretty straight forward. This sounds incredibly annoying. What battery did you replace, in your Jeep or in the key fob? It could be the fob battery, as in my experience, and it'd be the cheapest / easiest to test. If that doesn't work, I've "heard" that you can disconnect your car battery for like 30mins and then reconnected it to sort of "reset" the electronics. @@wandacarner4683 nope. nothing should be in or around the glove box that would affect your navigation, from factory anyway. if your navigation is messing up, and your settings are not sticking - it could be your radio is actually mechanically failing and would need to be replaced. :(

So. Did it fix the issue with phone calls? I have a 2019 Rubicon with the exact system from what it looks like. And the dumb thing screws up incoming calls about 2 out of 3 times. If I answer the phone manually it will sometimes override the system and let the call come through. But the easiest thing to do is just turn off the Bluetooth.
Atomkey Sinclair that sounds incredibly annoying. The 2019’s have different software that should update over the air. The upgrade I performed did solve my Bluetooth issue. I recommend seeing if you can locate a way to manually check for updates and do that.

This may not be your situation, but something to consider perhaps?
Alejandro Fajardo depends on the year of your vehicle, the older ones simply were not capable and that would call for a head unit replacement. Newer ones update over-the-air, so you shouldn’t have to use these procedures.
Eric McCullough I was having issues with the Bluetooth connection and this hands free update did resolve it. I do update everything when updates are available; so for me, updating it before having issues could have prevented some frustrating moments.
Well I did the update and it went pretty much just as your video showed. I was hoping this would fix the 3-4 second Bluetooth lag I have, but it didn’t. Hopefully it didn’t affect anything else. Thanks.
That could be another issue; however, the update is worth a shot... if it doesn't work then you know the only other option would be to seek the dealers advice or replace the head unit.
Followed step and it worked in my 2013 Grand Cherokee! Anyone notice any difference between before and after? I also have a 2019 Grand Cherokee and the Uconnect is so more better looking.
It did fix my bluetooth issue, but that's all I noticed. I now have the 2019, luckily it upgrades over the air automatically... so no more of this stuff. I agree, it's a lot better looking.
MarioNotMerio depending on the year of your vehicle; some newer models are updated over the air. You should be able to check the software version with what’s available on their site.
CRISTO JESUS ES DIOS yeah that's my next mental battle. Do I or don't I want to spend that kind of money. It's a 2013 Wrangler. I usually use google maps on my iPhone as it will tell you if you can save time taking another route. I don't know if the NAV does that. If I find a way to load it for a lot cheaper or nothing I will definitely post it but the google maps update all the time and it's free.
I was fortunate that the update did resolve my Bluetooth from constantly disconnecting and reconnecting. I think the Uconnect updates would be better if they'd disclose exactly what the updates do. I never got a clear answer to the 'fixes', but yes, it did indeed resolve my issue.

If it’s a reg pc does the name of the file when you export it change? Or remain the same?
I have 2015 grand Cherokee limited, I was doing the 18.45.01 Uconnect update and suddenly the update failed on the 11 part saying "Sierra Wireless: bolo file install failed. Please remove USB stick to reset." and I've replugged the USB and tried another USB but nothing change. How can i get back my old software version or download an older one, the vehicle was on 18.11.07. PLS HELP.
I would recommend contacting Uconnect Support www.driveuconnect.com/contact-us.html
@@242Shaker i tried but i can’t cz im outside the US i’m in middle east you can say. If you have any old version like 17.11 or 18.11 plz can you send it on google drive or somghing.
Interesting, I have. 2019 Cherokee, but Android auto is not launching when o connect the phone ( Xiaomi mi8). Wonder if maybe needs an update
Javier Bengoa worth checking, let me know!
@@242Shaker Is up to date, maybe something in the setup that I didn't find yet or maybe Xiaomi
i have a 2015 caravan. What does this update change?
The Duke of Monkland if there is an update for your vehicle, there should be noted that describes what it does. every car/system is different.
I have a 2012 liberty and I dont have a USB port in my glovebox or center console. Will the one attached to the rhb 430n work. I need to update my maps.
White Lives Matter map updates are usually done via a new dvd being installed in your nav system. uconnect updates are firmware for the radio itself. you will likely have to visit the dealer for a new dvd; however, i just use Google maps or Waze on my phone.
Does this also update the Garmin GPS software?
No it does not, just the radio firmware.
is there a difference between mos Fat and fat 32 I'm not getting the fat 32 option
XTheBEAST fat32 should be fine.
SHAKER242 I’m doing everything you’re saying. For what ever reason it’s not working. Thanks for the info.
Hi, please, the assistant in repairing the car recorder
It works but in a dodge image or sign appears and does not make any sound or change in the screen image
Possible link to know the screen or device
Start with trying to identify your radio... then you may be able to Google search a manual. auto-update.garmin.com/auto-update/site/identifyUnit
@@242Shaker It is possible to upload the definition to the device because I didn't get anything in this link
@@242Shaker My device does not open anything and does not change, nor can I do anything, only a picture or a bull's head sign or a dodge caravan sign appears and goes and then appears

