In the end we shall make thought-crime literally impossible, because there will be no words in which to express it. Every concept that can ever be needed will be expressed by eactly one word, with its meaning rigidly defined and all its subsidiary meanings rubbed out and forgotten. . . . The process will still be continuing long after you and I are dead. Every year fewer and fewer words, and the range of consciousness always a little smaller. Even now, of course, there's no reason or excuse for commiting thought-crime. It's merely a question of self-discipline, reality-control. But in the end there won't be any need even for that. . . . Has it ever occcured to you, Winston, that by the year 2050, at the very latest, not a single human being will be alive who could understand such a conversation as we are having now?.....The Revolution will be complete when the language is perfect.” ― George Orwell, 1984 So fuck you and your selfcensoring.

Damn these words carry meaning today! Only thing missing is telling us to work together and kick off these party affiliations!
Peter Finch's words have never been as true as they are today.
If you arent as mad as hell, you havent been paying attention.
"I'M AS MAD AS HELL, AND I'M NOT GOING TO TAKE THIS ANYMORE!"
It's March 25th, 2020. We are plagued by a virus, crumbling economy, corrupt politicians, global crisis, & the rich elite builds walls up from the wood they save on our mass graves.
"I'M AS MAD AS HELL, AND I'M NOT GOING TO TAKE THIS ANYMORE!"
DJ Alpha Omega IM MADE AS HELL AND IM NOT GOING TO TAKE THIS ANYMORE!
IM MAD AS HELL AND I WILL NOT FUCKING TAKE THIS ANYMORE
I'm mad as heck and I'll only take this for a few more years!
It is June 1st 2020, people have been protesting in the streets of almost every city and state in America for days. Other countries are having solidarity protests. Police are being called out for murder, but unfortunately many innocent people standing up for basic human rights are being injured and arrested. The president is preparing martial law. While the pandemic is still running it's course.
I'M MAD AS HELL, AND I'M NOT GOING TO TAKE THIS ANYMORE!
"I'm a human being, god damn it! My life has value" Makes one think current protesters slogans, doesn't it..?
Had a fraternity brother in late seventies who could do this entire scene from memory, with all the histrionics, and did during one of our Sunday evening chapter meetings. The entire fraternity (80+ members) was chanting "I'm as mad as hell, and I'm not gonna take this anymore." One of the best moments of my college career...
BUT FIRST, you've GOT to GET MAD!!! You've got to say, "I'm a HUMAN BEING, GOD-DAMN IT!! MY LIFE HAS VALUE!!!"
Id not heard of this film until sometime in the 1990s when I stumbled across it on TV one night, this scene always stuck in my mind. Years later I watched it and realised the significance of the film as a classic
After the response to the fires on Maui - everyone needs to see this and do this. We cannot accept the government treating our fellow Americans like this.
76 had its problems, but it was paradise compared to 2024.
For who? Tell that to the black people and lgbt minorities…
Maybe for you.
@@QueenoftheStarrySky-tf7ro I am mixed race. And I said it wasn't perfect, but I'll take it over today anytime.
Nostalgia bias… everything seems better than it truly is when we are young
@QueenoftheStarrySky-tf7ro Yes, I understand that we look back with rose tinted glasses. But I truly believe we are living in the darkest times since WW11.
After watching this back in 1976, I finally understood the purpose of media, and immediately discovered the country and world that we actually live in. My life plan was then based upon the discovery of finding passion and truth in Nature, and no longer in humanity. I also learned my favorite humans shared that same resonance with me.
Goosebumps every time! This continues to age well
We need to hear this more now than ever
This message is needed more then ever now.

it's been needed since it came out, the problem was never solved
YOU start the message commander
Brandon and the demons have ruined the country
Brings me to tears... Still true today. Gotta watch that film again.

I've never seen the film, but man!! Now I NEED TO!! Tonight!
Get mad as hell then watch "Network".

