Anita's prime years were the 80's and early 90s yet all her albums are timeless and some are classic R&B. She has a unique voice like Sade and Toni Braxton.
There is a segment on UA-cam where she is giving a concert and about to sing this song - and the AUDIENCE serenades her by singing the entire song to her...she didn't sing one note. That is truly honoring a LEGEND.
I love this album. There is no dud on that album. Her voice is so exciting to listen to cuz she has such a soulful style that no one else has ever equaled. She take you to unexpected places as she sings.
This is my favorite Anita Baker song. I get goose bumps listening to most of her songs, especially from her two albums. "Rapture" and "Giving You the Best That I Got."
When I first heard Anita Baker it was her “Rapture” album; where 2 Grammy’s were won. My favorite is “You Bring Me Joy”; but honestly the whole album can be listened to in one sitting. Once you do listen to this love ballad masterpiece of an album i believe it will become your favorite in this genre.
Go back to 1979 when she song with Chapter 8 and she recorded and all time hit “I Just Wanna Be Your Girl”. They disbanded after that song took off and she was getting offers for solo deal. And she brought the band keyboard player along with her and they co-wrote most of those hit
She rejected a song from Baby Face because it wasn't her style. When he asked what to do with it she suggested the girl who sang it on the demo record it. That was Toni Braxton and the song was Un-break My Heart
Been decades since I've heard this! Great song! For your next one, you'll love "Just Because" or possibly "Talk to Me" or "Body and Soul". One of the best soul-jazz voices ever!
I could listen to Anita for hours. In fact I had that album and the next one and I DID listen to her for hours. No singer quite like her, she fills her own niche.
Amber and Jordan I think it’s great you’re getting to Anita Baker. Her music is just outstanding. Her to biggest hits are caught up in the rapture of love, and Just because.
I haven't thought about Anita Baker since the '80's! So glad you chose this song today. I never realized how much I missed her voice. Such wonderful talent!
Yay! Thank you for listening to this one!! My favorite by Miss Anita. Love this entire album! Just makes you want to dim the lights & light some candles. Lol Blessings to everyone. Merry Christmas & the best of New Years!!
Always here for more Anita Baker! The first song from her I remember, "Angel", is so majestic you think an angel is singing! Another one that's less ballad and more bouncy is "Same Old Love"!
Y’all seriously need to hit her debut album, “The Songstress”, pretty much the whole album is fire and it’s my favorite of all her work. “Angel”, “You’re The Best Thing”, “Feel Me”, “No More Tears”…so many amazing songs!
I fell in love with Anita Baker voice and music in the 80s! My mom always said she was not surprised with my mature taste in music as a teen. She is hypnotic and still get lost In her songs.
this song is one of my faves, anita has one of those voices that gets you in your feels, i get chills when i hear her...she definitely makes you feel it❤️
Anita Baker is one of my All-Time Favorite Female artist!!! She can do amazing things with her voice!!!! Her roots are in in Jazz and Gospel much in which she blends in her vocal delivery!!!! Like the Famous Female Jazz artist Sarah Vaughn, she follows that tradition of deep tone contralto vocals that can sing Alto and Second Soprano range. So, she can go deep into an Alto vocal which in a male vocal range is Tenor; and then soar high in a female Soprano vocal.....Because of her Jazz background she does this scatting in her vocal delivery and adlib like Gospel Singers do!!!! Just AMAZING legendary vocal artist. This song is my favorite song and the Christmas ballet, " These Are A Few Of My Favorite Things."
I am so glad you’re falling in love with Anita Baker’s music. I’ve gotten lost in that voice many times in the 80’s and 90’s. Another you can do is her earliest work called “Angel”.
It's been 4 months since you listened to "Sweet Love." Oh, thanks UA-cam for that haha. She has a lovely smooth voice. Try her "Christmas Fantasy" sometime.
I used to rock my baby girl to sleep while singing You Bring Me Joy. Miss Baker's style, range, sound and feel is nothing short of wonderous. Love her.
No filler at all on this masterpiece of an album. Jay & Amber, I highly recommend playing another track that was a single off the album, "Same Ole Love (365 Days a Year)," and I think you'll feel as you did with her first three. The album earned two Grammy's and and was certified 5X Platinum. Exquisite vocalist.
Anita Baker is incomparable. She's a one of a kind talent. Her musical well is a deep one. I look forward to more reactions to her. I also wish you'd visit some Oleta Adams stuff. She did a couple of duets with Roland Orzabal from Tears for Fears and put out her own stuff. Her song "Get Here" (studio version) is so good and really worth a listen, imo. Happy Christmas, y'all!
I've been waiting for this one; love it so much! This one shows off all of her abilities; deep sultry soulfulness to power. The big note/key change to the end is just so fabulous! ❤
You should check out Anita Baker's 'No More Tears' if you want to hear her push her voice to places you could never imagine she has been to before. Peace and love
That 'Rapture' album is one of the very, very, very best ever. Since you did this one, you gotta do 'Same Ole Love.' It's my favorite tune of hers. Blow your socks off.
Jay, I just loving seeing you enjoy her and your expanding appreciation of great music. Amber is an old soul after my own heart. Merry Christmas to you both 💕
I wish you would have watched the video. Her expressions add so much more. I still can't get over the fact that she was told not to quit her day job because she couldn't sing. 🙄 Anita Baker and Luther Vandross had a lot of us by the heart strings when it came to romance in the 80s. ☺️ Other songs by her.... "Fairy Tales" "Same Ole Love" "Talk to Me" "I Apologize" "Been So Long"
I LOVE Anita Baker!! Her and Amy Grant are two singers that really truly lift my spirits and make me feel so happy. Supposedly, 2023 will bring the return of Anita with The Songstress album....i can't WAIT for it!!!
This takes me back to pre-elementary days, I remember 1986, 1987, or around 1988 listen to her on the car radio while my mother went out to do whatever adult stuff she did. You should listen to “Songbird” by Kenny G
Listening to Anita Baker is like wrapping yourself up in a warm, velvety blanket of happiness.
Indeed it is.

