- #aboutworld the mod: Fake Factory Remaster is a custom modification that changes the game's artstyle, making it look as close as possible to vannila version.
#Project Goal: Remove unnecessary props, entitys, brushes, decals that makes the game look terrible and unplayable.
#New Features: Added new structures that makes more sense to City 17, Ravenholm, Highway 17 and Nova Prospekt enviorments. Lost Coast is now playable and the soundtrack is back on track.
#Optimization: Removed a bunch of unnecessary files from the game's directory. Removed some FF skins, textures, props and weapons, now we can add our own.
#About the Gameplay: The current gameplay seen in the trailer is using the Standard Assets from OG Half-Life 2.

This looks promising already, adding density where it was needed without sacrificing what made Half Life 2 Charming. You're certified chef.
Fitting well within what City 17 looked in Source 2. More metropolitan, foggy air, all kind of construction or modification of buildings ongoing.

This is what Half Life 2 looks like in my memories.
Something I noticed on the map change is that the everything moved and did things a little slower... Cinematic mod IIRC made the whole game (or at least parts of it) with a host_timescale of 0.8 or something, very slightly slower, but I noticed it's still here. It's a strange decision in the first place, I would suggest removing it if possible (removing whatever is making the game at a slower host_timescale).
Is most likely an autorun setting in the cfg folder
i actually always liked that feature, i like it so much that i even use it in half life 1. idk... it just makes the game feel "smoother"

Gotta say, this is looking rather fantastic.
When I heard mod's description I was expecting the Old FF with assets removed, not total revamp of most locations with better visuals and sensible clutter/layout mix.
The fact one can play with base models or alyx ones is great too.
Can only wonder if running MMMOD would be viable with this. Could look like a remaster proper, with gunplay and effects so updated.
The mod actually reccomends using MMod

Its actually a good thing in my opinion, now that you can add custom mods inside this mod.
I hope this works with MMod cause this might be the ideal way to play Half-Life 2 if you want a Remaster

This looks amazing! I wonder, will this mod have remade sounds? One of the things I loved about cinematic mod was the remade sound effects to a more HD sound (apart from the guns..)
Will there be particles in the air at all levels? Or not? as well as on ravenholm from HL2U, my fps drops with an integrated Intel HD 2500 :/

make it where the strider is walking have an actual gate that can fit or seem like the combine vehicles can go through cuz those 2 apcs are just stuck in that area and doesn't make sense
I just imagine the gates can also be pulled up for the apcs to move around, cause remember in regular half life 2 the one apc is stuck as well, I thought the same so I just go with the combine gates move up for the apex when need or the combine drop ships come for them to keep watch on the population remind them who is in charge and has the fire power to beat them into submission.

I still prefer the original Cinematic Mod. I will revisit when more work is done on this though, as it is a good idea for an alternative.

When we leave the station, after the steps there is a lawn. Looks out of place. When we enter the building with apartments from the courtyard, after loading, posters appear on the wall and boxes appear in the back that were not there before loading. Without civilians in the square, the atmosphere breaks down, and the GG looks too suspicious, moving alone. Bring back the grass from CM, without it, these poor ground textures look archaic.

Can you make combine soldiers work like half life alyx game? You know, some of the soldiers have oxygen canisters on their backs that if you shoot them, they will catch fire and explode after a few seconds.... I really liked this mechanism.
I haven't played HL2 in a while but I honestly can't tell the difference between vanilla and this besides some texture changes.

Mod idea: You have to go through Half-Life 2, but its Half-Life 2: Episode 1, Having to escape City 17 before The Citadel explodes. The mod ends when you reach Black Mesa East, You would see the explosion of the Citadel at the horizon.

Looks good. I have long thought that it would look more organic this way. But, in my opinion, it’s better not to leave the original models. The same broken truck looks too blurry against the background of the rest of the beauty. It would be nice to tighten up his textures and slightly modify the model where necessary (that is, not replace it with cars from STALKER as the original author did)

I mean interesting choice with brightening some rooms with fresh and lighter looking textures, but why did you replaced the bright window in the "pick up that can"? It was giving a lot of stunning effect in the original game. Also noticed in last video you used some skybox buildings in the plaza scene from half life alyx, while there they are a retail Half-Life 2 models, did you changed your mind or you play early interaction of the mod?
In the trailer, he was using a bunch of extra mods off Gamebanana. Here, it's just purely Fake Factory Remastered with nothing ontop.
It's to show that Fake Factory Remastered is compatible with asset replacements.
Well technically the author of this mod is planning on releasing two versions of the mod, one with normal Half Life 2 assets and the other with Half Life Alyx assets. I appreciate him going out of the way to give players the choice to choose which design they prefer.

He replaced the window in the can scene because if you actually look in the map, the bright window is far in front of the windows on the outside and they dont line up so I guess for accuracy he replaced it

He showing the gameplay with first in vanilla mod. I have talked with him we can add mods that use half life alyx models from game banana mod site.

The point of this project is THE MAP EDITING, not the assets.

Personal opinion, but I don't see what the purpose was of removing the train station being a place to get rations from the ticket booths. (might just be because it's unfinished, but that's just me)
