After several years of developing my style, I'm really starting to see it pay off now. I've got a bunch of outfits that make me feel great and I'm starting to get compliments on them too. In other videos Antonia has said, don't be afraid to be the best dressed man in the room. Wise words. I can tell you it's a real confidence boost when I walk into a room, and I know I look great, and you can tell others see it too. So, if you're just starting out, relax and don't worry about it. Take your time, do your research, save up money while looking at lots of options, and then buy with confidence. Don't sweat it when you make the occasional mistake. Learn from them and keep moving forward.

I’m the same. I’ve been developing my style for the last 3 years, and I feel like I’m finally getting things on point to where I really like my style. (Part of it was playing around with different facial hair styles along with suits, and the like) which has taken me a while to test out and develop.

The key is not to see something nice an buy it, but instead to actively decide what clothing you want and then seek out the right item. Purposely decide on your wardrobe rather than buy individual items because they are a good deal.

I think the easiest thing to do would be to go over EVERY piece of clothing/ accessory/ shoe type from formal to casual and name it. Problem with starting is many times we don't know what things are called or if they even exist. Then list what the staples of every guys wardrobe should be and what brands typically sell the style of clothes

Antonio, you really sell the idea of fashion to me! Never been into fashion, if anything I LOATHED the idea of wearing something just so I look better, but after watching some of your stuff I feel I can start to at least dip my toes into it and see what I can get out of it.

I think a lot of us see looking nice as something unpleasant because in the past we were forced to look a certain way for our family and we'd get no freedom to choose.
I think owning your style means breaking away from what social standards tell you to do, and instead focus on what you like, what makes you feel good when you look in the mirror. Stylish doesn't mean standard.

Antonio, this is well put video. I just turned 46 a week ago. In the last couple of years I have been changing my wardrobe up some, after leaving the retail industry and started my career in the banking industry. I have about 8 suits and and I sent about three pairs of suit pants to be altered, because I lost more than 40 lb in less than a year (I went from a size 38 down to a 34 inch waist 😊). I will send more out to be altered as I can afford it. Trust me, I've been wearing my to good use. When it comes to shoes, I either like the plain toed or moc-toe. The wing tip and cap-toed just doesn't suit my needs nor style. I will be looking into investing in a pair of Chelsea boots. I already have a couple pair of Chukka Boots. Thanks 👍🏾 for all you do to help guys step up their style game, whether they have a blue collar or white collar career.

@Sean Pee. Speaking as a person who has developed software for the global Financial and Banking markets, then got promoted to National and Global Sales Manager roles, how you dress can be measured by the thickness of your Pay Pack.
More relevant is the fact that when I select any member of any Technical Support Group to accompany me on a Client visit is to check the state of their shoes. I grew up on a Naval Base and my Father always looked like he had just stepped off the cast of JAG. Watch a replay to see how polished shoes really lift your appearance. Phil.

Antonio you forgot important thing in the whole thing that you did not mention and that is that when you are wearing your nice clothes you like and you feel nicely dressed, then it shines on you and this women notice that it radiates about you. They turn their eyes to you or she stands still and looks and admires you, this attracts you women because of how you feel and you radiate. So that you really understand what I mean. You meet a woman who is radiant and you just think wow, look at her. This is precisely because the woman has dressed so that she feels beautiful and then it radiates about her and you men feel attracted to her. The same thing happens to the women when they see you and how it radiates around you, because exactly how you feel in the clothes you wear and a smile on your lips.

