- WHAT Happened to MIZUNO Irons? Have they lost their FEEL, or have they kept it in the Blade option and actually expanded their MP Mizuno Pro Irons range to now include more technology to allow more golfers to play them???

This year (2023) Mizuno his putting out 8 different sets of clubs. I have JPX 921, MP 32, MP 58, and MP 57, they are all set up for different skill levels and they all feel amazing. You HAVE to get fitted for Mizuno. They haven't lost anything just evolved for different skill levels.
I keep looking around for some 57's. Always loved the look of those. The sole is narrower than my 53's. Tidy club.
I have a set of MP-57s and MP-4s.
I will never sell my 57s. I love them so much. Such a great intro into the MP line.
I've still got my MP57 irons too 😊
@@dhtmo I like the 57 but the 58 are smoother and more consistent. If you can find them, they play top notch.
Best set of clubs that I have ever owned and first set of Mizuno's, JPX 923 tour irons, First time using them shot 1 over 73, not bad for a 7 handicap!!! I think they feel great and they are pretty soft metal for sure. I also have KBS lite tour shafts 95 grams in them helping my ball flight.
I had a set of Mizuno MP-33 irons, 2-PW, with TT DG S300 stiff shafts that I played for about 12 years. Regardless that I am just an average middle handicapper, they made me fall in love with forged blades. But we all get older, and it got to be hard for me to hit a 3 iron more than 165 yards carry, I didn't even carry the 2 iron, and the gaps between my 3, 4 and 5 irons shrank to around 5 yards if that. So a year ago at age 81 I sold them. I sold the 2 and 3 irons to a young guy with a fast swing and low single digit handicap. He was playing his father's MP-5 irons. He hated his utility club, hit too much left, and was in the shop at my range looking for a 2 iron. They had none. I let him hit mine, and it was amazing and sheer pleasure to see the ball rocket off the faces in a gorgeous trajectory, 240 with the 2 ad 220 with the 3. I let him take them to a tournament to play, and afterward he bought them. I was glad to see them find a good home. Then sold the 4-PW to the fiancee of a neighbor whose tall son just got accepted on his high school golf team but who had no decent clubs. I also had a set of MP-67 irons 3-PW with Aldila NV green MLTi Pro stiff graphite shafts. Last year sold those to a tall young staffer at my range who also proceeded to hit them they way they should be hit. Now I play a set of forged blades called Chicago Classics that look and feel almost exactly like the MP-33s. They were produced by Bob Evans, who was director of tour operations and then of production management for MacGregor Golf. He and a partner had their own small company from1987-95 that had forgings done in Taiwan, where MacGregor had its forgings made. My range happened to have bought several dozen sets of heads when the owner wanted to get into club building. The pro I go to, who is also their master club builder, had made up a set for someone else who apparently complained about one thing or another so the pro, annoyed, said the heck with it and just put the set out behind the counter for sale. New, unhit heads, Royal Precision Rifle Lite 120 gram stiff shafts (developed by Kim Braly before Royal Precision was sold to True Temper along with his Rifle line). I just happened to luck into them for about what one would pay for a single iron these days. I really like the feel and sound of these. They have traditional lofts. Played with them for about 3 years but had to admit the shafts were a bit heavy and strong for me now, so I studied and tested shafts (am a techie nerd for things like that) and had the pro build another set of the same heads for me (he has them loose in old boxes stuffed underneath the bench in his workshop!!) with Nippon NS Pro Zelos 8 stiff shafts that weigh only 87.5 grams and were specially developed to feel like graphite. The cost for heads, shafts, Golf Pride MCCC-4 grips and labor was about 40% of the cost of a new set of Mizuno Pro 221 blades. Am keeping my first set of Chicago Classics maybe for one of my sons.
You should be able to hit a 5 iron 195+ lol you should have left blades a LONG LONG time ago you need helping irons not blade that’s literally insane
I love my MP-20's. Truthfully, I don't see the forgiveness drop off so common in the narrative
I wish more companies had this type of historical layout on their website
Great timeline. Moved from MP60s (beautiful feedback and quite pure, but you needed to strike it from the middle) to JPX921 Tour/ Forged combo. Feel is similarly fantastic. The main thing for me about Mizuno irons is the consistency of distance control. Drop offs are small and the ball doesn't jump all over the place. You have confidence in achieving the yardages once you know your numbers. Enjoyed the overview
the 223s are amazing! I had the 919 and 921 forged and tour blended sets...and the 223s are so much easier to hit, more forgiving, longer and look better. Really nice
Agreed, the 223 is amazing and I love the spin. I've been playing 919,921,923 Forged. The lofts and the way low spin is not great. I will never go back.
