I enjoyed that! I'm not that familiar with Katatonia, but I can relate to what you were saying about the emotional aspect because things like The Holy Bible by The Manic Street Preachers were the same for me. Nowadays my tastes are different and it was bands like Band-Maid and Gacharic Spin (almost the opposite of this) that brought me to your channel, but I agree that simple music can be very powerful if there's a sincere emotion behind it. By the end of your analysis, I was getting that from this song. Nice idea to do songs that are important to you.

My dying bride t-shirt.and the years you're talking about.starting to realize we must be the same era teenagers and very similar atmosphere was in central Europe back then.That kind of experience of metal/rock is gone
Let's do the "Lacquer" from their later stuff. I don't know why i got obsessed with that record. Maybe you want to dig that one as well, cheers !!
Haven't listened to this song (and album) in a very long time. I am a fan of katatonia's first 2 albums, not so much into their third album and beyond but I made an effort to at least listen to other albums at least once, up until the great cold distance. After that I haven't listened to any of their upcoming albums.

I was just about to ask you a question to convince me (others) why Katatonia is a great band in your opinion.... I held back to listen to the song and realized why I will never be a fan of this band - I'm not saying they're bland but they're definitely not for me ... nope.
I'm a maniacal 👁👁🌙 Opeth fan, and in my opinion, Katatonia doesn't capture the Opeth vibe, too rocky (quasi stoner metal, sometimes??). Maybe because it reminds me too much of Tool (which I appreciate but am not a fan of).
Also, I'm not a fan of Jeff, Radiohead (maybe just Pyramid Song, Creep).
I recommend you My Dying Bride - "A Doomed Lover", a masterpiece of Doom Metal.

Later (more recent) Katatonia is more “complex” with their song structures/time signature changes etc. Personally, I don’t get stoner vibes from them, especially anything post “Great Cold Distance”.
As for My Dying Bride, I’m guessing your recommendation is based on the shirt I’m wearing in this video…Angel and The Dark River or Turn Loose The Swans are pretty much untouchable as far as I’m concerned. Although, I’ve enjoyed some of their catalogue that followed those earlier albums.

Maybe there are some unexplained reactions between the metalheads and their symbols, some X-files theme? Something you can only see in a supermarket full of people, thousands of people and two metalheads will find each other anyway and they will give each other a sign of peace... 🤘
