Interesting: we now have at least four brands which are using the same extremely comfortable adjustable length clasp, being A. Lange & Söhne, Glashütte Original, IWC and Greubel Forsey. Do you know which company is the supplier?
Great video! I have the IWC 3777 le petit prince, would it be worth to upgrade? Don't really like the see through caseback though. Interested to hear what you think :)
No, keep your 377714! It is a beautiful and wonderful chronograph! If you consider buying another IWC there are definitely alternatives you could have a look at ...
Despite not loving the look of the bracelet, I must say it's the best built and easily adjustable I've ever seen. I have a 43mm Petit Prince which I think overall looks better, but this is also incredible. Well done IWC, and nice review.
I’ve looked online at the new releases of IWC, Breitling, Rolex, etc., and the one that is a real home run is the new men’s Vacheron 1921 in white gold. The new releases for IWC and Breitling are great as is the steel limited edition of 25 by Chopard.
A compelling piece - the 43mm was a little large/thick for my taste perhaps this beauty will be more wearable for most people. All of the innovations are amazing - the only flaw I can possibly think of is the strap buckle pin coming loose and lost as it clips on, probably not a real world issue. As always a thoroughly comprehensive review with amazing photography. Another home run from IWC and a lot of watch for the money.
The thickness is due to the fact that the in-house calibre replaces the Valjoux 7750 ... all dimensions are the same... so IWC can continue using all there is still on stock and service clients ... even with a new calibre if necessary ...
I used to have the IWC pilot Laureus limited edition in blue that looks like this. I sold many years ago and instantly regretted it. I might have to get this to replace that. Great review
The tools to dismantle the bracelet are in the cushion of the travel case. Push on the little circle on the side of it and it will come out on the opposite side.
Awesome changes to the already lovely Pilots chrono! Wish the case thickness was slightly slimmer though...! Does it feel particularly thick in your opinion?
I have the Mark xvii on bracelet. This new bracelet I must say has a competition only from Blancpain . It is so smooth and versatile you hardly can feel it wearing. Cheers
Alexander, thank you for being so detailed with the new strap swap process. For the pin buckle, is it magnetic, or is it friction? If friction, how secure is it? Or do you foresee some people losing it?
Hey Alex, super Video. Sehr detailliert und mega viele Informationen. Also sehr coole Bandwechselmöglichkeiten. Sehr gut. Ist eben die gleiche Firma. Richmond. Also kann schon eine deutsche Entwicklung sein. Diese Uhr mit dem grünen Blatt ist cool. Die Krone ist das beste was ich je gedreht habe. Tolles Manufakturwerk. Tolle Haptik.
Thanks for asking! That’s BS of course… Yes, this is an IWC developed and manufactured chronograph calibre. What is true, is that all parts around the movement (dial, movement holding ring etc.) from the former ETA can also be used with the IWC in-house calibre. This makes sense and is a smart approach…
I also recently purchased this recently. The design of the IWC Pilot Chronograph is perfect! I got it on the blue dial. Love it. Someday, I'd also like to own the Mark XX too (green dial). I am surprised these watches are not better known!
WatchAdvisor, Alexander, is this a brand new announcement or the new watch that they have had on their site for a couple of months now? And the green dial one is also SS or is it Bronze? Lastly, do additional bracelets/straps come with the watch (like VC Overseas) or do you have to purchase them separately?
@@WatchAdvisor I saw the green one in SS on Revolution's channel later this afternoon. I think I had seen it even before worn by Kevin O'Leary but he claimed it was a special edition only sold exclusively in the middle east and he supposedly had sourced it because of his Lebanese connection (on his mother's side).
i've owned Rolexes for about 40 years and have considered getting a Skydweller but they are almost impossible to find unless you are willing to pay $10,000 over list for a SS and blue dial model. This one is 1/3rd the cost and just as beautiful. I wonder if any retailer would offer a slight discount?
... " I wonder if any retailer would offer a slight discount?" ... I think so! Go and try it out... maybe you can pay cash ... this is always a good argument ...
Hallo, können Sie mir bitte sagen wo ich den „Glasstift“ herbekomme, mit dem Sie die Details der Uhr zeigen. Vielen Dank. Sonst kann ich nur sagen: Beste Uhrenvorstellung 👍🏼👍🏼
Hello nice video, question: it is really 100% manufactured movement? Only 46 hrs power reserve, typical configuration (day-date), very wide (14.5mm). Very similar to the old movement!!!!
Thanks for the great review.. QQ: for an excellent condition used piece with papers/box - what's a good price range in US? (I know it varies but ballpark)
Thank you for the review! I have the 43mm - do you know they will produce the same blue rubber strap or are interchangeable with the 43mm? Thanks in advance.
Kinda silly that they make the strap change system, but no straps! I bought the Chronograph 41(green dial). I need an XL strap. Nearly impossible to find. Also, no rubber straps available, only original brown which I am lucky to get and had to fly in from halfway around the planet and only 1 was available. Otherwise wait was two+ months. Also found a black with black stitching, it is on order....who knows when I will get it. Not sure why they don't produce 15 strap options in 3 different sizes and stock them at the boutiques. Guess that would make too much sense. Come on IWC.
Dude I’m running into to the same problem. I’m searching through these videos seeing if I’m missing options and k stumbled on your comment. I have an 8.5 inch wrist and had to order extra links. The standard strap doesn’t fit. I need XL length option in leather and rubber unfortunately I can’t find any. I just swap with a variety of rubber leather and cloth natos.
@@floridaman727 I would have the same problem with strap length if I were to buy this watch, IWC do list an XL leather strap for the MK XX but generally XL is very very difficult to find, even in aftermarket straps, I have tried nato straps and don't really enjoy wearing them .
@@chrisgaunt7402 I have had good luck with Hirsch. They have many offering in XL length. And another is B2 by rubberb. You can fully customize your own straps including length. Pricey though.
Thanks for the great video! Are they available now in the US? If I get the green dial what color rubber strap will it come with? Also can you only get the rubber strap or must you get either the bracelet or the leather strap and the rubber as an accessory?

