Anita Baker played a huge role in launching Toni Braxton's career. In a time when every female singer was hitting high notes, Anita and Toni were going low and sultry.
Prefer the “low and sultry” over the high screeching, ear bleeding singers everyday.
It's funny how Toni's first hit "Love Shoulda Brought You Home" was written for Anita by Babyface but she turned it down and Toni became a star.
And on this can hear Anita’s mezzo soprano voice, while she hits you with the low notes, she has big range and hits higher notes throughout,

Just can't go wrong with Anita Baker! Love her music! Got a chance to see her perform at a small private venue in New York. Just Anita and a piano accompaniment. And she was amazing! She sounds just like her recordings. Had the pleasure of meeting her after the performance and even took a picture with her. She was so nice.

I love Anita Baker. I remember when she first came out in the 1980s. She was sooo different.
Anita's voice is unlike most voices. It's a niche voice. There has never been any singer that even sounds like her, She is a one of a kind. Not easy to imitate. Love her singing style so much. Thanks for playing this slow jam. Keep up the good work guys.

Love her voice and the mood her voice puts you in. If its been a long hard day she will relax and put you in that "Right Place" you need to be. You can feel the stress of the day just melt away until your transported to a nice peaceful place. There are tracks from her 1986 album "Rapture" that are just wonderful. "Caught Up in the Rapture", "Been So Long", "Mystery" (One of my favorites) and "Watch Your Step" are all worth the listen. "Fairy Tales", "Body and Soul" and "I Apologize" are others songs you need to checkout. Actually many of her songs regardless if they were singles or album cuts are worth hearing. She has so many great songs. She just puts you in the right mood every time and you feel like she is just singing to you and only you. Great Reaction guys! Hope you listen to more of Anita in the future.

Anita is a vocal powerhouse!!! She has a similar vocal style to Toni Braxton. I remember when Anita had to turn down the song "Love Shoulda Brought You Home" from the Boomerang soundtrack because she was pregnant. And then Toni Braxton was offered it and then she also became a star. Who can forget Toni's "Breathe Again", "Un-Break my Heart", and "Another Sad Love Song". Anita and Toni are amazing!!!