I'm still gaming the 919 Tours but definitely looking to go for something a bit more forgiving next time, in the longer irons at the very least. Would you say the blade length in the 223s is much shorter than the 919 Tours and how do they perform on toe strikes (my predominant miss)? Certainly considering the 223 or even 243s when they come out next year 🤞
@@iCharlie93 The 223 Pros are very similar in size to the 919s, but are definitely more forgiving! The sole has a different grind that makes it dig in less on mishits, and the grind isnt really noticable when you look at it. Try the shafts too. I was using the Dynamic Gold s300, but the KBS $ taper literally gave me 4 mph extra ball speed during fitting
@@Delburr Interesting, thanks man appreciate it! Looking forward to getting a fitting in the new year 🤞
12 Hcp. I've got brand new JPX 923 Hotmetal Pros and I love them. Much better feel than my Titleist T300s. Couldn't tell a difference between 923 Hotmetal Pros and JPX 923 Forged in my fitting, as far as feel.
Mp 64 are the new goat modern Mizuno irons, fantastic feel, great flight, last of the original fonts, perfect turf interaction
Enjoyed your history of mizuno. I just purchased and waiting to get the new 241’s. I “upgraded” (I hope) from my current irons of my mp14’s from 1994. How are they technically different between the two? Cheers
The 241s will be a touch more helpful from the off centre hits, also maybe want to launch a touch higher initially loft for loft. But they are both blades so really limited in their design. With the fresh grooves you may well see more stable spin numbers especially from the rough 👍🏻
Appreciate the history lesson. Very interesting. I previously played MP69s and then played a few other makers until recently. In my quest to get that same feel, went with the JPX 923 HMP and didn’t care for them…tried the 225s, and 223s, same thing…wound up with the 221s and absolutely love them. They remind me of my MP69s, but much more forgiving….
MP 69 feel so alive !
My favourite Mizuno ever and I've tried emailing all !!!!
Best iron I have used to date and have in my bag as of today are the MP20 HMB’s 3-PW. Great performance, feel and consistency. The balance of performance and forgiveness is unmatched by any other club and I do not even feel the need to try out the Pro 225’s
Have same, love them
Hey Jay, I bought the mp20 hmb because of reviews like yours and man they are still a beauty to look at. Stand through the test of time. Feels so good and probably will keep them until I need to change to senior irons.
Perfect example of if it's not broke don't fix it 👍🏻 play them until you need to change or want to, but they are a great set of clubs 👍🏻
I've tried them all and 33's will forever be my favs
I played the grain flow forged MX-23's that came out in 2004 and as of the end of 2022 the Mizuno Pro 225's. ( I was a brief user of the MP60 but realized I wasn't as good as I thought I was)There is a difference in feel with the 225's but I needed the added distance. Still feel great though. FYI: Here's what a magazine said about the MX 23's in 2004:Highest rated iron in Golf Magazine's 2004 Club Test! Mizuno's most forgiving forged iron. Pocket cavity, milled wider and longer, moving critical weight down and away from the club face for easy launch and improved playability!
I came from Wilson Staff FG Tour V6 irons which I liked and replaced with Mizuno JPX919 Forged, hoping for more forgiveness but still good feel. I didn't get either. I never got on with them - they rarely felt pure nor were they easy to hit. I switched to the TM P770 and the difference is night and day. That iron is forgiving and still feels great and they fly a long way and the lofts are not jacked.
Immensely detailed overview. Interesting point about wearing headphones and not being able to “feel” the clubs lacking sound.
In 2010 I was custom fit for MP-58’s at a local outdoor fitting day. They used their mizuno fitting 6 iron. Kept them for 7 years then was custom for for JPX 900 forged which was my last mizuno irons. The MP-58’s were great feeling irons, not so much with JPX 900 forged.
My Latest and greatest irons are my 2021 Titleist T100s’s. For me best combo of feel and forgiveness I’ve ever played and I’ve been playing about 30 years. Little clunky on severe mishits (thin, toe and heel) shots but they’re like butter on center strikes
They’ll be in my bag until the grooves wear out.
I’m still playing MP-58s today! I did just go through a fitting for PXG 0311Ps as I don’t quite have the game for the MP-58s anymore. They felt pretty incredible. I’ll probably pull the trigger on them here soon.
wrong. Titleist uses the cheapest metals, and has a harsh sound and feel on mishits...I would definitely consider switching to a better iron like srixon or callaway..They have better forgiveness and goes further..Not many people like titlest and if they use it, it's because they make "cool ' designs.
