For huge avocado trees in a container: Mix your soil with mycorrhizae (from Jake Mace) or locally we use mushroom compost. A small mushroom covers my containers a couple times a year and don't know which one it is but they have a symbiotic relationship with the tree roots. I have a 12' tree growing in 18" dia, 12" deep wicking bucket. Still growing up after 4 years.

Since I live in Temecula Wine Country, (it is on the fringe of the desert, Aguanga, Anza etc). The weather here is 20 degrees hotter than the West Hills. SO, ALL MY AVOCADO TREES that I bought in the pots, and tried to grow DIED on me. It was too HOT in the summer and too COLD in the winter. I grow avocados using the toothpick method. One thing that i have problems is that the one that i have planted isn't fruiting. It's been 6 years or so but no fruit yet. and also it has been planted with just few centimeteres away from mango and kasmir fruit tree. The avocado hasn't been grafted.

Desiree. Yes, in Florida we grow "green or "florida" avocados. They are 4x-5x larger than what you're used to which i'm almost certain would be a Haas variety....Has represents 90% of the market. When mine ripen this year i'll make a comparison video for you.

@@SleepyLizard Hi. I'm also in Europe, have a pretty nice size tree indoors. Have been trying to germinate more seeds but so far no luck. I'm still content with the one I have already. Will replant it into a bigger pot though. Does it need direct sunlight and humidity? I was wondering, what would happen if I placed the seed for germination into a dark glass instead of a clear one? Does the seed need sunligh to start rooting? Thank you, greetings from Hungary. Very informative video btw, so far the best out here about germinating avocado seeds.

He's not wrong. There were a few animals believed to eat the avocado whole, all are now extinct. I think a lot of plants including fruit trees expect their seeds to be spread when animals eat them and poop them out in another location.
