Hi Rich and Sandi, Thank you for this enlightening program into the lives of real trappers. It gives me hope that when I retire I can have fun trapping and even make a little back. Take care my Canadian Brothers and Sisters.-Paul
I just bought a nice fur hat from furs caught by trappers down here in the US. It's absolutely beautiful it's beaver/otter. I don't have time to trap at the moment, but I sure do try to support it!
Sure enjoyed watching you guys n gal in your videos nice to see how you north lander's do it you guys fill the fur shed well done I'm jealous of you catching wolf's wish I could but I'm glad there not in southern utah . Thanks for the great videos
Robert is an awesome guy, I just met him recently corresponding. I have a question on this live red fox catch: I am new to trapping, my second year -making progress. (Learned a ton here on Trapping Inc...thanks Rich and Sandy). So in my first year (last year) I caught a beautiful red fox, similar, and used a .22 magnum, shot it in the head. It didn’t die right away of course, even though it was decent shot, and significant blood, and a bit messy. I noticed here that in the live fox catch in the foothold; it appeared (I am assuming) you choked it out with that stick with a rope twisted on it? That seems like a better way to do it. Maybe just use a catch pole, although one would have to really pull hard....Is that the way to go? Muskrat 411 guy told me does that with the lynx and, although it’s not pretty, it is very clean and effective. GREAT EPISODES, I have been subscribed for over a year and never miss a video or podcast!! You all are livin the life many people dream of. Good for you, enjoy.
Some folks use a 220 body grip trap over the head, some use a snare and others crush the hyoid bone in the larynx. All kill as fast as a bullet when done by an experienced person. Some shoot a fox in the lungs with a 22 short and there is no blood as well.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but it didnt look like that trap was baseplated. I watch all ur vids, but this one I think was my favorite. I noticed in the vid that those loops for the wolves were really huge and he had to caveman them loops to hold them open. Thats just what it looked like in the vid. I liked ur statement you made, your not in Kansas anymore.lol Super show Rich;) Richard from Kansas
No, the trap was straight from the store the way Bridger sells them. Big loops are very common up here. The whole idea is the bottom of the loop hits the wolf in the chest knocking the loop loose and the loop falls on the wolf. While it seems sloppy it works slick.
I can see where it would benefit to baseplate them bridgers with them big wolves. All my bridgers are baseplated, because they are 4 coiled, if not they would bend also just like his did. Seems if we use big loops on yotes and our bobs we end up with a front foot in the snare or even hip snared. My yote loops are 10" max and cat loops are usually about 7 and never over 8 for me. Here is something wierd, and Im not the only one that has this happen once in a while, I would like for a yote tell me how he gets his head through a 7" loop.lol Im talkin a full grown Kansas yote. The only thing I can figure they must be movin at a purty good pace.lol Richard from Kansas
A 4 coil 3# doesn't have much hope of holding a wolf - base plated or not. It would be extraordinarily lucky to get a full foot catch with such a small trap. Most wolfers like soft cable for snares so 1/8" or 3/32" 7x7 falls easy and snugs up quick and tight. Like I say you would think that those big loops would result in a step through or hip catches but it doesn't. I think the big part is the wolf only sees the bottom of the loop and thinks nothing of pushing it out of the way with its chest.
Makes sense to me about the big loops. I know in the northern states they have been holding wolves in mb 550, but they are built like a tank. A guy even held a black bear in one. They are smaller than a 3 size trap. I do know that yalls regs are much tighter up there than here. Yalls useing #5 size footholds for wolves? Just picking ur brains on how yall trap up there. Thanks much for the replies Rich! Ur a champ;)
9" traps like the Brawn, Alaska #9, Bob biers wolf trap, Koro and the king of them all the Lay 26. All our traps have to be offset and laminated or soft catch. Soft catch doesn't work in the cold and after the first time a wolf ate his way out you get a different trap. LOL
Then Walt Disney, ruined it all with his talking animal figure s and city people threaten people to outlaw trapping , these dogooders , would rather see animals run over on highway then used as garments
Jesus is coming sooner then we think by looking at world events. here is the salvation prayer for those who are not saved .pray this with your kids so u know that they are saved and everyone you know. Jesus is coming quickly Dear Jesus Come into my heart, forgive me of my sins, wash me, cleanse me, set me free Jesus, right now I receive you as my lord and savior. I believe you are the son of God and you were raised from the dead, thank for saving me and forgiving me, I am born again. I am forgiven and I am on my way to heaven because I have Jesus in my heart. Amen
Nice video! I'm starting to do trapping videos with a comedy twist on it. Maybe you could check out a video and pass along some positive feedback? Thanks!

Giant, right?
Thanks for the video.

Greats video it helps me big time thanks for sharing and be safe on the line
Nice! I can't believe he popped 4 lynx like that! Cool episode!
I am fascinated by your trapping techniques. Also would like to know your recommendations for extreme cold weather gear.
Robert wears what any of us in the north do, lots of layers and wool, polypro and Gortex top layer.
@@TrappingIncTV Thank you.
Awesome trappin video reminds me of home this trapper knows his links A real deal trapper!
I started trapping at 7 years old catching muskrats and coon ,at 75 just had to give it up
Its a tough life!
That was awesome!!!
It was cool.
Robert is my uncle 🎉
Excellent!
That's crazy how the wolf's bent that trap
Goes to show why a trap rated for wolf can be used on coyotes but one rated for coyotes doesn't work on wolf, even if you get them to step into it.
awesome show.
Great video. It would be great to see you do a video on Andrew Stanley from The Wild North channel here on UA-cam. Keep up the great work!
AWESOME VIDEO.
I was wondering what cam-locks you use. If you don't mind telling me. I greatly appreciate it. Thanks
Any camlock works for lynx they are easy. Wolves I use a good modified (toothed) and hardened cam lock.
Thank you.
What a great show. Watched this episode on tv. Any episodes where a wolf is actually caught?
Episode 11 in Season 2 and Episode 1 in Season 5

Trapping Inc TV Series ~ the 220 body grip seems like a great idea! Ty.
Awesome episode, sadly the last for a while... what brand was the trap that bent?
That is a #3 Bridger Canadian Offset.
It's too bad you couldn't get those shots on the lynx on camera. I know how difficult that might've been, though.
Robert didn't care about the camera
Do you know what fur the gloves on his back were ?
Beaver
How did he dispatch that animal with a rope? Makes sense no hide damage
Made a noose like a snare
I probably won’t keep that toilet paper inside my jacket with my sent on it
Lynx and wolverine are not scent shy

I don't know that he traps anymore

that is the truth!
Whats the brand of the trap?
That the Wolves destroyed? Bridger
Is that the same trapper that you had on a couple episodes back trapping marten
Yes it is.

Contact a furrier I guess. I can't sell raw hides
