Nice reaction! Maurice died in January 2003 from cardiac arrest due to delayed treatment on a twisted intestine and Robin died in May 2012 of liver and kidney failure after a battle with colorectal cancer. His cancer had gone into remission but his body was severely weakened from his illness and treatment. He contracted pneumonia and spent several days in a coma, came out of his coma, and died of kidney failure a few days later. Maurice had gone to the hospital with extreme abdominal pain but they did not order any scans that would show what the problem was until a day or two later. He should have had emergency surgery that day they only took him into surgery after developing Sepsis which caused the cardiac arrest.
You don't get this unique beautiful singing anymore. Lyrics are beautiful, clean cut music. Love seeing younger adults enjoying classic music from back in the day
Yeah. Barry reeled her in there. Sooo sweet. We're all Bee Gee lovers, just like tasters/non-tasters, tongue curlers/non tongue curlers, Bee Gee lovers or not. Its in the DNA
"Falsetto" is Italian for "false voice" (if I remember correctly). Much of the Bee Gee's later music was all falsetto but personally, I like their early songs like, "Words", "I Started A Joke", "Massachusetts", "How Can You Mend A Broken Heart" and "Lonely Days, Lonely Nights".
I love what you told your girlfriend about being alone. Just beautiful. Bee Gees music is definitely about love and say so many things we are unable to say. Great reaction from you both. ❤
This was more in the early 70s. And yes, music videos weren't a thing back then until MTV was introduced as a 24 hour music video cable channel in 1980 or 1981 which opened up a whole new world! I was 15 years old and remember watching MTV for the first time!! It was magical!! Lol VH-1 cable channel soon followed MTV, so we could watch videos on 2 stations. And all it contained was music videos and news related to the music industry and news about the artists. And then they introduced VJs, who became popular, too. (Similar to DJs). Also, the Bee Gees ypungest brother, Andy, had a very successful solo career but passed away prior to his older brothers. It was so sad. Thank you for your reaction and being such a kind and loving boyfriend 💕
Maurice died January 12, 2003 (which happens to be his sister's birthday) from complications of a twisted intestine. Robin died May 20, 2012 of cancer. Fabulous song, one of my very favorites!! Glad you both love it!! Nice to meet your girlfriend 🙂 How about listening together to Happy Ever After and My Eternal Love ❤❤❤
Ironically, Maurice's death from the twisted intestines turned out to be a congenital abnormality. Robin, being a twin, also had the genetic predisposition and when he developed complications, they knew what to do immediately and were able to surgically correct it. This saved several years before Robin died from cancer.
So nice that you cared enough to share this with your girlfriend. You make a beautiful couple. So nice that the lyrics are saying words that you want to share with her. Love the Bee Gees!! This was awesome Eddy!
These were filmed for future audiences. We didn't have Video tv back then or big budget videos like we do now. This was 1978. The middle of the disco period.
Robin and Maurice are the twins. Andy was their younger brother who was a solo act. These brothers used to sing in their bedroom as children and their mother thought they were listening to the radio!! They started performing as children. This song is 1970s. Their last album was in 2001 and Maurice then passed away in 2003. The Bee Gees performed for more than 50 years before Maurice died.
Leslie, the oldest of the 5 Gibb siblings is still alive ...she was part of the group 4 a short while. She currently lives in Australia..... Leslie, Barry, Maurice, Robin and Andy.....(Robin & Maurice - aka Mo, were twins). They have passed away, so far, from youngest up...
I'm so happy you introduced your girlfriend to the beegees.........maybe another track that would be appropriate is Sweetheart....it's a beautiful romantic track and one of my very favorites of their's......
First time viewer. Love y'all's attitude. Laid back and respectful. And your personal relationship is sweet. Someone is madly in love with his girlfriend. For good reason. And I am sure the feelings are reciprocated. Enjoyed the reaction to The Bee Gees. They have tons of great songs. New subscriber .
Andy Gibb was the youngest brother who was not in the group. He had a pretty decent solo career but passed away too soon before any of his older brothers. I would definitely check out Andy's music if you like the Bee Gees. My favorite from him is "I Just Want To Be Your Everything "
So nice, Eddy! So ifya wanna get her more into the rabbit hole of Bee Gees, go to songs beside the mainstream of them. Start with 'Be Who You Are' (Barry on lead), continue with 'I Cant See Nobody' (Robin) and then go to 'Walking On Air' (Maurice). Good for yourself, so you haven't heard these phantastic songs before.
@Eddy Cheese You know what though, sadly Barry Gibb the lead singer of the Bee Gees is the only brother still alive. The youngest brother Andy Gibb not in the group, but a great solo artist in his own right passed away first in 1988. Maurice Gibb passed away in 2003 then his fraternal twin brother Robin Gibb passed away in 2012 leaving only Barry and his older sister Lesley Gibb. Check out younger brother Andy Gibb and a great song called (Don't Throw It All Away), released in 1978 for his Shadow Dancing Album. This song was co-written by his brother Barry Gibb & Blue Weaver and recorded by the Bee Gess in 1977. The brothers actually gave Andy the song for his 1978 album and later released their similar version of the song in 1979 for their greatest hits album.