Die Grüne wäre mein Favorit, auf alle Fälle mit Stahlband und die anderen dazu kaufen. Bei dem Rubber hätte ich mir die Integration an das Gehäuse gewünscht. Toller Beitrag 👍
No! IWC has been testing this like crazy to avoid any accidental "come off". You need to apply some force to open the mechanism and this can only be done when wanted...
Thanks for video! Further to the question above about strap coming off. What about the pin that clicks in on the buckle? Isn’t that a failure point? Most have a solid part that the pin goes through. Thoughts?
Excellent review. I've almost pulled the trigger on the 43 chrono but it it looks just a bit too big - gonna look close at this one. Thanks for the great review.
Worn with the rubber strap it feels light on the wrist, although it looks best with the typical leather strap… please let us know what you think after you tried it on your wrist…
I own omega sea300, Rolex solid gold sub, cartier, Breitling, hamilton, apple watch lol, Baume and Mercier, and THIS IWC in Prince blue dial that you have, and I have to say, this is my favorite one to wear especially in the summer when the sun hits the dial. This is the only watch that I can never tell the time with because im obsessed with how the dial looks every time I flip my wrist.
I was also wondering about the width of the strap because I would like to buy one to put on my silver dial Spitfire pilot which has a lug width of 21mm. The chrono has a width of 20mm but the Big Pilot 43 has a lug width of 21mm.
@@WatchAdvisor valid point for people buying online, i bought from the boutique so no issues for me, as i was able to test fit. But even so, mine just fits after fully extending the micro adjustment, something to consider for chunkier wrist peeps.
I’d go for the Big Pilot… But PLEASE try both 1:1 on your wrist in different light conditions… then let your heart decide, it won’t lie… keep us posted please!
I guess in theory it keeps the cost of the straps down if they are sold without buckles. You could always purchase a second buckle to leave on if you choose.
Can I give you a helpful tip, ditch those cotton gloves. Get something like SafeSkin Nitrile heavy duty gloves. The are more skin tight, very easy to pick up things (not slippery at all) and come in black. As always, great video! The strap / bracelet technology is so amazing, I’m amazed everyone isn’t stealing this tech. No tools love it!!,
Thanks for your kind feedback and your tip! I will try to get these gloves and try them… When they in the near future appear on your screen I will not miss to say thank you…
As always excellent video. Thank you really for making watches come to life in your videos. Amazing work and detailed! Butnof course how could it be else, I have to ask you something and need your knowledge Alexander! ;) I love the new Big pilot 43 but its too thick for me and maybe top big. I finally decided for my 17cm wrist not to bux anymore big watches, especially in thickness up to 11mm. Do you think or do you know if there gonna be soon also a new pilot or petit prince in 40/41mm with the fantastic new bracelet and great bracelet? Because the old petit prince is really nice and slim! but I dont want to buy it now and see in few months coming a new one, with a more refined dial and the new bracelet. Thank you and stay healthy!!!
Thank you for the kind feedback! I do actually have the new 43 mm Big Pilot for a review… I will start filming it next week… if that helps… Concerning possible novelties I don’t have any information yet…
@@tobyt684 Appreciate the concern. Alex seems cognizant of his handling of the watches. Acrylic is softer than any part of the case and the round tip glides over the surface is there is contact. Even if it’s glass, I wouldn’t expect any damage.