@@giomusah2155 not wrong. Titleist is one of the top three club making companies especially their irons.
@@stephendibari5010 that's called heavy marketing..ALl the titles irons players stink this year...they don't have great forging and their putters are wildly overrated blocks of steel....R and D person told me titleist goes cheap.
Have had several sets. When they went with Boron in the JPX 850 Forged it was a little harsher feel to me. The various HMP versions are also different but I've adjusted to them. They are not bad by any means. Still have the 850 Forged I'll play some when I want a little softer feel vs HMP.
The 223 maintains the cooper underlay and yes chromoly with slots too ...... still an amazing FEELING iron ❤
I still play the MP 60. I've hit all of the new ones and couldn't quite put my finger on why I didn't quite love them. Now I know! I suspected the forging process or materials had changed. I rekindled my love for the aesthetics of Mizuno with the MP 18 MB. Just cant pull the trigger as I still love my MP 60s.
Im still playing my T-Zoid Comp EZ and they feel great, but am I missing out on all the new technology?
Loved those irons!
One of the very best 👍🏻
I played a cut muscle combo set of mp60/mp32. They were incredible feeling and I loved the look with the M branding. I ended up moving into the Bridgestone J15cb. Personally, I think endo feels even more solid and thuddy.
I still like Mizuno but I dislke the branding with the bird, the busyness of the badging, especially the JPX line and the use of the word "pro", feels very contrived as I'm not a pro. I would play the 223 if i were to go back.
I played MP-32 back in the day. Shouldn’t haven’t gotten rid of them. Now I play the 223’s and they are great!
Apart from my long comment about my own experience with Mizuno blades, I want to thank you for your explanation of these changes. No one else in the golf business, and I follow at least 20 different ones on UA-cam, has ever explained this. By the way, I hit a JPX 223 forged 7 iron the other day at the local PGA Superstore I belong to so I can use the indoor practice bays with Foresight GC Hawk launch monitors and screens. Wanted to compare it with my own forged blades. Not bad, but as you say, not buttery. I was intrigued that the loft is just 30 degrees. It's stronger than my 6 iron. And the results shown by the data were almost the same as I get from my 6 iron, but with less peak height. So why should I spend $1,500 for a 3-PW set of new clubs when I can just take my 6 iron instead of a new stronger lofted 7 iron. It boils down to gaps and knowing how far you hit each club. And the old pocketbook. I look forward to your analysis when the new Mizuno's come out. Thanks again.
Thanks John for the comments, always good to have comments like that from an educated golfer 👍
Absolutely completely agree with your comments, couldn't be more right if you tried. Mizuno have been reactive rather than initially proactive in changing their lofts stronger and stronger as other main companies have sort the distance route to sales rather than functional flight. The one saving grace is that at least Mizuno offer different heads at different standard lofts with different tech so they have covered the golfing market.
Only change when there is something better to change to 👍
Thanks for the comment and for watching 👍
Thanks Jay for mentioning my dinasor mp 30 irons! Finally had to take them out of my bag because i couldnt strike them anymore . I have the mp 225s and my game is in ful gear and im happy to play the game of golf again!!! Very interesting content but i think my new irons feel just as good as my old mp30s !!!
As a 921 Forged owner who has also owned the MP59 irons, I can say with confidence the 921 Forged most certainly feel different. The 8-wedge on 921 forged are 1025E, and they feel close to the MP59s. But the Chromoly slotted 7-4 irons have a way different feel and acoustic off the face. Chromoly irons feel faster, springier, almost sounds like tapping a triangle when you square it up, just a shorter ding. It still feels great to hit. Nothing like my old 59s though. Never tried anything aside from these two irons in the Mizuno line, but the 59s feel amazing when you nut a ProV1 with em. My goodness.
I just picked up a great condition 3-PW set of MP-69s from ebay for under $200. Really looking forward to them. I was gaming 221s before my bag got stolen, am excited to see how the 69s compare. My bet is they will feel.....nice.
That's really unfortunate, a really disappointing thing to happen. Glad you are trying to repopulate the golf bag though 👍🏻
Thanks for the thorough assessment. I respectfully disagree with blade range still feeling buttery soft. I played with my MP-33s for 20yrs and dabbled with the MP-5s and 20s and most recently the 221s. They feel progressively off compared to the 33s; like going from soft buttery to freezer hard buttery feel. The sound is unpleasantly different, too. The magic is gone I’m afraid in my opinion. The only iron I found to come close is the Honma 757Vxs forged with softer steel.
