My husband’s mother had colic as a baby. The doctor told his grandmother to make a catnip tea and put it in her bottle to drink to ease it . Worked like a charm.
"Catnip" is _Nepeta cataria,_ while "cat mint" can refer to any other species in the same genus, Nepeta, including _N. mussinii,_ _N. grandiflora,_ _N. nervosa,_ as well as hybrids like _N. cataria x faassenii._ You are right that some people use the term "cat mint" as a synonym for "catnip" (and understandably so; it's "mint for cats," right?), but from a gardening perspective they are different species with slightly different growing habits and flowers. Each species has flowers a slightly different color and grows to different heights. It might actually be most fair to say catnip is a type of catmint, since "catmint" could refer to any species in the genus Nepeta, while only Nepeta cataria is true catnip. I've only ever grown catnip, which has tiny white flowers with purple spots on them. The stems kinda sprawl out, meander, and twist around each other, so because catnip has a "weedy" appearance, other types of catmint are more frequently offered by nurseries as ornamental landscaping plants. Some hybrids are also sterile (meaning they won't spread to unwanted places). If you buy catnip from a pet store, it should be catnip that will grow white flowers with purple spots. Being in the same genus, and in some cases, hybrids of the same species, they are all very similar. Catnip (N. cataria), however, has higher levels of nepetalectone, which is the compound found to repel mosquitoes. In that sense, I would recommend catnip (Nepeta cataria) for use as an insect repellant. Other types of catmint (Nepeta spp.) do have some nepetelectone, it seems just not quite as much. Hope this helps someone.
My family has continually used (since the 1830's that we can document ) a tea made of catnip , fennel fronds (or bruised fennel seeds ) camomile, and peppermint to hydrate and and settle upset stomach s. Catnip has more uses than kitty entertainment ,that's for sure!
Good morning Heidi! God is good, All the time. I'm so glad God led me to your channel. I've learned so so much from you. I think I will sleep in a bed of catnip after ingesting it. That should relax me. No wonder cats love it! You're the best.
Much love and prayers coming at ya from a Texas Granny. ❤️🙏🏼
I had an elderly man suggest catnip. He also used turkey tail mushroom tea for months to clear himself of lung cancer. He was diagnosed and given a 6 month life expectancy 9 yrs ago. He is still alive.
When my daughter, now nearly 40, was a baby had a fever I couldn't break. She got lethargic and while waiting for a doctor call back, I grew frantic and read in a natural healing book to give a catnip tea enema. It was a miracle! She pooped a gooey, mucousy stinky poop and the fever disappeared and she was down and playing within minutes.
Auntie: The book Back to Eden by Jethro Kloss writtenin 1930s talks about using enemas to break fevers in children. His book talks about many herbs & how to use them for what problems. I learned a lot from that book, my first one on herbs. He cured many people from cancer using herbs & water therapy he learned from Dr. Kellogg. The book is still available.
Happy to be here, so I can start my garden.
Fabulous video as always! Update: I don't remember if I told you I had an MRI on my back where the tumor had broken my back. It needs more healing and they r wanting to put a cement substance in it. I prefer not to do that because it will cause the rest of my spine to possibly become weaker and the chances of having additional breaks in other sections is greater with that protocol. I am using comfrey in various ways to help speed up healing. I also use a back brace during the day. Please pray for Devine healing for my back and of course my lung. My lung is healing where the tumor was and I am hoping it won't b long before I won't need anymore treatments. God is glorious! Stage 4 lung cancer is NOTHING for Him! He is all powerful! I am in awe of his mercy and grace! God bless u all!!!
Thank you for sharing the update and I will pray for continued healing. Glad to hear the progress you have made!
Thank you for the informative video. I was looking on how to make the catnip tea with my dried catnip (white flower kind lol) it grows a lot in many areas of my yard. God is most definitely good!💞🥰
Your video popped up in my feed. How wonderful it is to know that a Gentile woman loves the LORD with all her heart and soul! The LORD is amazing all the time! So true!! We can see, hear, talk, walk and breath! All of it is a blessing from the LORD. We have a roof over our head, clothes and food! Another blessing from the LORD! I just wanted to tell you I love you so much and may Elohim (GOD) of Israel continue to bless and protect you, and all that you truly love!! 🌈✝️🌤💖🐑⛺️🌱

''But he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God.''

''There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.