I feel like another useful piece of information is figuring out what seasonal color palate suits you best. At the bare minimum learning whether your complexion has warmer or cooler undertones. This is good to know before you invest in bunch of gold or silver accessories, and for when you going to pick out that showing stopping ‘red‘ piece. Ensuring you actually pick out a shade that brings out the best in you, rather than leaving you looking like a clown or like it’s sucked the life out of you…

Hi I'm new to your channel. I just wanna let you know the 1st time I learned about this was through GQ magazine back in the seventies. Well that's pretty much the last time I tried to redo my wardrobe. I'm 66 years old now and I want to do a cowboy theme here in Florida.. So what I did is bought some used cowboy boots. And back in 2014 I bought myself a real cowboy had an Arizona. So I'm gonna take your advice and redesign my entire wardrobe. Thank you for your insight

Great tips! As a lawyer, I tend to use suits and business/sports jackets regularly. For years, I've had practically only bought off-the-rack, but have recently decided to switch to tailored clothing, and oh boy, what a huge difference!
To start off, the fitting, customization and quality are worlds apart, sometimes even for more or less similar prices. For instance, I was about to buy a Hugo Boss jacket (for about the equivalent of USD $375), but after comparing it with three sports jackets I commissioned with my local tailor this year (each for about the equivalent of USD$325), I refrained from buying the former. The tailored jackets were simply far superior in all senses, even my fiancee immediately noted the differences.
Further, I had a jacket from one of my off-the-rack suits start "bubbling" last year. Even though the fabric was high quality (Ermenegildo Zegna Trofeo) and the suit was made in Italy, it's fused construction took its toll. This got me thinking that any garment, despite not being from a "major fashionable brand" but rather made by a skillful tailor, is a much better long term investment.
End of story, the money I saved by not buying the Hugo Boss jacket will go towards the advance payment for my next purchase, a two-piece suit made by my tailor with Super 150's merino wool and cashmere.
There's my two cents, don't fall for the "major fashionable brand" deceive and rather go for the best quality made clothes you can afford (even if you'll have fewer garments). Needles to say, I will slowly continue replacing the off-the-rack garments for quality tailored suits and jackets.

Well the understanding of this and a lot moore from you Antion rased my game a lot:
    5 shoes
    5 trusers
    5 shirts
    5 sweters
    5 jackets
    Equals 3.125 combinations.
Then you can add in a few suits, ties pocketsqueres and leathergods in brown and black. I dont think first place to go crazy is in suits, but I like to have at least two so I have a reserve one, they you actually deer to wear them moore. But check them out in good time before use. That weeding or buisness event you dont want to realize its dirty, broke or what is moore comon to smal. If you can buy an extra trouser and its one size biger on 70% sales thats the one of no no style tips I would break and buy anyway. If I love the suit. Otherwise I probably wouldn't go with an extra pair of pants. Its hard to know what to love in suits without trying them. Some are stylish but not as comfy or practical.
If you buy the absolut classics of a bit better quality those extra $100 will spread out over 5 years and pay of.
Don't buy stuff on sales, buy the basics of very good quality they are going to be like 90% anyway.
Take care of the 5^5 and you always have stuff to wear, watch then out for replacement stuff on sale.
Best thing is to buy en extra pair of trousers or a west for your suit on sale.
In your 5^5 = 25 clodes dont start with the most expensive take that at the end when you have moore money. Start of with like RAW jeans, sneakers och boots.
Budget, go true what you have (trow), analyze at home and then go shoop with an extra $100.
Conclution I dont think black Oxfords are esentials and should not be boyght first, not an expensive suit that you never dear to wear and when you need it, it doesn't fit. You should start upgrading the stuff you realy like right now and wear. Wait the longest and spend the most on the stuff you realy need and are stylish, ptherwise you only goong to by the same thing over and over. If you first suit is a bit cheeper and you realy whant an navy blue it doesn't matter if the cheeper one is grey, you can wear it sometimes when you have the navyblue. But if you got 3 navyblue in the exact same style its not as deversive.

Add what you need, and donate what you do not intend to wear for the upcoming summer. It is interesting to check out the local thrift stores for blazers and odd jackets. Colors you do not ordinarily wear can be tried on in their mirrors. Take it home if it suits you or pursue it doing online shopping.