Toni Braxton is Anita lite.
I think I may still have my cassette tape of her. Love love her voice ❤
@@heatherbegs Two of the first cassettes I every bought, and I still have them.
It used to crack me up that Toni Braxton would do playful impressions of Anita Baker in interviews when they sound so similar
@@Scurvous3 queens 😍
Anita Baker is fire! She has so many amazing songs that are still good today 25 years later. Bravo!
Try over 30 years!

Her voice is like a velvety chocolate truffle. Just SO good.
Miss Baker has one of the purest voices in music. She could cross genres: R&B, Soul, Jazz, and Pop. Only great singers with great songs can do that.
Amber and Jordan I think it’s great you’re getting to Anita Baker. Her music is just outstanding. Her to biggest hits are caught up in the rapture of love, and Just because.
Anita's SAME OLE LOVE is really good!!!
The one you absolutely need to hear from Anita Baker is Caught up in the rapture
I fell in love with her smokey and sultry voice many years ago. She is one of my go to singers when I want to reminisce about my younger days. 😊
My friends and I were big Anita Baker fans! One of my friends had a resemblance to Anita! So of course we couldn’t sing like her… but we tried!
I couldn't sing like her either....but I'm a dude.😂😂
Anita Baker always had her own vocal styling, this album was fire when it came out. 👍👍👍
Soulful singer! She's great. Pretty lady too
I haven't thought about Anita Baker since the '80's! So glad you chose this song today. I never realized how much I missed her voice. Such wonderful talent!
One of my favorite female singers. Up there with Phyllis Hyman, Lisa Fischer and Rachelle Farrell.
Why does NO ONE (else, besides you and I) recognize Phyliss Hyman! All props to Anita, but Phyliss was the one that sang me to sleep at night.
But Lisa Fischer did very little which I don't understand.
Anita is a must on the Wall of Fame. Her voice is like a warm hug especially when you really need a hug.
Yay! Thank you for listening to this one!! My favorite by Miss Anita. Love this entire album! Just makes you want to dim the lights & light some candles. Lol
Blessings to everyone. Merry Christmas & the best of New Years!!

Anita Baker is a singer's singer. My Joy shows off her amazing voice to its full extent. I also love her song Fairytales, for the amazing lyrics
I love Anita Baker and it was shocking when she did an interview and she had said that she was told she couldn't sing. She has a style of her own!!
Whoever told her that, and I find it hard to believe that anyone actually did that, then that person is a complete and utter idiot.
Caught Up In The Rapture is one of her signature songs and is so good.
Her vocal performance in 'Body and Soul" will show you that shes up there with the likes of Aretha Franklin and Patti Labelle.
@@saturnnet1627 I agree 💯
@@trevoncarter4861 Oh yeah that's another good one. I also like "You give me Joy"

I have seen her a few times in concert and she sounds even better live.
Two of my favorite songs, among many are I Apologize and I Just Wanna Be Your Girl. She recorded the second song with Chapter 8.