And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.
Hi Heidi, God is good all the time Hallelujah.💖🙏🏻
Yes! I would love more herb profiles and how you use them!
I have been doing these for five years and am always adding to the list as I go. Please make sure you check out the playlist of herbs I have linked to in the description box
I had no earthly idea catnip was so beneficial! No wonder our kitties love it so much. I learn so much from you! Thank you, Heidi for sharing your knowledge with all of us ;-)
Good morning Heidi!🌄
I originally planted catnip for the kitties but, oddly enough, only one of them had the gene. Roxy eats it but she doesn't get all freaky.
Like you, I use it mostly for tea (hot or cold) with mojito mint and a little lemon balm. 🙂
Have a blessed day! 💜🤗
Two of my catnip (catmint?) plants are out where it is more assessable to cats and I have been amazed it has not been torn up. Some would say this is a sign that it is not true catnip however, when I gave a start to a friend so she could grow it, her cat tore it up. I think I gave her another to try again, same thing again. So she gave up growing the catnip for herself! haha
One of my cats isn't interested in it fresh, but once it's dried he goes CRAZY with it. My other cat used to love it fresh and would eat any I brought inside, after she got very sick (not from catnip) and recovered, she doesn't care for it fresh or dried, occasionally she'll give it a few sniffs but it doesn't do much for her.
Great info! Love your style.
Thank you for this. My cat has a limp at mo and been trying to find a home remedy to help with his pain. I can’t believe catnip could help him with that. He loves that stuff.
Thanks for this video. I just brewed my first fresh catnip tea from my herb garden. Tastes lovely.
Thank you for addressing the cat MINT and cat NIP. I had been wondering about that!
Thank you for this information, I planted for my cats ,but will now be sharing with me.
So Much Wisdom - Thanks- Blessings! 🙏
Thanks Heidi, great info. I just harvested some cat nip I think. I’m gonna wait till it flowers to figure out what I’ve got. I’m gonna make a tincture and use it in a tea too. Thanks again! 👏😁
WOW!! ❤️ your channel!!! Great information 👍 👌
Thank you so much for all your videos you put out. They are so educational and helpful. I have learned SO SO much. I hope you and you husband have an awesome day. Good bless you both.
Thank you. I’m planting catnip today.
We DON'T need doctors we NEED God... He provides us with EVERYTHING we need to survive and thrive. I'm growing catnip for the first time this year and now I know More of the benefits, Thank You Mrs Heidi 💯💕🙏. Everyone stay safe and God Bless you and your family from middle GA 🙏 Kendra
Amen doctors really suck at curing people of disease. God has the answers
If I get shot, stabbed, or in a car accident, please take me to the hospital so a doctor can perform surgery. For maintaining our health in general, doctors are not necessary.
I love sipping on Catnip & Chamomile tea. Yummy and very cool
I’ve been growing cat Mint just because I can in the high desert. Beautiful bushes & drought tolerant with all our sand . I will start doing some serious gathering after watching your video.
Have a wonderful day 👵🏻👩🌾❣️
I just had to cut my catnip, back it was out of control and I'm letting it grow back again and hopefully stay on top of it.
Girl, I have finished that stage- but I still flash every now and then...lol Great information, as always!
Thank you for the informative video on catnip. God bless!
Got catnip for the cats. They could care less about it, but love how much the pollinators dig it.
Love hearing about herbs. Thanks
I'm glad you added that at the end. All of what grows here has white flowers and I had begun to second guess myself. Thanks Heidi 🙂
Since most of these videos were shot 3-4 weeks before publishing, I always try to rewatch the morning just before it publishes so I can be refreshed at what I had covered and also make sure I get all the mentioned links in the description box. I was disappointed when I realized I had not made that statement about the white flowers right at the beginning and was starting to think I had totally forgotten it. I just hope everyone listens to it all the way through!
One Of My Favorite Herbs, merci.
interesting. so many uses
I'll need to see how you make teas & such.
Thank you
Thank you, Heidi. You always provide us with such useful information. 😃
I have catnip in a pot on my deck, and it has white flowers.
That's true catnip. Both are in the mint family. This in the video is cat mint also known as walking cat mint. This cat mint seems a little weaker and sweeter in my experience. This one (cat mint) is more pleasant for tea.
i harvest the leaves so quickly, I never get flowers! lol
I also would think as an extract or spray, it would have a mild calming effect as well.
