I am so blessed to still have a full set of grandparents and recently I was able to enjoy a full week of quality time with them. For those of you that don't know, my grandmother and mother are my cooking instructors so everything I know, I learned from one of them. Today my grandmother shares an old fashioned recipe that has been passed down for generations. It's just a few simple ingredients, but it is so tasty. Most of all, it brings back so many wonderful memories of my both my living grandmother and deceased paternal grandmother. Let me know down below one of your fondest memories of you cooking with your grandmother.

A true old school cook. Not a measuring cup in sight lol. Blessing to her and I hope she’s able to keep cooking and passing down recipes to you for years to come.
even this video was released 3 years ago this looks so good and yummy I haven't tried it before but it looks so good and amazing!
My mom made these all of the time. She can't anymore. She has dementia. I have tears in my eyes. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for this recipe. I'm going to make this for moma
You are so welcome!
@ Michelle Smith, hello I just came across this channel, and I agree with you, it brought so many tears to my eyes. My mother also had Alzheimer. We cared for her 7 years. during those 7 years is when I fully learned how to make homemade biscuits, that was one thing she wanted me to learn but I didnt take the time. So, when I would make some and feed her, she would be smiling and i would hold back my tears. God called her home June 2020. I do see that your post is 2years ago, but I pray you are still caring and loving on your mother. Much love to you and thank you for reading my post to you. 😇💟
This just brought back soooooo many memories for me. Man I miss my grandparents❤. Boy do I love this! Keep these recipes going.
These look delicious 🤤 I’m trying it
How blessed your family are, to have your granny! Memories from my childhood. May the lord forever bless chef granny and heaven smiles upon her! I am addictive to granny channel. Thank you 😊 💓
What a great thing the two of you are doing together! Your Grandmother is a sweetheart! Thank you for sharing with us. 💕
lol 0:39 and you are already behind, so cute! Granny says "here we go...Ok I'm Done"
My grandmother is from Mississippi and she used to make these all the time. For some reason, she never did the jelly roll method; she would cut the dough into individual squares and then spread the butter and spices on top, then make them into a pocket. But the jelly roll method is so much quicker & it’s gon’ taste the same either way. Thanks for sharing!
My confused , did you guys purposely not show how to make the sugar mixture? , how can we try it ourselves , if we you don’t show all the steps?
Let Granny Talk. She don't need a Narrator.❤️❤️❤️
My grandmother taught me how to make these about 15+ years ago and I still make them for our whole family today especially for holidays and cookouts. I’m the only one in the family that make them the way my grandma made them (all from scratch) they are delicious!!!
Yummy, my daddy use to make this just a little differntly. I am gonna have to try it this way! Oh and we are from Georgia

Welcome!
My dad's family there were 17 children the girls would all cook and do the laundry while the men did all the working on cars or as they called it men chores. Men ate first an women ate last.
LOOKS Amazing 😍
Thank you!
In Alabama they called it butter crust rolls. And they are absolutely delicious
Aren't they. Amazing what some bread, sugar, nutmeg, and milk will do. Have you almost ready to slap yo momma. (ALMOST) I ain't crazy.
What happened to the ending of the potato pie recipe?☹
Love you both. I want to make but not sure if ingredients, measurements, or if not knowing the ‘secrets’ will take away from my dish.
Don't ever be afraid to try new things, especially cooking cause that's how we all learn. Trial and error. Believe me, I have made some nasty stuff but I always try again.
My mom makes butter rolls too she is from Mississippi.but she doesn’t roll out the dough but instead pinches off dough and adds filling
Yes. I've seen them done in that manner.
Thank you for sharing. Can you write down the recipe for the custard?
Brandon there is no recipe. She just eyeballs it. The next time I make one, I will try to get measurements and update this post. Granny does not know what it means to measure.
I understand. The filling sugar unsalted butter nutmeg and cinnamon ?
Thank you for responding to my comment. Thank you for sharing your family traditions.
She only uses sugar, salted butter (always), nutmeg, vanilla, and just about an ounce of milk (whole or evaporated)
Hey girlfriend! New subscriber from Jia's Channel.
Thank you for subscribing!
You sound like my mom I asked her how her mother in law made her biscuits and she was like I honestly don’t know she did it so fast.
Yes! I even asked my granny not to go so fast before we started. I turned my back for a sec and she had already did 2 steps and all she could say was, I'm sorry....I forgot 🤦🏾♀️. Love her to pieces though ❤.
That looks so good 😉
Hey came over from Jia's channel!

I came from Jia's channel !
Welcome!
My grandmother used to make butter roll, she made hers in a different way though. And she was from OK!
I never heard of butter rolls but it looks good
hi how are you doing do yall live in new Orleans
No. Georgia
Its a southern thing not Memphis or Mississippi
I live in Ga now and no one knows what a butter roll is here. Maybe I'm just not south enough in the state.
What is that she is putting on the dough it's not butter is it
😴😴😴😴😴😴🙄😏✌
Grandma be cooking. Her desserts look like they came from a store.
She was the master baker in a large grocery store back in the day when things were from scratch, so in a way, you can say they came from the store.
I can tell. She's got it going on!
it's confusing when you're talking and she's explaining. Don't think there is a need for you to repeat what she's saying. IJS