Still enjoying my 62s. I've thought about 223s or ZX7s but wonder if I would feel its an upgrade at this point. Need to find somewhere to hit them outdoors I guess.
I was fitted for a new set of irons a few months back and I wanted to go with Mizuno. I tried the hot metal pro, 923 forged and the pro 225. The fitter also threw in the cobra forged tec, Taylormade p770, the p790 and the Srixon zx7 and zx5 MKII. The best feeling club for me was by far the Srixon, I was blown away, and the dispersion was the tightest too, very consistent distance’s. I had the zx7 and zx5 as 1a and 1b so I went with a mixed bag. The second place club for me was the Mizuno 923 forged. Don’t sleep on the Srixon, they’re incredible clubs, and they’re a bit cheaper too!
stuck with my Mp63's for the feel. Great table any chance that is published somewhere we can access?
On the Mizuno website, I've copied the direct link below for you 👍
mizunogolf.com/uk/irons-timeline/
Whats your opinion on the MP-59 set? I'm currently gaming the pro 225 but am hitting them too far, looking for something slightly more traditional. Found a used set of MP-59's for $150.
Very, interesting. Sounds like we feel with our ears! I think this is true for golf balls.
Love my mp20 mmc plenty soft enough sound feel and feedback are great and well fitted by you jay
Couldn't possibly comment......... Yep you are absolutely right 😊👍😊
Still love my MP-64's, probably always will.
They were and still are lovely bats to use 👍🏻
Agreed, will keep them forever or until stolen, best mizuno irons every made IMO
❇️ I put a Mizuno MP Fli Hi 18 degree 2008 2 iron in the bag ✅ replaced the shaft with a Blue Ventus VeloCore ❇️ Iomic rubber grip ❇️
What’s changed for me is they have strengthened lofts and are using harder metals in their alloys so the feel has been lost. Also on a personal level their irons are not the easiest to hit.
I’m fortunate to be about 22 mi from the US Mizuno Assembly operation in Braselton, GA. Have toured 3 times. I’m a small account but their people treat me like I’m big $$$.
From what I know, the JPX unit volume has surged over the past several years, primarily to compete at a higher level vs other cast OEM products. They have worked very hard on acoustics, note the channels under the cavity badge.
Waiting on your Optimizer session !
Holy shit. Just realized the MP 30s are exactly like the Precept Tour Premium CBs. I always heard that club was made by Mizuno. Been playing those Precepts since 2006. The only difference is offset it seems? Maybe there's more but the cavity and the design of the club is the exact same. Let me tell you, when you hit those clubs well, it feels like you hit a waffle ball, it's like you only hit air. It's the coolest and best feeling.
Jay, do you think Mizuno would take heed of what we're saying here? I know you can't stop progress but lots of us will/might be leaving the brand for something else. I scored a great deal on some Nike Pro Combo CB's they other day in spanking condition. They might be the MP53 replacements I was after.
I went from the JPX921 forged to the I230 and h/c dropped 14-11. only difference is slightly louder but games far more consistent with the Ping
First set of Mizuno’s was MP60/32’s, then JPX850 Forged, MP25 , JPX919 Tour and now Pro 223. Loved the 60/32 set, hated the rifle shaft in the 850, loved the 25’s and the 919 Tour, but the feeling in the 223’s are the closest thing to the MP60/32 set in feel.
I used to have the Mp52 then the mp30, stopped buying golf clubs.. 15-20 years later, wife said go get a new set.. bought miz pro 225 .. sold them, pro 223, sold them.. they do not feel at all great!!!! Bought miuras and now back to the feel!!!
What Miuras did you get.Ihave the MP20s and looking at the Miuras but spendy.Did you get them set pured ?
I’m still playing my set of Mp18sc and I have no complaints. I swapped the 4i for a 223 4i which has definitely increased forgiveness but the feel and sound are noticeably different. I’m curious what effect the ball has on acoustic performance? The proV1 definitely got harder over the years , at least it felt that way anyway, which possibly adds to the problem?
The ball definitely, absolutely makes a difference to audible frequency of sound at impact.
