Letterman - Chris Elliot as Marv Albert #2

- Around 1986. This were the days when Dave was having Marv Albert on a fair bit, and Chris did a parody of Marv. I have uploaded another segment from a few months earlier/later of the same schtick.
I never, repeat never, get tired of this skit!🤣
Chris Elliott is nuts. I always loved his skits.
Yes! Chris perfected this watching Marv in the hall before his appearances on the show, down to the cup
I always laugh when Elliot drops the Marv Albert bit for a moment to tell Dave, 'Like I said, there's a lull in the action,' then, at 0:38, goes right back into it, with a great expression.
Martin Zimmerman Dude that was classic.
That was probably the funniest of all Chris' Marv's. Chris said the impression was more an inside joke on how acted Marv off-stage, like in the green room, hence the coffee cup and always brushing lint off his pants. He said Dave would laugh hardest at this impression.
The whole family have the same hair,(except the rebellious little guy), suits and coffee cups! A lovely family!
this dude was who the word Genius was created for.
I've never understood why Chris stopped doing the show. I realized that he left briefly with the ill-fated sitcom, but why on Earth Dave didn't work with Chris for the full 30 year run is beyond me. They were brilliant and utterly hilarious together. Maybe Chris had other projects that I don't know about. What a bummer.
He popped on occasionally as a guest and later with Gerry but, yeah. Chris did other things and Dave did a different reality at CBS.
@@NoellaScott "Get A Life" of course was the catalyst to the end. Chris was only 30. When that failed I thought he'd come back to Dave regularly. I think he could have contributed his zany spots for Dave as long as Chris wanted to.
@@johnpelletier7641 Totally agreed. I feel like he could have done what Andy did with Conan.
@@NoellaScott I completely agree with that too. Paul was the best sidekick for Dave, just as brilliant, but as the bandleader slightly removed from the couch and the comedy, though Paul did plenty of great comedy. Yes, imagine if Chris had been Dave's sidekick for the duration. Memorable.
Ill fated sitcom? It’s a LEGEND
That is soooo funny.
YES!!
I didn't know that Marv and his ilk came out of pods - being so similar about the hair and otherwise science fiction-worthy and such. I'm impressed that Chris was able to keep his mouth from sliding off of his face whilst in character as that legendary sportscaster/toupée enthusiast.
LMFAO!!!!!!
What the hell is Elliot doing at 0:38, I about soiled myself. Funny shit.
Eric Day he went back into his Albert impression
I absolutely love these clips and am a huge fan of 80's Letterman, but I wonder if younger people, who did not grow up in this era, enjoy these as well. Or is it a "you had to be there" kind of thing.
Good question , but I think only those who grew up this era can still laugh at it.
I didn’t watch it at the time, I’m old, I don’t know Marv Albert, but I think this is the funniest performance I’ve seen while bingeing Chris Elliot on Dave Letterman’s show. I didn’t watch tv in the 80’s or 90’s and Chris is new to me right now. He is very funny. I wonder if young people can appreciate it.
@@pattysherwood7091 Are u a Schitt's Creek fan by any chance? I have a friend who discovered Chris Elliot on that show and is now a big fan.
@@milart12 I haven’t seen any of that show. I will try to find it on UA-cam
@@pattysherwood7091 I was just curious as to how you stumbled upon this. His Schitt's Creek character is different from this. If you want to see the unadulterated Chris Elliot, watch his sitcom "Get a Life"
Isn't Mrs. Marv here also the wife in Chris's "Action Family" cable TV special?
Bill Slocum
No, this is the real Mrs Marv
OOOOH!
Wow, bizarre....but funny
marvelous Marv seems to have genetically eliminated the Asian genes from his progeny....YES!
Thank you for everything! Here’s a little something for fun: ua-cam.com/video/4MspluzIpjU/v-deo.html
