A lot of people want to know what is the best clarifying shampoo for build up but before I can even answer that question, I need to answer "what is clarifying shampoo" first. These drugstore and professional level shampoos are treatment products used to for cleansing the hair and to remove buildup, dirt and debris from the scalp and hair.

Gabi, Gabi, Gabi... Thank you SO much for this video! I have (or had) beautiful gray hair. A few months ago I began using purple shampoo and conditioner after watching another one of your videos ~ game changer... Anyway, after a few weeks of swimming three times per week, my hair color looked drab and lifeless. So, I invested in "Swimmer's shampoo and conditioner," using it twice a week with my purple products once in between. Gabi, my once sleek, shiny, silvery gray hair is now dry, frizzy, and breaking 😲I want to keep swimming. So aside from discontinuing clarifying twice a week, what do I do???
Thank you for your time and effort you put in to help educate us. Can I ask I am 52 and coloured my hair since my mid twenties, I am on lots of medications that affect my hair. I use the redken ph acidic bonding system. I do have olaplex 6&7, is a once monthly clarifier ok to drop into my routine

Neutrogena makes a “clarifying shampoo” use once a week until hair perks up then every few weeks or so as needed. For example, teenagers with greasy rarely washed hair or men, can use it as often as twice a wee. ⚠️ If you have easily tangled hair, or long hair with highlights, I’d run some conditioner on your lengths and then shampoo the scalp with conditioner protecting the long ends. Curly girls especially! You’ll know…it’ll be easy to figure out. If you need it, Give it a go!

What would you recommend for itchy scalp? When I scratch at times, I get a bit of whitish residue. I have dry hair and use boxed dye for greys. I use Color Wow Dreamcoat and heat protectant while styling. I use Nioxin clarifying shampoo number 6.
Maybe go to a derm, i’ve seen someone on tiktok with the same issue and they just had a lot of sebum, they got rid of it with washing with a clarifying shampoo everyday but that can ruin your hair/scalp even more.
Dermatologist can diagnose you with what it is and give you the proper treatment.
Also maybe your allergic to something/something is irritating your scalp which is why you might get itchy, try maybe a natural shampoo and see if you still get itchy

I’m fairly new to your channel and hoping perhaps you may have an answer. I’m 60+ with noticeably thinning hair. I’m assuming it’s health related and/or medication. I color infrequently (only once since Covid) by professional. With that said, I do have build up on my scalp and it’s lifeless. My head itches often and I’ve noticed white film under nails after scratching. But I don’t feel there’s a dandruff issue. I also get bumps and sores. Would you recommend to use the clarifying shampoo for this?

What about the other side of hard water? Our water is so silky smooth from the water softener... do you know if that would create build up too?
I’ve noticed my hair gets less greasy when it comes to soft water but if you use something like dry shampoo or a really greasy hair mask, it can still stay on your scalp :))