Although speaking in general terms, although the balls have changed over the years its been a progressive change rather than a jump off a cliff change so any change in impact sound has been gradual over the years. Most people don't have balls from 20 years ago next to New release balls to notice the difference 👍
@@AskGolfNut yeah that makes sense. I remember hitting the old balatas which felt like a marshmallow compared to today’s ball. Turns out I have the ‘bad’ Mizuno MP18s, but I have to say if these are bad the other ones must be pretty good. These feel better than the Callaway and TM forged blade irons I’ve had in the past. Might have to search for a set of MP5s and see what the all the fuss is about
@@GSHOCKOUTDOORS I believe Paul Casey is still playing MP5's. They are considered one of the best Mizzies of the last few years. Get some!
Your belief is correct. What is also interesting is that I think Paul has just taken thd last full set of MP5s that were on the Tour Van. What will be interesting is what he moves onto and whether it'll be the new 241 when it arrives early next year 🤔🤷
I am still gaming my beloved mp5's. Do you think to 241 will have a similar forgiveness to them? The 241's & Miura mc 502 irons are the only sets to catch my attention since gaming the mp5
Jay,,,Do you think that when Mizuno comes out with these up grades, that they will drop the 225 Pro model??? Need to know if I have to buy them now or can wait a few more months....Thanks....
I don't believe they will change the design too much in the new 245. Most probably a slight internal change to aid miss hits and also a change in shape or size to blend more into the new T series wedges.... That's my guess anyway 😊
Give a set of 221s to a good striker ; they’ll tell you how good is that buttery feel and a sound that almost feels like nothing 😊
Jay, nice reminder for sure! Mizuno 👍MP-20 HMB are wonderful. 100-02 mph club head speed with driver and index of @10 as a 50yo. They aren’t for everyone but great for mid single digit indexers. Better than i210 or P790 or Apex when I tested and purchased them.
if you bear weight at the hip on your top-swing and coil down, I bet you'll hit it 15 yards further..If you are looking for online lessons let me know. I can give you a huge discount
I still have a set of MX23 3-9 (pitching wedge is MP30) they have sat in the closet for a while now. I’m getting the itch to re-shaft them with some Nippon Modus shafts. The old rifle shafts that are in them now are still awesome though.
I still rock my mp37s, love em
Had mp18 SC very soft, now playing 223 soft and amazing,
I played mizunos for years tzoids mp14 mp 30 mp53/68 combo 53s were blah mp20mmc/hmb combo now on Srixon zx7 great feel
Still play mp30 in the winter
Ready for some pings because they do everything
Left Mizuno a few years ago. Nothing feels like a Srixon. Better feeling better price.
Just now doing the Srixon MK2 irons, ZX4 yesterday and, ZX5 being released later today with ZX7 coming tomorrow 👍 👍
My mp20 hub have a Nick in the face and I can see the copper how will that affect the club in time when the copper starts to be exposed.
Only a blade will feel like a blade but I think they win on sound/feel in all categories.
I’ve not hit the 225 but the HMB feels miles better to me than the others players distance irons I’ve hit eg p790, i500, zx5, t200
I’ve heard lots of people say that the 225 feels even better than the HMB.
I’ve not tried the MMC or 223.
I brought this up with you during an old live stream. They are chasing ball speed because that's where the market went. TM and Callaway, all they do is shout ball speed, blah blah blah. They had to follow.
I still love my 53's but they aren't a patch on my old T-Zoid Pro's. My god they feel exceptional in comparison. I've tried 921 Forged and Pro223 but they feel so harsh on the hands. No from me. The 53's will need replacing sometime but after over thirty years with Mizuno i'll have to move to probably srixion to get some feel back.
Tzoid True are exceptional feel too. TP9 are great and TN87 felt almost too soft. Too much offset in short irons in many old Mizunos though, at least for my eyes.
@@golfbulldog T-Zoid True's were amazing. Don't think they got any better after those.
Our old assistant had TP9's, what a thing to behold, amazing.
The JPX923 Tour will offer similar levels of forgiveness nowadays to that of the old MP53 and it comes with the lovely soft feeling that the copper underlay gives 👍
I love mizuno irons and always will but found a nice spot with the zx7. Great feel with good performance.
@@AskGolfNut I'd love those but i'm 54 and the ability is diminishing😆I think i should be going for some foregivness tbh
What about the ball? PRO V1X or Callaway Soft? Huge factor.