@@242Shaker There are many updates and I don't know which one matches the device I have
My device mygig 730n RER
And in the event that they downloaded the update, how do they transfer them to the device?
And sorry for the inconvenience
Mine says I have no updates. It still doesn't want to connect 😪
All of a sudden my navigation system my phone pairing preset music on my 2009 Jeep Grand Cherokee quit working
I had the same thing happen to me once, turned out I had replaced my fob and these settings were stored in my key fob... meaning when i used my key fob, the jeep knew it was me and set the seat, radio and phone pairing to my personal settings. This may not be your situation, but something to consider perhaps?
Nice video. Very helpful.
My car doesn't provide the option for Software Update, any help?
Alejandro Fajardo depends on the year of your vehicle, the older ones simply were not capable and that would call for a head unit replacement. Newer ones update over-the-air, so you shouldn’t have to use these procedures.
Does this work for a 08 Jeep Grand Cherokee srt8
Maaza Mohamed got me dude... you’d have to see if an update is available.
What changed after you did the update? If mine isn’t having any problems do you recommend? What is the “hands free” update?
Eric McCullough I was having issues with the Bluetooth connection and this hands free update did resolve it. I do update everything when updates are available; so for me, updating it before having issues could have prevented some frustrating moments.
Well I did the update and it went pretty much just as your video showed. I was hoping this would fix the 3-4 second Bluetooth lag I have, but it didn’t. Hopefully it didn’t affect anything else. Thanks.
Eric McCullough yeah, I still have lag too...
SHAKER242 im wondering if that will work for mines because my volume is not working but everything else is working
I agree, it's a lot better looking.
very well explained thanks !!
Thanks for the video!
It says there is no update for mine but I highly doubt mine has ever been updated
MarioNotMerio depending on the year of your vehicle; some newer models are updated over the air. You should be able to check the software version with what’s available on their site.
@@242Shaker is a 2013 JGC Overland but ill try and find what is the latest version thank you though great vid
How much is it. I'm sure is not free. Is it?? I meant to download the software to update the navigation on the jeep.
The firmware for the uconnect radio is free... but any navigation updates will likely cost you.
SHAKER242
Oh really?? Thank you for replying.. I appreciated! God Bless You!
SHAKER242 yes the maps update is $595.00. However, I believe they do not offer it for the Wrangler. I believe they do for the Cherokee.
wanderingelkless
Wow to expensive!!
Did it fix anything?
I was fortunate that the update did resolve my Bluetooth from constantly disconnecting and reconnecting. I think the Uconnect updates would be better if they'd disclose exactly what the updates do. I never got a clear answer to the 'fixes', but yes, it did indeed resolve my issue.
What does this update change?
Hawker Boys Various things, your update may be different. Mine fixed a Bluetooth issue I started having.
Do u get apple play wirh the update?
Jr El Guero No, not with this upgrade. The stereo has to support CarPlay, this 2013 version did not.
I have a 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee and it can't be upgraded, according to the software.
Same.
Do you find any solution ? I have the same problem with my 2012
@manuelulloa4146
Uconnect not working on my 2014 Dodge Challenger. I can hear people calling me but they can't hear me. Please help.
have you tried via bluetooth? like a headset, I'm asking cuz if the headset works then the problem could be with your car's internal microphone.
The only way it works is when I connect my phone to the car radio with a cable.
@@rudyhernandez8446 check the fuses, there is one for the jeep #67 for the CD/DVD/Bluetooth Hands-free Module - hopefully this is it. you'll need to get it looked at.

I hit phone button and say setup software update and it asked me what devise I want to delete, says sorry nothing about 911 new number or something different. I can’t seem to get it to work
Jennifer Mack there is two buttons, one is the phone and the other is voice commands. Try the looking again.
yes, I hit the phone and it says that my phone is connect just like in the video.
Jennifer Mack No, I mean press the voice command button and not the phone.
