- Justin Hayward's first solo gig to promote his "The View From The Hill" album. Filmed at Tower Records in Las Vegas. I'm no pro videographer by any means, but this is still a pretty fun watch.
JUSTIN HAYWARD , BEST SINGER , SONGWRITER EVER, SO GORGEOUS , HUMBLE, GENIAL, A TRUE GENTLEMAM. MY FOREVER HERO, LOVE , LOVE , LOVE FRON IRELAND XXXXXXX
I love the Tower Record recordings. They are so raw with Justin and his guitar!
The soundtrack to my life. I saw him at Sam Goody’s at the Mall of America, Bloomington MN right before this on his promo tour for his new cd The View From The Hill. Bought the cd and got a wonderful photo with him with my hand on the same buttery leather jacket. I was sitting on the the floor and didn’t know there were people around me who would become friends over the ensuing years. Betcha didn’t know this black Guild guitar had a crack in it but he still played it. Big Red ES335 must’ve stayed home. I adore this man! RIP Ray Thomas and Graeme Edge. 🎸🥰❤️🇬🇧🇺🇸 Will be on his cruise 1/28/23.
I was THERE! What a privilege...
I was there in the audience. And fortunately, after his performance… I was able to talk with Marie until Justin was done signing autographs.. and according to her.. he had a radio interview to go to next. And he wouldn’t leave until he signed everybody’s items which made him late for his next appearance and I remember the look on his face when he looked at her as he was walking towards her and I was still next to her that moment it was like shrugged his shoulders and a smile on his face at her and she’s like oh my dear he is late for his next appointment and then they went off but you could tell he just didn’t want to disappoint his fans that’s a lovely memory
HE WAS GRACIOUS. I WAITED IN THAT LINE NEAR THE DOOR WHEN DENNIS COLE CAME IN
Justin wrote some of the best song lyrics I ever heard especially from 68 to 71, especially tracks Question and "The Story In Your Eyes"
Lodge and Pinder also wrote some seriously deep stuff too mind you.
The Moodies musicianship wise a level above the Beatles, Stones and many others at that time, and as their tunes actually meant something.
That is one of my favorite Justin Hayward songs. I have all the m b music and a couple of there concerts. I love them I seen them in America in person. God bless them. 🙏🌹♥️
Justin Hayward is a gifted songwriter and singer.
All these videos of Justin from every person who uploads them, many thanks. Moody fans never tire of seeing the best band ever and the best singer and songwriter, Justin Hayward. He is so sweet. So thank you very much for this. I try to watch anything to do with the Moodies/Justin....as Justin is the Moodies.
That was very nice. Thank you for sharing. Justin Hayward brings in a big crowd I see. I've seen The Moody Blues in concert three times. Been listening since 1970.
My favorite singer, Justin is truly blessed.... He bring's you so close to him, you understand everything he is writing, a true 🎨🎨🎨🎨 artist!!! Thank You, Justin, for blessing us with your beauty!!!! 🥀🥀🥀🥀.. 2022...
I'm so glad that Justin decided to do this song, thanks for posting!
So near and so far away..in America here with this outstanding perfomance at Tower Records in 1996 and so near with his recent uk tour in a front theatre seat, Sept 2022..he is mesmerizing, Your Wildest Dreams is with him singing to me and it came true...I had to pinch myself to see if it was real...a night to remember and never to forget, Justin Hayward, What can I say but that he’s the best. 💕🎶🎵🎶🎸
Sweet Sunday sounds Justin makes joyful music 🎶
Wondering how I missed this gem video?!? Brilliant and Justin is definitely having a good time..... The audio is excellent too!!!!! Thank You for sharing!!!!! 🥰
Glad you enjoyed it in spite of all of the shakiness, focus issues etc.. :D It was one of the early small digital video camcorders that I bought specifically for this show just before we flew out to Vegas, so that's probably what made the sound so good (certainly nothing that I was responsible for, that was strictly Justin!).
A genuine artist, what a gem to have seen him with nothing more than his acoustic guitar , Thank You for sharing !!
I wasn't aware that Justin was @ Tower Records, in 1996!
I live here. I was a live-in caregiver for my now late Mother, and now late stepfather, in 1996.
I would have liked to be there, if I had known..
Wow! So happy to see this! My sister and I were there. What a great memory. Thank you, John Boy!
ME TOO
When I am listening to Justin, it is intensely without interruption. Thank you for posting this
Oh my goodness! Thank you for posting this! My husband & I were there and have a few photos but no video. Such wonderful memories.
An old favorite.
You're welcome! Glad you found this piece of history.
DITTO
Thanks for posting! Justin was really on top of his game.
So wonderful. Thank you for sharing.
Glad you enjoyed it! I cringe whenever I watch it because of the unprofessional quality of it, but this was the first camcorder I ever owned, and bought it specifically for this event. I was doing my best to shoot a good video while still enjoying the performance. As stealthy as I thought I was, we ran into Justin's wife, Marie, after getting our poster signed and she wondered if we got a good video! Turns out she's an excellent photographer and always carries a camera. She took OUR picture and then sent a copy of it to us along with a nice note!! I sent a copy of the performance to Ivy at the fan club and she said that Justin really enjoyed watching it as this was his first public performance of songs from The View From the Hill and he was nervous about how those songs were going to be received.
Very nice to see your recordings put together as one continuous video!
Moody Jill I have much enjoyed your beautifully picturesque videos of the Moody blues songs.
GENIUS
Omg! ❤
Sounds great especially for being in a record store
Thank you for sharing your video. Very cool
Ya just come out and killed it.
A very nice guy.
While listening to this recording at the end of 'The Way of the World' and just before Justin began singing 'Children of Paradise', our favorite Hen, Petunia who was in hospice in our kitchen passed away. She flapped her wings and she was gone. Then he sang, 'Autumn Leaves' such a perfect tribute for her leave taking. So thank you, John Boy. This listening was very special for me and an especially precocious, much loved chicken to hear. We will miss her.
Thank You, from Brasil.
❤
... hey, John, I'm Dave, your 30th subscriber. Post what you enjoy and I'll check it out. Cheers from way down under in Australia...
Wow, just found this. What fun, thanks!
Thanks! Not happy with all of the video streaks that UA-cam added. Also, this was the first time I used a video camera bought specifically for this performance, & it obviously shows. Justin didn't allow recording of his performances back then, hence my attempt at "stealthiness". Turns out that his wife, Marie, was there and saw everything! We chatted with her for quite a while, and she even took our picture & sent us a copy of it! She's quite the photobug!
Going to see Justin in War of the worlds
I attended the Tower Records mini-concert in NYC. So nice!
Do you know if anyone shot a video of that show? I know that pictures are out there, but I can't find a video. I guess I can ask on Lost Chords as well.
I WAS THE ONE IN LA ON SUNSET BLVD. MAY PANG & TONY VISCONTI FLEW IN FROM NYC & CUT IN LINE IN FRONT OF ME TO SURPRISE JUSTIN 😂
I saw this performance in Chicago
Justin Hayward is a gifted songwriter and singer yes he is.
I've been a Moody's fan since 1968 I I'm from Las Vegas in Lovelock now My 1st tape was days of future past played on a 4 track If anybody remembers those just before the 8 track with the battery in my battery in my bedroom
I WAS THERE. WAITED IN A LONG LINE & DENNIS COLE WALKED IN
Was this @ the Tower Records on The Strip, or on West Sahara?
So few people from a band that started in the sixties is doing this sort of show to promote anything. let alone a new album.