Absolutely, change the ball, change the feeling / sound. If you keep the ball the same though you can tell differences through out the range at different times 👍
Thanks for the comment and for watching 👍
To be honest 10 years ago I would have never even considered Mizuno irons, being a 20 handicap that is still working on a repeatable swing I need a very forgiving set of irons. Fast forward to this year and after hitting 12 different irons I have purchased a full set of 923 Hot Metal irons.
just got mizuno 223 irons and i love them
They are a great club, all the feel of an MP although slightly more clippier but with the addes help of a bit of JPX923 Forged.... Definitely my choice for the golfer that wants to play a certain type of sized head, but wants or needs some help from time to time 👍
I was sort of surprised that if the copper underlay tech was soo good for feel, that it wasn't rolled out further. One for the next models?
Still think the MP-32 was the best feel I have EVERY hit. Pure shots almost disappeared. Now hitting 921HMs, and the feel of a pure launch is really special, you can feel the slingshot! It's underrated vs "blade butter".
If someone wanted to give me a set of 223/225 to play with, I'd love to compare..... ;-)
I still own a set of MP33s, a set of MP67s and until this year a set of MP20 MMCs. All of them have great sound and feel. Nothing has happened to Mizunos imo and I have owned 12 sets of Mizuno irons over the years.
I played Mizuno Hot Metal irons for years but made the mistake of comparing them to Ping and PXG irons. Goodbye Mizuno. 😢
Do you know if they will make the next mp in left handed?
I'm not absolutely sure but I think there will be at least one of the Miz Pro in LH option 👍
As a mid handicapper, nothing felt better than the 2016 jpx ez forged irons.
Sorry to say they and the cast versions where the one of very few Mizuno irons I've never really liked. Although likes are subjective, I guess thats why we all have different things we like doing etc. One mans trash is another mans treasure 🙂
@@AskGolfNut I would love to play the jpx tour or 223 mizuno pro if my game allowed me to. But there would be nothing scarier than standing on a tee 175yd par three with tour 6 or 5 iron in my hand.
In the recent past I thought about this and arrived at the same conclusion.
For context I owned TC29, MP29, MP Grad, Tzoid, MX23, MX200, jpx 850, jpx 925, MP 62….then gave up on Mizuno because nothing felt like those MP 29’s.
Just a couple of weeks ago based on your review I went back and got the jpx 9253 forged and the jpx 923 hm pro.
The hm pro feels incredibly nice to my surprise.
The jpx 923 forged feels hard on 4-7 and very good on 8-gap.
I actually prefer the hm pro and I totally fall in the “feel” category preference.
Just goes to show that acoustics plays a huge role contrary to what I thought would be a strictly an engineering process manufacturing thing - Forged vs cast.
If I could have it my way Mizuno would run a production set of the old MP 29’s now matched to modern shafts.
But to stir the pot a little more I’ll add that “nothing feels like a Ping Blueprint”😂😂😂😂
Ah the Ping Blueprint is unicorn in the Range and possibly will never be made again after it's life cycle ends. It's expensive to make, sales are ridiculously low due to what it is and also quite cruel on miss hits. But it does feel absolutely lovely to hit 😊
@@AskGolfNut check out the Robot review Cool clubs had on it. Smallest performance drop on mishits according to their data.
I'll take a look 👍
I watched it but it was just over a minutes worth that really didn't give any detailed insight. Plus it also seems that's strike locations aren't really that far off the geometric middle, where most golfers use somewhat more of the face. Be interesting to see them move those strike locations a bit more to the extremities of the face 👍
I played MP 57and 59…loved them…but I switched to PXG larger face, more room for error.
I played MP57's....... still have them. Wonderful set of irons in their time 👍
Imagine a tournament where the Pros all had to use the same exact golf clubs. Shafts, heads, grips. Oh, the stories they would tell as to why the clubs, the scores, didn't measure up to what they normally used. But, with all playing the same off the rack, unmodified club, we might find who is the better golfer is in managing his total game.
JPX 921s are the best irons i have ever touched. Every shot has Athourity. Comming from Taylormade cavity backs. Great decision
Love Mizuno but why does it still take forever to fulfill orders?? I was fit for a set of 225’s 3 1/2 weeks ago and was told yesterday they aren’t going to be shipped until Aug 4th. 6 1/2 weeks is kind of ridiculous.
That's a very exact date, to my knowledge Mizuno would never commit to a certain date. This is more likely the top end 25 working days of the 20-25 working days they state.
Basically they are busy still due to the success of JPX923. Problem with it doing so well is that it means longer than liked wait times 😕
They’re better than they’ve ever been especially with their new hot metal clubs
Very informative. Thanks!
