honestly living in a relatively small conservative town makes listening to people talk about los angeles feel like I'm in a different world. I don't know even a single person who lives their life this way. It feels very detached and desensitizing.

7:27 it's the worst. I had a date and arrived, 1.5hrs away from where I live, and the person kept saying they were running late but coming, keeping me waiting every time I turned to go home. They NEED to come back and address the "LA being a different planet" talking point from the comments. It's important to acknowledge that people come from different cities/countries and dating might be very different on their side of the fence.
I can confirm what he's saying about losing weight changing everything -- I went from getting a date once a month to having to juggle a dozen conversations every day. Losing weight, then taking a picture in good lighting and nice clothes to be your first impression is the biggest possible thing you can do to get more dates.
This video is like the exact reason I won’t download any of these apps. Let fate take the wheel and you control the accelerator if you feel something. Don’t turn your love life into something you need to optimise, it’s not worth it.
Because when apps have a premise of showing pictures to select who you’d want to match with, people of both sexes tend to go for better looking people. It’s like window shopping. Apps are rigged; you’re better off making a new account than using Tinder Gold because being swiped left decreases your ELO. Since you and your match don’t tend to know each other, there’s almost never any social capital restraining someone from ending things abruptly. Meeting friends of friends is just the best answer but people have stopping socializing as much and apps are a supplemental “fix” that only benefits a subsection of people.
These two can get 6 matches in a single week and are talking like they are the normal tinder experience... They are practically on a different planet to what is common.
I hate dating apps so much & wish I could be left alone in a room with the Match CEO who owns all these apps. But how do I date IRL in the suburbs of Texas? There's nowhere to meet girls here, no 3rd places or nightlife. And there's no girls here anyways, it's nothing but old people & families with kids for thousands of miles. I only live here because I was born here & I never left my parents house. I'm autistic & unemployed but can't get a job anywhere I apply. And unless YOU are willing to pay my bills, don't even think about telling me to "Move". First where to? Even inner city Houston doesn't look anything like the cities on TV. 2: How do I move to the city with an empty wallet? Newsflash! Not everyone is rich! I'm sure you could lose 9,000 dollars in the couch & not notice, but I've gotta budget VERY hard. I've got to carefully plan for every dollar I spend. I might be able to afford 1 month rent in an apartment in some cosmopolitan city if I sold everything I have.

Similar to what Blur said, I approach women in a way where I’m not necessarily hitting on them. Just try to give off good vibes. You’ll see which girls respond well to it, and who continues to keep their guard up. It’s a numbers game. You’re not going to get every person you hit on. I wish I could better describe what a “vibe check” is, but I can’t. It’s not something that was taught to me. I feel lucky to have the ability to read people well. I’m big on tone of voice, facial expressions, body placement, and word choice. At the end of the day, confidence is a turn on for a lot of women, and if you mix that with good communication skills, you'll do well in the dating world.