Love your videos! I’m getting my bachelors in integrative health in herbal medicine and we just covered catnip in our last materia medica. Try combining catnip with lemon balm. Delicious and the lemon balm will be helpful in calming frayed nerves. 😊
Yep, I have done that too though I prefer the mojito mint with the catnip but I do alternate with other calming herbs. Lemon balm is one of them and I prefer it alone. I also use will use Tulsi either alone or in a blend. I think I show at least two of these in this video: ua-cam.com/video/w8ghpJ80w_s/v-deo.html
And then I have this video on a list of natural remedies for stress and anxiety: ua-cam.com/video/aMBBB7v2XEs/v-deo.html
Thank you so much for helping plant the seeds for people to look to herbs for better health. And yes people need to look into each herb for them selfs! I am eating plantain and dandelion from my gardens this summer and making juice's with these in it is so good with a fruit mix.
I love rain country.
So glad you mentioned it, my catnip has white flowers. I was getting worried there for a moment. Thanks for sharing .
Good morning Heidi thanks for sharing this information on catnip and its benefits
Wow! Catnip herb has so many benefits:) I will have to grow this next year. I really appreciate this information, thank you:)
Awe! Your doggies are precious 🧡❤️
My catnip stinks. I cannot imagine drinking it or spraying it on myself. Mine also have small white flowers. I am considering using capsules to avoid the taste. Thanks for another informative video.
Wow! I've read about the tea being really good for hair a a rinse (golden tint builds on silver foxes) NO idea should have been drinking it these past 2 weeks! THANK YOU! This will be a nice change from Lemon Zinger tea. So far garlic chopped & covered in honey has been the best cough remedy ... sorry Oliver but you'll have to share the nip now! 😸
Thank you Heidi very good information. I need to grow catnip.
Very informative! New Subby! TFS! Blessings!!🙏🙏❤️❤️
I’m always jealous watching my baby zone out on catnip✌🏼 I’m going make a tea this evening !!
…also, can you do a video on Blue Lotus 🩵
Such a good herb to get your video on today, I was just thinking a few days ago that I'd like mor info on it. Perfect, thank you Heidi and God bless you all!
Btw love all your videos!
We have a lot of neighborhood cats. I didn't know anything about catnip, but I figured they would like it if I grew some. Come to find out, it's good for controlling the mosquito and aphid population in my backyard. Who knew? Plus it's a perennial, so I don't have to babysit the plant when winter comes around.
Heidi, that you for more information on the catnip I did not know either! I am so thankful for your research you did on the catnip and now I am going to try it with the Mojito mint. Thank you Heidi for always having Cody in the video's and his sister on the tiger blanket. Thank you Heidi for all you do for us.
Thank you Wendy! By the way, my poppies are not blooming, that brief heat wave we had nearly fried them but they are starting to grow again thankfully. Maybe next year I will get to see some flowers :)
Can catnip be frozen as well as dried for storage? I'm growing it this year for the first time so have a lot to learn about it. Thanks for your information!
Yes, you can freeze any herb, I just never do because dehydrating takes up far less space and I put up a great number of herbs of all kinds every year from my garden or from what I forage on our other property
I have both catnip and mint and they look different to me. The mint has smaller and darker leaves and purple flowers. The nip can get pretty big leaves, are a light greenish yellowy color and the flowers are much shorter and white. I figure since they both do the same thing I don't care what they're called, lol.
Yes, they do look very different as covered here where I talk about the differences: ua-cam.com/video/Rodae1n2ZUY/v-deo.html
Wow. Idk. My catnip had been going crazy this year. I’ve given away so many starts. I’m going to keep it.
Yarrow compresses are great for sprains.
We're in Georgia, the weather now is very different from how it use to be. What micro climate would to recommend for grow catnip and other medical herbs? BTW, always love how you give God credit!