I don't know where you are based... This is the relevant information you need taken from the IWC website: www.iwc.com/gb/en/purchase-straps-or-buckles/straps-and-buckles.IWIW388101.html
That's a subjective perception of course ... tastes are different ... The BEST you can do is to try it on YOUR wrist and then simply let your heart decide... If you like what you see and if it feels good BUY it.
Hello watch is really beautiful but recently I heard bad news about Panerai lying that their movement P.9200 "in-house" then the lying had been expose because it just Base ETA movement... Is this IWC Movement is real 'in-house' ? Or it just Modified like in Longines Calibre which Longines really beyond than modified because they have Retrograde and Moonphase Complete Calendar and Chronograph. If it just base I may go with Longines one. This is my first time in watch industry and when heard news about Panerai it really make me feel bad so much. Thank you for help ! Your video very good as always.
Thanks for asking and trusting me! The IWC 69xxx family is an in-house calibre designed, developed and manufactured by IWC. The calibre was developed to get 100% independent from ETA. There are some similarities - yes! The calibre was designed in that way so dials etc. can be used either for the still existing ETA 7750 in some IWC watches as well as for the new 69xxx equipped watches. So no worries, you are not buying an ETA derivative… it is an IWC calibre! Let me know if you have other questions!
@@WatchAdvisor At first I looking at Rose gold Index Chronograph Portuegiese 41 (exhibition-caseback) but I think automatic 40mm which using 82200 had more beautiful movement I might go at 40mm :)

