    IWC Schaffhausen has just launched its new Pilot’s Watch Chronograph 41 at the Watches & Wonders and we already have it reviewed it. The new model features a stainless steel case in a compact size of 41mm and is available with a blue or green dial. It is now powered by the IWC-manufactured 69385 calibre, which is visible through a sapphire caseback. Finally, it features a new quick-change system and a choice of straps made of calfskin or rubber, or even a stainless steel bracelet. Take a look at our review of the new New IWC Pilot's Watch Chronograph 41 ref. IW3881.

    Recently tried on the green dial on the bracelet. I have zero experience with IWC but this absolutely sold me; incredible watch. The green is so nice in the flesh and the watch itself felt and looked so good on wrist. Instantly added to my already too long wish list.

    Got the green in the leather strap. I’ve seen both and I think the green just pops more and the brown leather strap somehow makes the green look even better and compliments it nicely. The 41 mm for a pilot watch fits my 6.75 inch wrist nicely. Happy with the purchase. Had to pre-order and put a deposit it without trying it on so was sweating until I tried it on but was all good

      Exactly, I am missing a green dial in my collection, but I am confused because paying such amount of money the watch has to be so versatile. The green on brown just does not work well w so many outfits. Amy thoughts???

    Case sizes are becoming more universal. Will most definitely be checking this out as I felt the 43mm was too chunky for my wrist. 41mm and a tad thinner is certainly a plus and the easy removable straps are cool. 20mm strap width opens up a world of opportunities but the IWC leather looks good enough. Blue dial on brown strap could be sold. Only issue is the PR is a bit pedestrian. Why not 60 like the new Big Pilot for in house?

    • @Monochrome-watches
      @Monochrome-watches  3 роки тому +2

      This will surely fit most wrists due to the smaller dimensions. Your statement about the PR, fair enough, but the 69385 and the 82100 are completely different movements of course. Hard to compare the two. Maybe it will get updated in the future, but 46 hours will get you a long way already.

      @@Monochrome-watches this much is true as most people wear their nice watches on the weekend anyway so who needs a PR as long as 70 hours - all this leave over the weekend and it’s running on Monday is marketing BS when people mostly wear the other way around.

    Kinda silly that they make the strap change system, but no straps! I bought the Chronograph 41(green dial). I need an XL strap. Nearly impossible to find. Also, no rubber straps available, only original brown which I am lucky to get and had to fly in from halfway around the planet and only 1 was available. Otherwise wait was two+ months. Also found a black with black stitching, it is on order....who knows when I will get it. Not sure why they don't produce 15 strap options in 3 different sizes and stock them at the boutiques. Guess that would make too much sense. Come on IWC.

    I wonder why there is still no turning bezel on a pilot watch, no tone-in-tone calendar discs, no set hour digits like on the 3717 Spitfire and no silicone escapement parts yet. The watch is very nice, I hope to have these upgrades some time. (Of course turning bezel and set hour digits as options as some like the other way around.)

      It really depends on a lot of factors and its impossible to tell you if this would work on your wrist. It's down to construction of the case, shape and angle of the lugs, how your wrist is shaped, how you like to wear your watch etc. We do know the 41mm Pilot's Watch Chrono fits a lot of people, but not everyone. Some prefere smaller, some prefer bigger watches.

  • @traquakuppler
    @traquakuppler 3 роки тому +13

    Review? More like a 4 min IWC ad... why cant any watch "journalist" ever say anything slightly negative and honest about a watch. This guy even refers to the lume as giving optimal legibility in the dark, dude seriously the watch is poorly lumed with no lume on the arabic numerals. Last but not least, I love IWC, just so sick of all the "articles" and videos today from watch "magazines" 100% praising all releases telling us over and over that everything is perfect...

    • @SmurffNationn
      @SmurffNationn 3 роки тому +1

      Because watch journalism outlets have razor thin margins, and one of their only sources of income is the watch brands themselves. That’s why coverage is always neutral at worse.
      Here’s my critique:
      • I would have liked to see lumed numerals. For a model rooted in functionality, it’s hard to tell the hour in the dark with this reference.
      • I know it’s based on a Valjoux 7750, so there’s only so much they can do to reduce thickness, but a thinner case (13.5mm or less) would have been nice.

    The main problem with IWC is their Price. Way too expensive for what it is

    • @coffeeboyclips1973
      @coffeeboyclips1973 Рік тому

      They have to be expensive as they are seen as a high end luxury watch brand, if they were cheap, everyone would be wearing an iwc. The entry level iwc watches are similar in price to Omega and Rolex, the more complicated iwc are very expensive.

      As to the reasonableness of price, not for me to say. But I believe an IWC deployant clasp for this is available. (You’d have to pay somewhat extra, but if you’re otherwise interested in this watch at this price point, it’s hard to imagine that that would be the deciding factor.)