Catnp/catmint are mints meaning they will grow virtually anywhere. However, not all medicinal herbs will grow well in all places so it really depends on the herb itself. I have had herbs I have tried to grow here but I just cannot get them to do much if anything and we are cooler and very wet here. This is my second time trying to grow licorice. I only got two seeds to germinate. I started them inside in February and they have been out on the front deck for a few months and only just started to grow a couple of weeks ago but are growing very slowly but at least are finally starting to look healthy. If they are still doing ok come fall, I will move them up close to the house to keep them protected from our heavy rains. If I can get them to make it through the winter, they just might thrive come spring. We will see. The point in that story is while some herbs grow like weeds for us, some things like rosemary, that grow like weeds for those in the South, can be pretty challenging to grow here because they do not like a lot of moisture. However, if one is persistent enough and a certain herb is important enough to them, they can likely find a way to make it work but it can take a couple of years or more. It took me about 3 years to finally find the best place to grow my rosemary where it would not drown in our heavy winter rains and now it is all very healthy.
Great video. Thanks for this info, it was very helpful.
Good informational video , thanks for sharing , God bless !
New subscriber here. Recently harvested some wild catnip that I found right after I bought a pot from a nursery. I can’t wait to try the bug repellent infusion. Been looking for something easy to replace the nasty can stuff. Mosquitoes are thick in NC.
Thanks! I will have to post the way I found RCH one day. It was rather amusing to me. I am learning a lot from Heidi, as well as finding kindred spirits here.
Thank you for all of the information you provide. I’m excited to look further into various herbs for home use.
It is a never ending learning process but it is fun and so worth the time
I had no idea that cat nip was for human consumption as well. LOL. This year I grew borage and yarrow as new crops for me. I have echinacea and daisies but have not used them in any medicinal way at this time. I also planted spearmint and lemon balm this year. God‘s creation is amazing.
Thank you so much for this video!
Im so glad you addressed the differences because Your catnip looks different than mine. Mine has very light pink almost white flowers not purple.... so mine is catmint then?
@@RainCountryHomestead oh ok. Cool. Thank you!! Also, i love your snow peas. I ordered them a while back, in the early part of spring... will definitely order more again. 😁
This morning, I am smoking catnip for first time ever and i feel nice, mild relief 😌 of fibromialgic pain. Very nice 👉🧡👈
Wow -Catnip videos 2 days in a row! Heidi, ty so much! You are truly blessed! You inspire me so much!
I do have one question: can you use lemon balm with the catnip & mojito mint?
Nor sure what you mean by two days in a row unless you just happen to see two different ones two days in a row. My first one was years ago and this one here is a month old
@@RainCountryHomestead -it just came up in my scrolling. I’ve been subscribed to you for about 7 months, and a lot of videos I might not see for a few days, and then I might scroll down or click on a link posted for another. Sorry for the confusion-I’m on thyroid meds & watched that as well. I’m coming off so many meds! Can you do a video on how to make your own version of the “super beets” powder? It’s helping my circulation and I dropped 1of my Lasix pills!
Catmint has purple flowers and catnip has little white flowers. They do have some differences. For example cats are more attracted to catnip than catmint. Studies on catmint seem scarce so im not sure if the medicinal properties are the same.
Yes, I did do a follow up video when I was finally able to research it again and find the information that was not available even just a few years ago and from experience in using catmint, I would say the benefits are very similar: ua-cam.com/video/Rodae1n2ZUY/v-deo.html
We have wild catnip that grows by our creek, would LOVE a video on how to actually make these things. Not so sure about how much to use without going to much over. Someone said not more than a cup per day which I understand. BUT how much water and how long to steep. Just stuff like that. I just need a little direction here. Much love and GOD IS ALWAYS GOOD!!❤️👍
As noted in the video, some of the recipes links are in the description box just below the video. If you do not know how to open it, please check out this link where I show how to do that: ua-cam.com/video/eRwTsKRPY48/v-deo.html
This is so cool cuz I was just thinking what cat nip was good for, just 2 days ago. Yes on the fever part of your video. Weight loss & anti inflammatory that great. You use the flowers in the tea?
Just as you’re explaining it won’t raise your body temp you read my mind about hot flashes! No thank you very much 😉
Catnip botanical name Nepeta cataria has white flowers, catmint - Nepeta x faassenii has purple flowers. Many nurseries confuse the two plants. I prefer to use the botanical name for identification if i am going to ingest a plant.
I understand and I cover it more in depth here: ua-cam.com/video/Rodae1n2ZUY/v-deo.html
Why does my catnip have white rather than purple flowers. Is what your showing catmint. Funny you covered this at the end. I think they are different but same😂
I cover more on the differences of the two here: ua-cam.com/video/Rodae1n2ZUY/v-deo.html
Question..me again first thanks. If you catch this would be happy to hear in a this and that or live. I’ve tried growing catmjnt and catnip. They both really struggle. I started by seed which is yeah but I don’t think they grew in size all summer this year. Year 2. I’m thinking maybe too much water but??? Do you grow and have any hints. I too have cool weather and parts of the year lots of rain. Oregon coast.