@Elijab Weaver. At the age of 85 I am not qualified to offer advice, but when I was a teenager I attended a College in Sydney Australia that not only had the highest academic and sports results in Australia, but had a dress code the equal of the English Marines (Commonly called Commandos) who are considered to be at least the equals of the US Seals.
My father's young sister married a Marine who was a superb athlete. What I remember most about him 70 years later was not what clothes he wore, but how he wore them. Every item of his clothing, that was a compulsory outfit fitted him perfectly and his gym shoes were spotless.
The Duke of Edinburgh, the husband of Queen Elizabeth made a written request that the Marines were the main party at his recent funeral. The newly appointed King Charles 3rx did both his flying training and commando training with the British Mariines and whenever you see a photo of him you notice his supreme self confidence. Sometimes it requires acceptance of a dress code, but no one can stop you wearing those clothes so that you look as impressive as any Seal.

i need to get cultured since a lot of my style inspiration is for durability and fit. I got a long waist, barrel chest and wide hips. Strong lengs and imo lanky arms, just trying to find something that looks proportional, jeans or shorts and a t shirt can be difficult. or hoodie/flannel. mostly muted colours unless im fit in the summer then a lot of bright colors and dolfin shorts. when im looking and feeling pudgy like porky, the staples are there the most i get style dues outside my norm are sorta cringe and edgy. Perhaps because its actually out of my comfort zone. if i had a better sense of self worth, id jump on it, but some of it seems like a single man's game. I'm single, but im also a dad, lower income, which im working on both giving a shit and doing something about my lifestyle/position.
For me, boots, cant fit in dress shoes, or rather find some. im more of a barefoot shoe or some reebok nanos.
i have more to say but its more to write down and think hard about for myself. For fragrance i have only two. A mist spray of Amber, and a hollister cologne SOCAL. thats it. besides deodorant or alum crystal.
After doing a lot of mental health and self care, even this is tough. Thanks, Antonio. Im 27 and its time to start taking the steps of real men and real style.

Hey Antonio, Love the channel and your comments. I have been upgrading my wardrobe for the last year and making a concerted effort to dress smart and stylish. Had a situation very recently where I thought I was helping my son move, so I was dressed in a Tshirt and shorts. Ended up he did not need my help. My wife then said friends invited us to a winery on the way home. I was mortified to be going to such a place in a dressed down outfit, but of course had no way to dress without going home and that was not an option. What would you have done?

Stopping to purchase a mildly suitable outfit was also going to make me significantly later than I was expected. Silly me. The title made me think this video would be about how to start from scratch. 🤦‍♂️
It's actually about restarting when you already have a wardrobe.

Great video, Antonio. I put it in my “Style” playlist as a reference.
Question: anything else I can do to protect the clothing I set aside for a year? I saw a cardboard box but I’m planning to store the box in the attic so I feel that alone won’t cut it.

Plastic storage containers are good --- Clothing stored in cardboard boxes for lengthy periods of time may also develop white or yellow stains.

Buying clothes: if it's not a "hell yes!" it's a "hell no." How many "maybe items have lived in my closet, unworn for month after month. Or worse, every time I put it on, I think "meh," and I put it back in the closet and never actually wear it.

Antonio question; I am a mortgage banker and I wear a lot of white shirts. How many white shirts should I have in my closet? Minimum

    • @Wizbrokun
      @Wizbrokun 2 роки тому +1

Two barrel cuffed and two french cuffed so you can rotate while the other pair is in the wash. And you may want one white OCBD and one in white linen.

As a Marketing Director I have 6 white shirts. Multiple meetings almost every day, this number of shirts allows me to have at least 2-3 shirts waiting to be washed, while I still have a couple of shirts that are fresh to be worn for the week. We wash shirts once a week in our house, so Im covered for the week.

I would hope that the gentleman would consider where he is in his life first before starting.
Also never throw away ratty clothes learn to sew (YES, men should relearn to sew.) that way you can up cycle from your former wardrobe.
