There are over 200 varieties of nepeta aka catmint and I know the ones I grow are a fabulous perennial in the garden! Keep a look out at your local garden centers for them and let me know if you try some and love it like I do!

I live in Arnold, so glad to have been given your UA-cam address. I’m planning a garden first time this fall.

Wow, a 6 foot tall neptia Never have i seen one that tall. I also didnt know there were 200 different kinds of nepeta. I grow Walkers Low mostly with a few Cat's Pajama. The Cats Pajama really doesnt seem to like our drought and extreme heat, so it doesn't bloom all season. But spring is nice. I like the sound of your chickens.

I let my Cat's Pajamas keep its faded blooms too long and it is taking forever to rebloom but the Cat's Meow just jumped right back into blooming. But also here it could be where I have them planted. The Junior Walkers seems to be taller than I had wish but still very pretty. There are a few more varieties I want to try around the garden that have a bit of a different habit.

Glad I found your channel, I garden in central Alberta on an acreage that I fight for sun also, but I love the tall trees which keep the house cool.
Your growing season is close to mine also, Zone 4 and your plant choices are a lot like mine. So, now I have to binge watch your videos!!
Thank you so much for the great info on Nepeta, I planted a load of it a month or so ago so will need to know about division.

They do great from division. There are many more I would like to try but only have so much space. 😀

I have problems with gophers. So glad to hear they do not bother cat mint.

So far they haven't, I hope it stays that way. You never know what they will decide to eat.

Your zone 8 sounds very much like my zone 5b zone here in Canada. I like watching your videos because you grow many of the plants I do. I trimmed my Cat's Pjs and I got a second bloom and it's still blooming. I have it blooming with my DA roses. I would like to get more in the garden. Bonny

I am hoping to put many of my DA roses back into the ground and want to plant more nepeta at their feet. Yes, though I am a zone 8 I face many challenges and a short season.

    Hi Pam!! 😊
I was just searching “how to divide nepeta” and your video popped up!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 would you say it’s too hot yet to divide? Should I wait until September? We’re cooler this week, but next week is in the 90’s
Sooooooo enjoying this weather and cannot wait for Fall!! lol 😅
Btw so enjoyed your video on gardening burn out. I’ve definitely been feeling a bit of that. A few garden projects to finish up and not starting any new ones!!! lol

After a week away I am revived with so much inspiration from the gardens and plantings around Victoria. What a gardening paradise. Anyways, you could divide them and as long as you kept them moist they should be okay but, of course, they will do better if you waited. Unless you plan on dividing then putting them in pots in the shade, they would do just fine that way. You could plant them in your garden after it cools down then.

My girls are getting chattier. Mr. Bear showed up yesterday so I have to be vigilant again. The bears come around a lot in the Fall for all the apples that start falling from the many trees in this neighborhood.

I have found it a very reliable performer. You gotta love a plant that just does its thing with little help. Plus the pollinators love it!

I'm going to look for "cat's pyjamas" and "kitten around" I have "walkers Low nepeta" and it re-blooms 2-3 times in my growing zone 6a, full sun and lots of water. It doesn't take over although it has made seedlings that I have transferred to other places in my garden. The secret to "flop" is to plant low growing things around like hosta's to hold it up.