I see on you tube others struggle with this plant. Thanks
It should do well there though this year my catmint in the main garden did not do well at all but it could be because I was not intentionally watering it as I was giving my gardens a rest this year so did not actively garden, which included watering other than the things I had in pots
This is off the subject ,but I want to mentionthis::one of the best inventions is the Terry cloth wash rag.I just been thinking bout of this for days..imagine washing with a cotton cloth or a piece t.shirt ??? Terry cloth beats them all.😊😊😮😮
I actually prefer hand crocheted or knitted cotton cloths over terry, but yes, terry cloth is good for cleaning as well
Dry herb vaporizer + catnip = happy/relaxed/pain free. Need to research.
I wish I was able to get me some mints again. I have lemon balm, I believe that is what it is. Lol it was my momma's and she can not tell me what it is for sure. I know it smells like lemons, has white flowers, grows like crazy. Lol I been trying to grow some ginger, but my little Elle-May keeps trying to eat it. Grrr... She is only 2 months old, we got her at 1 day old and now she is spoilt. Lol. Hoping about this time next yr we can have goat milk, along with couple of kids.
It is most likely lemon balm. The leaves will look very much like other mints but do have their own distinct differences to the trained eye. However, there are other plants in the mint family that have lemon taste and smell such as lemon thyme or lemon basil but lemon balm smells exactly like lemon Pledge to me.
After watching you I ordered catnip, camomile, stinging nettles, lemon balm, mint, lavender and a few others. So I'm new to this.and have lots of questions. Should I sequester the catnip away from the neighborhood cats? I would hate to grow it out in the open and the locals eat it all. Opinion?
If you can find a place to grow it where cats cannot get to it, yes that would be best, or at least make an enclosure for it that would still allow light and water to get to it
I created a cage with hardware cloth to go over the top of my plants after the neighbors cats (they adopt them then let them go, GRR) decimated my first planting. The cage seems to work - occasionally a stem grows out of it, so the cats eat that- but the majority of the plant is protected
Hi Heidi, I just love your video’s . My hubby has a bit of high blood pressure, and irregular heart beets. I want to find more herbs to lower his BP. I love that I can print out the things you are talking about . You are the best in discribing each herb. Can I make a pain reliever that I can put in capsules. Can I use the pain herbs you made a video of ,can I just put that mix in capsules ?
In my natural remedies playlist you will find a video for heart health, one for stress and anxiety and another for blood pressure. I will link that playlist here so you can look through it and find the video best suite to what you are looking for. What kind of herbs can I look into for Hashimoto Goiter.
Thank you. I really enjoy your videos
Here is a video I did on how to do your own research for looking up herbs for specific ailments: ua-cam.com/video/FEAyCy3oHF0/v-deo.html
Just put the whole aerial part of some catnip in a pot and boiled it for about 30 minutes, but I think I should have removed the stems because it smells like asparagus instead of minty/catnip.
Do you think it will still work for a mosquito repellent? Maybe I boiled it too long.
It is not the stems, it is because you boiled it for thirty minutes. When it comes to mints and many other herbs, you should only heat the water up the turn it off and allow it to steep for 10 minutes or so. Boiling mints destroys their flavor and benefits
Hope you see this, since I've just stumbled upon this video. You mention the dehydrator but also just taking a sprig. Could I just take it right off the plant and steep it for tea? I'm dealing with a respiratory sickness right now and looking for relief. I have bidens alba, cat nip (purchased from the pet store so not sure if that makes a difference), Cranberry hibiscus, ginger, turmeric and Lemon balm growing now. But, I don't have a dehydrator right now.
Yes you can and when mine is growing fresh, I only use it fresh. I dehydrate a bunch to use through the rest of the year
Hi Heidi ,thank you so much for telling us the uses of catnip. I just planted catnip this year and I am wondering , is it normal if the leaves of the plant turn purple? Is there something wrong with my plant? Thank you so much.