Looks good, lug to lug is a bit large though for a 41mm watch
Almost (if not exact) same dimensions as the Spitfire Chronograph, and heard it fits like 43mm for a 41mm watch.
Despite not loving the look of the bracelet, I must say it's the best built and easily adjustable I've ever seen.
I have a 43mm Petit Prince which I think overall looks better, but this is also incredible. Well done IWC, and nice review.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us and your kind and positive feedback!
I just hope that for the price they’re asking it comes with all those 3 straps/bracelets...
No it does not! Comes with one...
I’ve looked online at the new releases of IWC, Breitling, Rolex, etc., and the one that is a real home run is the new men’s Vacheron 1921 in white gold. The new releases for IWC and Breitling are great as is the steel limited edition of 25 by Chopard.
Nice review, well done!
My pleasure!
This new Pilot's chronograph is better than the Laureus you sold... so don't regret it anymore ... ;-) let me know if you have questions...
The tools to dismantle the bracelet are in the cushion of the travel case. Push on the little circle on the side of it and it will come out on the opposite side.
Thanks for sharing!
Awesome changes to the already lovely Pilots chrono! Wish the case thickness was slightly slimmer though...! Does it feel particularly thick in your opinion?
For me absolutely ok! I still think a Pilot's watch may have a certain thickness since this also reflects robustness...
I have the Mark xvii on bracelet. This new bracelet I must say has a competition only from Blancpain . It is so smooth and versatile you hardly can feel it wearing. Cheers
Thanks for sharing your feedback!
Thanks for the detailed review. Would you know what grade of stainless steel is IWC using for their pilot watches? Thanks and take care.
Will let you know ASAP… Need to let them confirm me that it is 316L
@@WatchAdvisor Hi there. Were you able to get the info? Thanks. 😊

316L! Confirmed!
@@WatchAdvisor perfect. Thanks for checking it out! 😊
Gorgeous. Very informative vid. Thanks
You are very welcome! Thoughts about the chronograph?
Hi, it will be nice if you can have small review on IW389401?
Not planed so far....
Alexander, thank you for being so detailed with the new strap swap process. For the pin buckle, is it magnetic, or is it friction? If friction, how secure is it? Or do you foresee some people losing it?
Looks like it's friction. I also wonder the longevity of it. I guess it's fine as average people won't change straps that often.
Anybody have more feedback on this? Great question I have the same concern….
Funny that I'm actually watching this on Wednesday the 4th..A year after it was posted.
What about the chronograph ? Do you like it?
Hey Alex, super Video. Sehr detailliert und mega viele Informationen. Also sehr coole Bandwechselmöglichkeiten. Sehr gut. Ist eben die gleiche Firma. Richmond. Also kann schon eine deutsche Entwicklung sein. Diese Uhr mit dem grünen Blatt ist cool. Die Krone ist das beste was ich je gedreht habe. Tolles Manufakturwerk. Tolle Haptik.
danke für Dein detailliertes Feedback! Ja, das sind Hirsch-OEM-Bänder ...
Is it truly an "in-house" calibre? I've heard that it's just a highly modified Valjoux movement
A Valjoux 7750 has the seconds sub-dail at the 9 o'clock position and that can't be changed. The IWC in-house has it on the 6 o'clock position.
My favorite watch!
Have you seen it in real yet?
@@WatchAdvisor Not yet, but I will definitely buy one in the future!
👏🏻 Let me know if you have any questions…
@@WatchAdvisor Thank you👍
Hi Alexander, love your detailed review on the watch, is it possible to use aftermarket strap on this?
Of course! You have a spring-bar in-between the lugs and you can attach any strap that fits...
I also recently purchased this recently. The design of the IWC Pilot Chronograph is perfect! I got it on the blue dial. Love it. Someday, I'd also like to own the Mark XX too (green dial). I am surprised these watches are not better known!
Congratulations, thanks for sharing! May your IWC always show you happy seconds, minutes and hours…
Mate, I have both! Great duo
Yes! The watch comes with one strap/bracelet...
Nice review, Alex. What about the movement? Is it true the escapement contains some silicone parts?
YES, absolutely... in preparation to get a silicon hairspring starting in 2024...
Alexander. Great video. Thank you. Do you know they are going to sell those bracelet/strap kits separately ?
Yes, the will do this and also expand the offer...
Very nice! But why isn't there a black dial?
Just wait for it... will come later... ;-)
@@WatchAdvisor Any ETA for the black dial version?
i've owned Rolexes for about 40 years and have considered getting a Skydweller but they are almost impossible to find unless you are willing to pay $10,000 over list for a SS and blue dial model. This one is 1/3rd the cost and just as beautiful. I wonder if any retailer would offer a slight discount?
... " I wonder if any retailer would offer a slight discount?" ... I think so! Go and try it out... maybe you can pay cash ... this is always a good argument ...