Glad it was helpful! 👍
Totally agreed
Used every MP blade iron since the TP9 (all within the last 4 years) and the best stopped at the MP4. The MP5 was a joke and the MP18 was a good return to form but for me Mizuno accountants had a word with marketing and in turn had a word down the line. It wasn’t about the golfer anymore, but how many golf clubs they could sell. P7MC feel better than an MP20 for example.
I think it's sad that they changed the forging process.
They just don't feel the same anymore.
@@davidmcnamara3243 people think I’m mad but I can feel minute changes in any iron I’m given.
What we think of as 'taste' is mostly smell, and what we think of as 'feel' is mostly sound.
What about the 923 Tour? It feels pretty buttery when flushed.
The 923 Tours really are the golden Goose of the JPX Range. It's always just been a touch away from the MP.... Now with the copper underlay it's just lovely.....and every bit like the old tiny cavity blades MP30 style 👍
Funny, I was just thinking the same of my Hot Metal JPX 919s.👍🇨🇦👨🦳
@@AskGolfNut It was your review of the 923 Tours that solidified my confidence after ordering those clubs. I'm one of those guys that is a 15 handicap that happens to be a good iron striker.
Now the buttery smooth iron title goes to PXG!
I use the MP66. A bit hard to hit but buttery. Only available in japan
Now they were a nice looking iron... So would like a brand new set of those 👍
I love Mizuno but there are too many options. When combined with all the shaft options it’s so hard to decide what the best option should be. Have 3- game improvement, players distance and players.
Mizuno gang.!!!! 💪💪💪💪💪
I just wish they would show more love to the lefty’s. i have the sel 921.
I'm sure that if more lefties started to buy Mizuno they would absolutely react and start extending the range. Unfortunately I believe it's a chicken and the egg issue 😕
Currently playing mp-18mmc’s with t-24 wedges and honestly have zero desire to change(though newer models do look pretty slick) and thats coming from callaway and TM irons prior to mizuno. They turned me into a fanboy, and im ok with that lol
Same here
Nothing wrong with enjoying a brands products 😊.... Everyone has preferences with cars they drive and clothes they where etc so as long as the golfer is happy then all is good 👍🏻 👍🏻
What happened is they outsourced a lot of their club lines to China… The very best Mizino irons are still forged in Japan though.
Enzo stopped forging them.
His son does them now. If you want Endo forged irons you need to get Epons now
products forged by endo and miura are more appealing to me than mizuno bc they have a heavier head.
Heavier swingweight as standard too? 👍
Unfortunately I used to love Mizunos, but no more :(
Ok fine I’ll buy those mp20s I’ve been staring at
They are lovely and you'll enjoy cleaning them after every round 😊👍
Well, feeling is a very subjective thing.... I for myself nevermore owned a Mizuno bladed iron set for a simple reason, they always were shorter (0.25) in the shaft length than standard Titleist irons for example. The reason is simple, people in Asia are not ad high grown as people in the modern western world. Now mizuno realized this fact andato since the Mp20 series they took the international standard, for example 37 inch length with a 7 iron. Ar this day i decided to test Mizuno blades and i compared them with others made by Titleist or taylormade. And they felt way better! The taylormade p7 mb are awful, they feel like a thick rocket. Tge Titleist clubs feel okay but the mizunos feel really powerful and elegant hitting them in the sweet spot. But if i compare the mizunos with my honma blades which i got from a club maker 25 years ago (anders still using!), i feel a difference between this japanese blades. The honma blade is still much more powerful and sounds "deeper" than the Mizuno blade which maybe is a touch more "elegant". If I now take a Miura blade then it's more like the honma then the Mizuno. But all these blade's from Japan are in a own league compares with the popular brands! My actual set is very very old and if i find a set of mizunos in my size, maybe i take them... Or better a set of Miura? Hmmmm.... We will see
There is still no standard for length! Add to that that different companies measure clubs length differently …some measure with grip off, others measure to the heel/some interface vs middle of club/sole point of contact. Well beyond “people in Asia being short”.
@@mariofonseca9267 I never wrote that there is a absolute "Standard length" for Clubs. But I wrote that till the mp 18 clubs Mizunos length for irons always was 0.25 shorter than the length for irons Titleist, taylormade or other brands for consumers in Europe or USA offered. But with the Mp20 series Mizuno changed this and they are also offering the same standard length like the most others do.... I know they can build different lengths with lighter or heavier heads, but most people take the standard set in the store.... By the way, wilson staff model blades are +0.25 in standard to Titleist....
