- In one minute, I compare four Casio watches, the spiritual successors to the classic F-91W.

Now this is a useful video. I have the W-217 and am considering a W-218. I see that Casio have decided to give a larger date and slightly smaller time display. to the W-218. I'll buy one, although I think that they're a little overpriced.
I'd like to see the next module have an even larger display. Also, if they are going to add wider surround bezels, the screen needs to be recessed, even if only 1 or 2mm.
Maybe the next Casio beater will be perfect :)
Of these models I've really enjoyed the W218. It's a bit more rugged than the W217. I've also got my eye on the F105 but that's still in the cart at the moment. Nice comparison.
Thanks, glad you liked it! I was wearing the 218 every day, until I got the 217! I like the size, but not the G-Shock style ripples in the strap! The 217 is my favourite now, bigger numbers, more readable too 😀

imo The unshown W-800H is the winner. It has every useful feature of the others shown but elctroluminesense, a better bar rating, battery life and display, and it costs less.
It's a great watch, but the screen is just a bit busy for me!

None of them can be considered a real successor either in the A700 and A1000 series.
F91 Like its chrome twin, the A158 is an outdated model that is procrastinated.
Infinitely better at a very similar price the W-202 in direct competition to the F91 and even better the minimalist all-black LW-204 which in my opinion represents the culmination of cost benefits in the Casio digital watch genre, and in fact exceeds in sense and "elegance" also the ultra-thin A700 series and the A1000 series with steel case which improve only some style and backlight. but mount old F91 module functions under the hood.
the W-202-1AVEF or even better the LW-204-1BEF is very similar in price to F-91W-1YEG but they are better from all substantial points of view in this kind of product:
1 resistance to immersion in water 50 meters 5 bar
2 effective backlight in the dark or dim, the display reads really well
3 countdown function (which the other does not have)
4 improved alarm set function and flashing
5 slightly larger display characters
6 recessed adjust button, it is impossible to lose the setting accidentally
7 larger and more accessible buttons oriented at different angles easy to press.
8 case without sharp edges lozenges and frames = less collection of dirt = less friction and entanglement with hair and clothing sleeves = more comfort in prolonged use.
9 slightly longer strap if needed at large wrists
the W-202-1AVEF is the direct and updated "competitor" of the F91W if you roughly like that style with the writing and blue border ... it takes it up a lot, it is similarly more of a everyday work watch.
The LW-204-1BEF is better and particular than the W-202 from which derives for an advanced and clean minimalism of the display (the display is also inverted) and the totally smooth strap. It is a watch that could easily be used with discretion even on more elegant and formal occasions without jarring.
Considerations:
These CASIO collection product lines, are all made in China, the F91W and its more elegant wearable "steel" twin A158 is an old but extremely effective watch with minor flaws of youth such as poor backlighting, lack of account backwards, the excessive ease of activation adjust the tearing of the hairs and the scratching of objects and the pulling of threads (metal bracelet) etc.
From new originals spending less it is difficult to find better, but often F91 and A158 given the numbers are also very counterfeit and it is easy to find yourself with a clone in hand.
In my opinion, in this genre the best cost / benefit alternative since today even microwaves have the clock is the LW-204-1BEF because chromed (A158) or black (F91) we always talk about a digital watch with a resin case that it must have functions and be comfortable: 24grams and without thoughts of water etc., the discreet minimalist elegance is there and remains, but the functionality and practicality that analog watches will never offer, in this genre is more important.
Some interesting thoughts! I can't argue with better specs, prices or availability, but taste is a matter of personal preference. My taste is not for inverted displays, or the curves on the sides of the W-202 or LW-204. It's nice that there's something for everyone, I think the octagonal aesthetic is aesthetic for me!

Looking in foto and video... especially the B640 I was thinking ... this is a watch for elder people... but... after G-shock, after F91, after A158 after STR300 after PRG100 after two different A700 regular and milanese... I bought LW204 and I'm surprisingly very happy with it.
It is a very underrated great watch for function, comfort, ergonomic and minimalist style.
Affordable price and some incomprehension by people is kind of a bonus, but it is seriously a great watch. The real successor of F91 legacy.
E.g. if you buy an A1000 (sort of a premium A158...), definitely cool watch in the exterior, but you are at least spending over 4 times for a clock not even resistant 5 bars or able to countdown or eventually getting useful 5 alarms... and of course, like all the line F91 included, it is an industrial product made in china in big quantities... value?Comparing benefits What are you investing money in?
And again, the most thing of F91 is that it is a clock comfortable to wear all day and all night long. W202 is almost the same and even a little better.

Indeed! But without 30m of water resistance, does it really count? 🙂 Aesthetically, it's great. And the light is good too!