If it has been very cold in your area since planting it, the cold will turn the leaves purple. The new leaves coming in will be normal once it warms up
@@RainCountryHomestead Thank you so much, that is very comforting to know. I almost want to throw it cause I thought it has disease. I live in Washington State and it has been raining alot in my area. I appreciate your answer. God bless you.
@@babyana231 I too am in Washington, in the very wettest part of the state so believe me, I understand

Where do you recommend seeds for catnip and do you have any recommendations for buying some already ready for your recipes, thanks, I am working on making a list of things to buy and still plan on ordering from your store and Amazon links. Thanks
You can check on Etsy or Baker Creek or go to your local nursery to see if they carry live starts
Ty
Any advice on planting it? I tried but the skunks apparently love it too! They kept digging it up! Not even my hot pepper flakes kept them from digging it up gleefully! Lol.. they rolled in it like cats! So funny to see though!
No good advice on that, I have been blessed to have mine virtually left alone but when I gave starts to a friends, her cat tore them up.
@@RainCountryHomestead maybe your followers will have ideas. Thank you for replying 🙂
How does it make you feel? I ordered some supplements but am afraid to take them. I have high anxiety and nervousness. Should I take the catnip supplements? Also as far as sweating, won’t that break you out in acne?
@@RainCountryHomestead thank you. I will try the supplement today. I appreciate you and you earned a new subscriber. I can’t wait to have as many beautiful herbs and plants as you! God bless
Does Catnip tea or using catnip as a bug spray make you overly popular with local cats?
Oh and my cat doesn’t like the catmint only the catnip which has white flowers
I have more experience with essential oils. The main reason is I have always lived in cities or a urban setting. I have never tried gardening and is the main reason I have not learned a lot about herbs because I could not grow them. Do you know if catnip is available as an essential oil? Also can you recommend any good books on herbal medicine as well as good sources for purchasing herbs?
Thanks
Never heard of catnip in an essential oil but one can always buy organic dried catnip or any other herb for that matter. I cover some herb books in this video and also provide links: ua-cam.com/video/FEAyCy3oHF0/v-deo.html
@@RainCountryHomestead Thanks so much for your response. I will check out the video link in a few minutes. Also thanks for sharing your knowledge about herbs and medicinal plants.
Do you make the tea from fresh leaves or dried? Thanks!
Depends on the time of year. I use fresh when I have it coming in fresh, dried through the rest of the year
Hi, Pat and Heidi....I was curious about your thoughts on freeze drying herbs instead of dehydrating? We do have a freeze dryer, but......We have not tried herbs in in yet? Thank you...
I am sure it will work just fine. I have heard of others doing it. However, herbs will likely dry quicker in a regular dehydrator but freeze drying may preserve the flavor and benefits a little better.
I have catnip and catmint. What I’m seeing in the beginning of the video is catmint not catnip. Catmint has a very strong smell and catnip smells mildly like Marijuana when it’s dried. Two different plants but equally great.
Correct and I clear that all up here: ua-cam.com/video/Rodae1n2ZUY/v-deo.html
It's a bug repellent and a cat attracting 😁
So true. My crazy cat is a fiend for it. He has destroyed one of my plants. He just eats it right off the stem all the way down to the ground and i can't keep him out of it. Lol.
The cats are the reason I can't grow it where I am currently living lol we have a ton of stray cats and they destroyed my catnip last year before I could even get it to grow more than 6 inches.
@@florencekirk9021 that's why our main garden is fully fenced with deer netting and it's like 10 feet tall all the way around... the darn cats and deers and also neighbor dogs like to come dig and poop in my garden too. 😑 all the critters. 🙄 love em, just don't want them eating and or pooping in my garden. 😊
Can be mixed with other herbs?
In regards to the first plant you are showing, with the purple flowers, isn't that cat mint? Not cat nip.. I've been growing catnip for three years now and it doesn't look like that. It's more like buds of flowers.
A year after the above video I was able to research again and find all the information I could not find just a few years ago on the differences: ua-cam.com/video/Rodae1n2ZUY/v-deo.html
Do I have to dehydrate the the leaves to make a tea or can i just pick em and just add boiling water?
I dehydrate for use in the winter when it is not growing, I use fresh in teas or even eat straight from the plant when it is growing
My cat mint has the darker purple and catnip has very light purple
NOTE: Here is the more recent video I did on the differences of catnip and catmint and how to tell them apart: ua-cam.com/video/Rodae1n2ZUY/v-deo.html