@@michaelscore6763 my point was that for you not to go with with Mizuno because they were shorter than whatever other brands was…. Silly. ☺️
You could just order them longer.
But you got that.
Ok here’s what they need to do in order to get their shot together. Follow PXG’s lead. Don’t come out w new products every two years unless it’s significantly better than the old. Period
I thought Mizuno came out and said no new MPs until 2024?
Yes the 24 series is what he mentioned! 241, 243, and 245 will be the new Mizuno Pro’s and the “24” comes from 2024. They might drop them at the end of 2023 though…
@@Smiththebat no I got what he was saying about the name for the new range but I thought I heard just a couple days ago that mizuno put out a statement saying the new MP line is going to be delayed until next year. I’m not exactly sure why but I think they’re having a tough time improving on the current MP line.
@@TRIKushbeachside oh! Interesting!
Why do so many male and female ture players play Shixon instead of Mizuno irons?
I’ve played most of all the Mizuno irons starting with the MP 33. I still have a set of 69’s I will never sell as well as a few sets of JPX irons.
So, thinking I would try the new 923 Tour irons, I thought I had better start with a 8 and 6 iron with different shafts.
To my disappointment, I certainly did not like either of those two irons. Lacking something… I get the JPX line is a bit harsher.
Well, I looked at the Miura TC 201 line and bought them after a brief demo!
Mizuno has what?? 7 or 8 different irons and I don’t like any of them. Just sayin….
I hope the Mizuno Marketing team looks a a standard blade with a competitive CB offering.
Right now, I’m considering a set of Miura MB 101’s.
Too much confusion and duplication in the Mizuno line and trying to cater to ALL.
Good analysis though!
Feel? You only feel and hear it after the ball leaves the face.
I wonder about the hype of Mizuno irons. Why don't any good players use them?
Mizuno won't spend the money that the guys on the main tour want. There are a few players out of contract that I believe play Mizuno irons through choice rather than monetarily persuaded which I guess is a better objectification of the brand than, just paying someone... Paul Casey is one 👍
Good Good stopped using them. RIP, Mizuno.
Good Good moved to where the money was waved in front of them.... One could argue that the fact that Mizuno won't do that is a bad marketing plan, but then spending millions on things like that would only cause retail prices to increase further. Personally I'd prefer the lowest possible price to the golfer than wasting countless sums on chasing an audience. They also may be absolutely wrong but only time will tell I guess 🤷
Thanks for the comment and for watching 👍
@@AskGolfNut I'd like to try some MP irons, but I can't justify spending that kind of money on clubs. My old DCIs will have to do.
👍✅😜✅👍
I'll stick to my MX-20's thanks.
Decent club those were. Although one day you'll have to think about changing 😊
Do you still drive your 80’s Ford Taurus too? 😂
So the blades feel like blades and the other clubs don't. Got it.
Mizuno are so overrated.
All brands marketing is over rated, I guess that's the point though of marketing, to draw attention and hype. 👍
@@AskGolfNut it's not really brand marketing mate, everyone online seems to think Mizuno is so good when it's a decent brand but not THAT good. All the scratch handicappers at my club play Titleist/Ping/Taylormade.
@method341 every company has a certain following, if you look at the sales figures the Mizuno are well up there overall across world sales so on average they are just as and even more popular than the brands above... Where they really need to work on though is their wood marketing as their woods are everybit as good as the brands above but fall way short in sales. Also when it comes to clubs there is always a bias between a certain block of the memberships normally to have concentrated brand sales of which the Pro stocks at their pro shop. I've seen it all over the UK at least. Although it is, always good to try and support the local pro 👍
@@AskGolfNut fair enough. I have yet to try the woods but I have gamed the mp18 in the past it was ok in feel but nothing special
@method341 the MP18 out of every iron in Mizunos timeline was possibly the worst feeling one of all of them. This was due to a change to a more High Density Forging. This gained consistency from the forging but lost valuable "feel". They quickly remedied thus with MP20 that included the copper underlay to bring back the sound and feel that Mizuno have been known for. If the MP18s are the only Mizuno irons you've played then you were just very unfortunate to get the worst feeling ones in the history of the brand 😊
You know what feels good? Winning money. When I thin my p790 a bit it makes the green. That feels nice
Just got a set of MP4's... I think I'm done looking into any other irons after this set 🧈💯
Bet search the Internet now for a spare set as they'll be very hard to find once this set wears out.
Shame Mizuno don't do limited runs of old lines..... They were possibly the nicest looking irons ever 👍
