    Comrades! This video represents the first attempt at an "enhanced" type of lore video with added UI elements and other features. It's a completely new way of making videos for us, so if you notice any errors or have suggestions, let me know! We're already working on some more improvements, but I'd love to hear your thoughts!

      The map showcases of the system and graphics were greatly immersive - I almost felt like an admiral onboard one of those ships, or General Carter in his war room!
      The recording of the match at the start was impresive as well.
      But the text, both at the side and bottom of the screen was a little too small, compared to the avalilable space. I would recomend making it a little bigger.

      Yeah, this is my one gripe with the setting. Things are a little TOO copy paste from our world. Yes, I know Mark talked about the benefits of familiarity but it's to the point that it ends up feeling like there's been little to development in that regard. Having different names for Space Forces rather than just direct transplanting the air force/navy into space would work better IMO.

    An impressive lore video. I in particular enjoyed the art VFXs and the labeled maps to further detail the events. Some of it does have some similarities to the Stellaris Invicta lore videos, but with a more advance and mobile UI.
    It seems that the Vega incident had quite the contrasting reports. Which combination holds the most truth I wonder.

    About the firecracker rods, explained at 21:21 Uranium is not magnetic by itself, so it would not be possible to "fire" it from a railgun. Also, a lighter material would be better as it would reach higher speeds and thus be easier to hit at longer distances. Something like an aluminum or iron alloy with a proportion of depleted uranium or tungsten could work. I would also question the effect of the thermobaric filler material surrounding the penetrator. It most likely would not have much effect and would simply burn on the armor rather than penetrating it. A more reasonable firecracker or Minengeschoss would be of an iron alloy with a moderate amount of depleted uranium or tungsten, giving it a good mix of magnetic and armor-piercing properties. The penetrator would also be hollow to protect the thermobaric filler material during "firing" and penetration, thus ensuring the best possible performance on target. But that's just my interpretation, feel free to argue over it.

    This makes me curious as to how sports work in Dawn of Victory,
    since it can take weeks to get from point A to B would it be like the teams in a given system would playoff and then clusters and then the finals or what else?

      Well the General in command of OTO was going for briefing in virtually "Real time" if the timeframe is to be believed.
      Hence there definitely is an instant communication over most of Orion arm avaiable to Government.
      Marc will hate it as he does everything possible to never acknowledge Battletech
      consider different tiers of FTL comlink:
      HPG network - expensive, maybe not even possible on but largest of warships, requiring massive investment per unit of information per time.
      Only viable to governments and large corporations in any meaningful large scale use. perhaps "receiving" can be easier to have propaganda broadcasts possible with no need of massive hardware.
      Evey government would see value in that.
      (its essentialy jumpdrive sending massless information so it doesnt need "jumppoint")
      K series Transmitter (originaly SLDF only) low amount of information sendable only in limited distance - you either need to link them and it isnt completely "instant" but can only send lets say a page of text in a 10 minute pulse on given bandwith).
      (that would also significantly limit combat use and it would be interceptable.)
      lets say it reaches 10 ly and then has to have another receiver and it takes 1 Ly per minute.
      its use could be VERY detectable so military force might not be that interested in using it unless very "safe".
      They could simply be jammed by broadcasting static.

  • @rodneykelly8768

    I have had an idea for quite some time. It is a given that the warships would be emitting photons by the truck load as they maneuvered and discharged weapons. Not to mention the electronic warfare would be very noticeable.
    Now within a year of the battle, you get a ship with good sensers and optics with good resolution and place it several light months to the system’s north above the battle area. From this point, the vessel could record all the photons radiating from the battle. The battel could be recorded almost as it was happening.

    For the fleet action off Vega, I'm curious as to how there would be such little evidence out in the open. Any sufficiently high-powered telescope or observatory should theoretically be able to see a medium or high-intensity battle, as long as they happen to be looking at the Vega system. And since light travels slower than actual info on this universe (sinec there's FTL), you could have people intentionally going to far-away systems and just waiting until they can see the battle. It seems rather hard to cover up any sort of battle in space.

      That would have to be a super-duper-hyper-ultra-high-resolution telescope. Our most sophisticated telescopes today still struggle to detect Jupiter-sized planets. And given the regional astrography, any telescope that _was_ powerful enough to witness those events would likely be controlled by their respective states.

    I lile the idea of sci fi geopolitical war across the galaxy, but the thing that tyrn me off, is the use of previous real empires or states like the USSR, it could be more intersting if you could differents form of goverments that have its own form of political organization or they are part of a group of states with its own rules.
    PD: English is not my mother language, i hope to the one who is reading this, get the idea.