I was married one year (1977) before this was released in 1978. This would have been in my wedding too, but with them singing, at the reception. Love, love, love the Bee Gees. I am a black female, 68 yrs old, grew up with them. (A bit lengthy, but a must read.) The Bees Gees: (from left to right) Robin, Barry and Maurice (pronounced Morris) Robin (Dec 22, 1949 - May 20, 2012) passed away as a result of cancer. Barry said, "Cancer is cancer." He didn't mention what type of cancer. Maurice (Dec 22, 1949 - Jan. 12, 2003.) Passed as a result of a twisted intestine. He was in the hospital for 2 days. Barry said he had a heart attack, but the doctors still operated. Maurice and Robin were fraternal twins. Andy Gibb, the youngest brother, had his own successful career. He was 12 yrs. younger than Barry. He and Barry looked so much alike, that they could had been twins. Andy passed away in 1988, at the age of 30. He lived the LA (California) lifestyle involving drugs, and he had heart problems. (Barry said this in a few videos. The brothers wrote all of his songs. Barry (middle) stated, "I am the last man standing." He was born September 1, 1946. He has 5 adult children and 7 grandkids. On September 1, 2022, he and his wife Linda celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary. (They were married on his 24th birthday.) On a side note, the first born is their sister, Lesley, who was 78, January 12, 2023. Maurice passed away on his sister's 58th birthday. Lesley didn't have an interest to be in the limelight, but she can sing. They wrote all of their songs, and songs for other singers, which they sang after the songs were released for the other singers. The brothers have a VERY IMPRESSIVE catalogue of songs! I recommend the following songs: (Theses are just a few of my favorites.) How Deep is Your Love ua-cam.com/video/XpqqjU7u5Yc/v-deo.html Spirits (Having Flown) ua-cam.com/video/ONmVEJnxysc/v-deo.html Staying Alive ua-cam.com/video/fNFzfwLM72c/v-deo.html Closer Than Close ua-cam.com/video/m6XIdjEHLRs/v-deo.html Bodyguard ua-cam.com/video/Fx5XwIKCs3o/v-deo.html One ua-cam.com/video/KRUeMgzOCCo/v-deo.html You Win Again ua-cam.com/video/KZY9oYSSjFI/v-deo.html Emotion (written for Samantha Sang) ua-cam.com/video/b_wTZjo9azk/v-deo.html (Destiny Child's cover has too much drama. But Barry liked it.) Our Love (Don't Throw It All Away) Andy Gibb ua-cam.com/video/eH686Dyy16w/v-deo.html At one time 5 of their songs were in the top 10. Another time, four of the songs that were written by them for others were in the top 5. A song that Barry wrote for Andy was #2, but then it went to #1, and the Bee Gees song became #2!
Good choice, I love the Bee Gees or Brother's Gibb... they have some of the greatest songs ever IMHO. They also wrote a lot of hit songs for other artists. Thanks for sharing
The Bee Gees also wrote many famous songs for many famous artists, like Dion Warwick, Diana Ross, Kenny Rogers, Celine Dion, Barbara Streisand & many more....Barry wrote younger brother, Andy's songs....hits!! Barry also did a duet with Michael Jackson, they were good friends.
Mo died in 2003 of complications of a surgery for a twisted bowel and Robin died in 2012 of cancer, little brother Andy died just after his 30th birthday just before he was supposed to join the Bee Gees as part of the group of a heart condition (he had not told his family he had the condition, it was rumored he'd died of a drug overdose because he was a recovering addict and the drug use in his earlier years was what probably damaged his heart, but he was clean when he died) The Gibb brothers are truly some of the most talented in music. The Bee Gees are in the songwriters hall of fame and the rock and roll hall of fame. We are lucky to still have Barry who is still making music, his last album Greenfields was #1 in the US and England.
Your girlfriend from the UK ? she sounds like it. Bee Gees are Brits. Although moved to Australia when they were young they still have a Mancunian accent.
in 1979 it was declared international year of the child and bee gees along with other artists donated all royalties for imperpetuity to the unicef save the children fund and this song was bee gees contribution and reported to have raised 11 million dollars to date
Sweet reaction - these songs were responsible for us baby boomers in the 60's and 70's pure love songs made you feel good enough to go home and make babies hence the name boomer generation
Love your reaction! Along with the BeeGees you should check out their baby brother Andy Gibb. He died many years ago but has angelic voice similar to Barry's.
Great video, Nice to see different generation enjoying good music. But the falsetto also were the Stylistic I think were first. And Yes Maurice passed in 2002 Robin of cancer in 2013. Love ya all

She has to like them Eddy Cheese it's Jesus aka Barry and his two Disciples...
Meaning what?? All 3 brothers were equally important to writing and performing their music. That's disrespectful to the twins.
