Umm if you are smart you probably think it through anyways so it doesn't matter much if they see this... but it helps if you prepare for these kinds of things so if it happens you won't just freeze. I think the most important thing is to get away from the situation as soon as possible, but in case you cannot run also attacking the shooter from a hiding place with a heavy object can save your life. I think most shooters wouldn't expect the victims to attack so do what you need to do to take them off guard. At least it is better to try than to just stand there and wait to die.

Playing dead is one of the most risky options during an attack. Many shooters know this tatic already, so they shoot the dead bodies twice. Even if you put blood on yourself, you'll be quite suspicious if they notice that it doesn't seem natural (odd amount of blood, no holes in clothing etc.). Also assuming that they have already done shootings in the past, they'd easily notice that you are playing dead.