    I loved this video, improves upon the first lore vid, and I liked the 'enhanced' type video with the UI elements and the different graphics as the vid advanced. The artwork for it is amazing, and the audio bit for the hockey match was quite good at the beginning. My one bit of constructive feedback would be, if you're going to do text bits of information, then they need to be readable. You flashed them for not too long so I think you could display them to be more visible/readable, and just have it drop off the screen. I'd be interested in reading those pop ups with a quick pause but couldn't do sadly. So maybe in a future vid, the text information could be more clearly displayed.
    Other than that, loved this lore vid, with the details on the battle and the different strategies of the Soviet and German fleets. Along with the different interpterion's of what happened. A really get lore vid and loved the visuals.

    i noticed on one of your earlier map building or world building videos someone had asked about communication across the stars and how ther would be lag. well i would suggest quantum communication. i worked with a couple people on their capstone paper in college over the technology and it is totally possible even now with quantum processors and servers. it would allow instantaneous communication across the arm or technically...anywhere in the universe because of how quantum particles work. you can also tie anything that doesnt have mass to a quantum particle interaction. ie anything that we already see now on computers. the simple connection or disconection between sister particles is your 1 and 0 for the basis of your computing. its crazy simple and crazy scary because it breaks all known laws of time and space but...having worked and seen the research...it works haha.

    Honestly preferred the first lore video, the emotional aspect of a siege, the combined arms, the echo of failed peacemaking missions. But this is still cool! You're doing great work. I'm just worried you're biting off more than you can chew with so much detail on an event that takes place long before there's an actual war.

    My grain of salt:
    I think soviets have planned actual ambush of a german transport force. However to prevent further escalation a more "modest" operation was communicated via the back channels.
    As such higher eschelons of german power would give orders not to engage any action outside of area of operations. However an escort of the withdrawing elements was somewhat beefed up to provide them security.
    The Republican convoy with which soviet fleet was to ressuply was likely present in the area just to provide a convenient excuse of soviet presence.
    It was likely this convoy which got enaged by Axis freikorps and pleeded for help outside of main group.
    soviet forces most likely attempted to jump in believing this is their main prey as the engagement was sizable force they were to be ambushing, and while that was happening the main Axis transport group with appropriate escorts have entered area of egagement and situation was likely too hot for them to ignore the egagement. Possibly they have also come to a long range fire from soviets already.
    With soviets likely when egaging the paramilitaries from relatively safe range - their ships hit some minefields. Alternatively - its unlikely the soviets would engage in massive maneuvers especially if concentrating on long range saturation barage.
    which could have allowed main axis fleet shoot their railguns well outside of range that could be considered effective in straight engagements. Soviets simply didnt know german main force was there. and with massive redeployment required soviet forces would likely be abhorent. especially with likely ECM chaos.
    Such situation - while having few flaws of its own - would effectively account for both naratives.

    The account addressing advanced and unidentified assailants seems to line up with the comprehensive review of warship design by all major powers following the incident. It might have been coincidental, maybe even sparked by that Soviet-German exchange, but it still kinda looks like it lines up with the angle of the unidentified belligerents.

      I didn’t even think of that, I was leaning toward the first story being true since it felt at bit more plausible but your right. It makes me suspect that a rogue actor decided to test out their brand shiney new fleet of experimental warships and I didn’t go well for their fascists or the communists. Of course now I sound like conspiracy theorists.

    This was quite an affecting video...the music choice was very haunting and appropriate. I'd say I was more invested in this video than I was with Firebase Hector, which I only moderately engaged with.
    I'd say I found the first story more plausible than the second, given the understandable errors made on both sides (a compassionate diversion from a tightly orchestrated plan to aid a friendly ship in distress, and a loosely governed paramilitary group likely trying to take down wounded prey laid low by a mine). The second story, while hinging on a substantial blunder, seems too well orchestrated for a mission gone wrong. Though the second story seems somewhat plausible (and possibly believable on its own), the first story seems more plausible by comparison.
    There's also a couple typos such as "viel" in the body text descriptions...bit late to change those, but something to watch out for in the future. Though given your production problems (my sympathies, by the way) they might've slipped through in the disruption.

      @Bluehairedgirl89 11 днів тому

      I’ve gotta agree with you on which story feels more plausible, either or could obviously could be true given the murky waters we are stepping into. But for me the first one feels a lot more plausible, the deciding factor is that I don’t care how big your fleet is if you lose 200+ ships in a battle you arnt going to be able to keep that under wraps. But I could very well be wrong.

    • @zhop951
      @zhop951 10 днів тому +1

      Agreed, but that account does paint the Soviets in a better light, not only did they try to avoid conflict to begin with, but they won the battle as a result of their doctrine. I wouldn't be surprised if certain details were changed and spread as rumors by the USSR, and the second story pedaled more by the Germans.
      Either way it's cool we're even asking these questions, it speaks to the depth of the worldbuilding going on here.

    • @ChuJungyin
      @ChuJungyin 3 дні тому

      Even if still using the Gregorian calendar, seasons are dependent on which hemisphere you are living in. Given that the Soviets and Axis powers were all based in Earth's northern hemisphere, I would assume that references to "summer" would be June to September.

    Really cool story! I love the artwork, grafics and extra info! I would love to find out about the real story behind it. Do you have the "real" story planned out or is this all you know too? Further I am a little bit confused by the usage of "Luftwaffe" and "Kriegsmarine", both meaning Spaceships or not? Maybe I just misunderstood though. Maybe switching "Luft" (Air) with "Raum" (Space) would be a nice addition or change. I would love detailed infos about the different spaceships too, like in these starwars inside books. Wonderful project! Greetings from germany.

      the implication I think is that both services originated on earth in their traditional domains, but now have their own spaceship forces. a bit like Imperial Japan's army and navy having separate air forces