Hello nice video, question: it is really 100% manufactured movement? Only 46 hrs power reserve, typical configuration (day-date), very wide (14.5mm). Very similar to the old movement!!!!
That’s 100% an in-house developpement from IWC and is manufactured in the new manufacturing plant of IWC...
Thanks for the great review.. QQ: for an excellent condition used piece with papers/box - what's a good price range in US? (I know it varies but ballpark)
It is to early to tell … the chronograph was just released …
They should be putting lume on all hour markers at least.
Why? I like that clear look...
Thank you for the review! I have the 43mm - do you know they will produce the same blue rubber strap or are interchangeable with the 43mm? Thanks in advance.
Please help me and tell me which 43 mm you own...
@WatchAdvisor Ref: 377714.. Thank you!
Thanks for sharing! That's good and useful feedback! I will forward a screenshot of your comment to IWC ... Where are you based?
@@floridaman727 that's great... I have had a Hirsch Liberty XL and that was brilliant.... But honestly... even Hirsch don't have many XL options 😑
Thanks for the great video! Are they available now in the US? If I get the green dial what color rubber strap will it come with? Also can you only get the rubber strap or must you get either the bracelet or the leather strap and the rubber as an accessory?

Do you think the strap will come off too easily? By chance or accident maybe?

THIS IWC in Prince blue dial that you have, and I have to say, this is my favorite one to wear especially in the summer when the sun hits the dial. This is the only watch that I can never tell the time with because im obsessed with how the dial looks every time I flip my wrist.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts and passion with us! May your IWC continue to always show you happy seconds, minutes and hours…
Nice rubber strap. What is the strap width? 21mm?
I was also wondering about the width of the strap because I would like to buy one to put on my silver dial Spitfire pilot which has a lug width of 21mm. The chrono has a width of 20mm but the Big Pilot 43 has a lug width of 21mm.
@@user-wi9nn6dz8w Same here. That blue rubber would look good on my Le Petit Prince pilot chrono which is also at 21mm.
Isn't it wed 07 today? Confused! LOL
He he... I could have been setting "WED 7"...
Worth noting the standard bracelet is good for only up to about 7.25" wrists
Can you specify? What’s the point?
@@WatchAdvisor valid point for people buying online, i bought from the boutique so no issues for me, as i was able to test fit. But even so, mine just fits after fully extending the micro adjustment, something to consider for chunkier wrist peeps.
still a great review by the way =)
That IWC Chronograph is stunning great to see display case back. I'd also rather it on a rubber strap.
Rubber is an option, but might not be the sexiest way of wearing a pilot's watch... I opt for the leather strap ...
Great review as usual Alex. Would you go for this or a big pilot 😅?
I’d go for the Big Pilot… But PLEASE try both 1:1 on your wrist in different light conditions… then let your heart decide, it won’t lie… keep us posted please!
Just can't understand why IWC don't do one buckle for the rubber and another for the leather strap!
What would be the difference?

@@rafaelcambauva2540 Thanks for specifying!

Butnof course how could it be else, I have to ask you something and need your knowledge Alexander! ;)
I love the new Big pilot 43 but its too thick for me and maybe top big. I finally decided for my 17cm wrist not to bux anymore big watches, especially in thickness up to 11mm.
Do you think or do you know if there gonna be soon also a new pilot or petit prince in 40/41mm with the fantastic new bracelet and great bracelet? Because the old petit prince is really nice and slim! but I dont want to buy it now and see in few months coming a new one, with a more refined dial and the new bracelet.

can you use a soft tip pointer please? acrylic tip is hard...
?????
@@WatchAdvisor you could damage the watch surface. It’s fir your own good.
@@tobyt684 Appreciate the concern. Alex seems cognizant of his handling of the watches. Acrylic is softer than any part of the case and the round tip glides over the surface is there is contact. Even if it’s glass, I wouldn’t expect any damage.
