I gave my youngest daughter my 700 Remington .270, and she tagged her first buck at 12 years old. I hunt with my grandfather's single shot .270. He is always with me in the woods. Talking about hunting shows, I miss watching Backland Outdoors. They were into the hunt, not just killing things. Even when they didn't tag anything, they considered it a good hunt. They had fun outdoors.
Every man in my family started out with a Harrington and Richardson single shot rifle. We still hunt with them. Me and my dad have 44mags single shot and my brothers have 30/30 ,270,7mm08 and a 30/06. Love those guns !!!

Your 30-30 New England firearm looks almost identical to my 270 bore Rossi. My forestock is a bit thicker on mine. Great bush gun and if I walk out into a clearing like a field, I can reach the other side with no problem. Lol. Shot my first doe 3:30ish in the afternoon on the very last day of hunting season 30+ years ago with my pump 12ga. A deer hunter never loses that kind of excitement.. merry Christmas bud!
David I had a dear friend who was one of the best banjo players in the USA If not the best ! He beat the Nashville award winning bluegrass group banjo player at Galax Virginia bluegrass festival in the annual banjo playoff. He had multiple Nashville bluegrass groups wanting him to come play for them and he was destined to become one of the greatest banjo players of all time. But the deputy sheriffs found him dead at the bottom of the tree he was deer hunting from. What a waste of awesome talent he won every banjo contest he entered, he was the Eddie Van Halen Of banjo. But he wasn’t wearing a safety harness and fell asleep and tumbled 25 feet to his death. So for goodness sakes never again get in a stand without some sort of something to keep you from falling out of that stand brother!!!!! Merry Christmas David

Fine buck. That's how it works at times. Think the hunt club is putting so much pressure on them they're moving next door, lot of deer there.
Our homeplace property line was another state that didn't allow rifle season, bow and black powder due to it being so flat and distance even a 30/30 would go. The deer population then wasn't anything like today, some hunted a season or two before seeing their first deer, seasons were at least a forked buck, no does. Behind our house was a 5 square mile stand of timber we allowed hunting on. Timber ended about 3/8 of a mile from the state line at a gravel road but a creek ran to the state line with sparse bush along it through a pasture. Of course that's where I sat in a haybale blind. Those old cagy bucks didn't like all the stompers in their home area so they'd sneak up that creek to where no one was. At 14 I went in the state and Boone and Crockett youth record holder at 197 6/8.

Im from London, UK never hunted in my life. My fiancé if from MS Hattiesburg and i also have friends in Louisiana, New Orleans, So when i go over to meet parents it works out very well for me. Her grandpa wants to take me Fishing and Hunting and It looks like something id definitely be into, They also gave me some deer meat her cousin got and made into sausages. Very beautiful Place.