What great acting. 1976, he died of a heart attack January 1977, aged just 60. He doesn't look that overweight, he actually looks quite fit.
Always quite worrying.
The most searing few minutes in American movie history. Way ahead of its time in its observation that TV is the primary instrument of mind control.
I just shouted this out my window and I'm getting very strange looks from my neighbours.
lmao
Me too 😂😂😂🙈🙈🙈
It maybe that NO ONE HAS HEARD ENGLISH SPOKEN LATELY IN YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD AND DIDN'T UNDERSTAND WHAT YOU WERE SAYING.
No, that's not it.
+Gregg Heilman Speaking of proper English, your usage of "maybe" is incorrect; it should read "may be", as in *You may be just a total fucking moron*.
Same as it ever was. One of the greatest commentaries on American life ever.
I’M MAD AS HELL AND I’M NOT GOING TO TAKE IT ANYMORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I followed his advice and I'm not taking it anymore! I've been free from the rotten, broken system for more than seven years now and I'm never going back!
My life has value!!
How have you become free from the system?
Me too my friend. Not matrix anymore.
This monologue is so true today as it was when this movie was made!
This is all we need to do. I've been saying this for years. Wake up everyone.
This is more true now than ever before.
I love when everyone starts yelling. Beautiful.
I'm mad as hell and I'm not gonna take it anymore agreed 💯👍 TRUEST WORDS EVER
I would love if a hacker could make it so this is played over every tv and radio station at the same time. We need it about now.
That would be amazing and hilarious!
I was thinking the same or a journalist, sadly some people are stupid and don't understand the media is lying to them. This hacker will become our hero for sure
Glad to see this idea sparked in another head. You know that means it's sparked in more heads than ours.
BRILLIANT 👏 👏!
Wow!!!! I'm mad as hell right now!!! And i'm not gonna take it anymore!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Fits our present time exactly! My life absolutely has value! Amen Amen
Classic and legendary lines.
Damn fine acting and a heck of a speech.
Anyone else feel like this a perfect motivational video for 2020?
Network came out in 1975. And it is sad the realize that the same things Howard Beale was talking about then are the same things that need addressing now. Sad to realize that we haven't made any progress in 40 years.
+jrc156street Murder rate in the US has halved over the last 40 years...
+Sean Wordingham .. That's only because democrats took over all the major cities and ran them all into the ground in the 1960s and 1970s. The murder rates in the 1950s were lower than today.
+Ana Castellano there are plenty of cities run by Democrats for years, such as in Oregon and Washington and west Virginia where the violent crime is very low. You can't just blame democrats.
LOLL As if Conservatives or Republicans had better success making the world better..
Haha we haven't made progress looooong before that
I'm a human being God d*** it! My life has value!
Todd Bettenhausen You can swear on the internet we wont tell on you.
Infu-p We do not take the Lord's name in vain, I will say FUCK THESE MOTHERFUCKERS ALL DAY!! But that is one thing I will not do!
Stewie Griffin Shut up, Meg.
+Stewie Griffin its not takng the lords name in vain. its speaking it into existence. the power of your words. its a prayer of righteous anger. a call unto the lord. seeking the righteous hand of vengeance onto the wickedness in the world.
+Todd Bettenhausen you censoring yourself makes me think about this;
“Don't you see that the whole aim of Newspeak is to narrow the range of thought? In the end we shall make thought-crime literally impossible, because there will be no words in which to express it. Every concept that can ever be needed will be expressed by eactly one word, with its meaning rigidly defined and all its subsidiary meanings rubbed out and forgotten. . . . The process will still be continuing long after you and I are dead. Every year fewer and fewer words, and the range of consciousness always a little smaller. Even now, of course, there's no reason or excuse for commiting thought-crime. It's merely a question of self-discipline, reality-control. But in the end there won't be any need even for that. . . . Has it ever occcured to you, Winston, that by the year 2050, at the very latest, not a single human being will be alive who could understand such a conversation as we are having now?.....The Revolution will be complete when the language is perfect.” ― George Orwell, 1984
So fuck you and your selfcensoring.
When they say movies have power movies and art is truly alive this makes so much sense in 2023 !!!!
I have to come back and listen to this when I need courage to do something with my life. This desk jobs are killing me.
This brings tears of joy to my eyes every time. I can sympathize with this so very much!
For over 44 years, every god damned month, this film becomes more and more relevant. Just once, just fucking once, I wish this message didn't matter quite so much. Nothing ever changes, and I hate that.

This pumps me up it’s from a movie almost 5 decades old and yet it is still completely relevant to how things are today.
We need this world wide

The problem if someone attempted to do this today is that it would quickly become a trend and would lose its meaning very quickly.
For some reason that makes sense

Fantastic actor and such a shame he died before picking up a well deserved award for this film.
finally, this is 100% relevant
One of the great scenes , from one of the great films , from a great actor, Peter Finch , playing one his finest roles ( and there were many ) and a great director , Sidney Lumet, with even a great supporting cast ! No wonder it is still remembered , and more importantly , its message is even more relevent today .
This scene has aged well. Still apropo after nearly 50 years.
Scary how prophetic this movie, you would think he was talking mordern day today. Inflation, labor shortage, supply issues, process food killing people, I think he naild it all.

Hello friend
The dude explicitly doesn’t call for rioting what lol?
@@billyshears2032 I was referring to the protest, not the riots
The problem is, I am as mad as hell AT the riots, the looting, the destruction of statues, the desecration of churches. The problem is, we are as mad as hell AT EACH OTHER. And just being angry won't solve that - not without a terrible cost in blood.
@@mnorth1351 i agree, im also mad at the looting, riots and destruction. We need to redirect our anger
This is more valid today than ever. 4/15/2020 It's almost prophetic.
Not really. It's actually just very generic
It fits just about every time I think. Four years ago it would perfectly have fit to the election of donald trump, it would fit to BLM protests. Hell it would even fit into the mindset of coronacritics, gendercritics and, to sum it up it would generally fit anyone who has a strong sense against anything happening because over all it is just agitation.
Though specifically you could frame it around anticapitalism concerning industry (air unfit to breath) and (fast) food industry (food unfit to eat) as well as of course economic crisis and the precarity it means for lower classes.
I do not know the context of the film, but Id like me a rather marxist reading of this.
