5th wheel. There is no motor to worry about. Had a 34 ft class A. For all the reasons stated in your video. Granted it was used. But after a while, the engine kept having issues and then transmission and drive shaft. With a 5th wheel, if your truck has issues, you can drop it off and still have your house. Not always the case with class A. And resell value is not always better on a class A. With the cost of the class A and limit to where it can be serviced vs locations and more accessibility to service a 3/4 or 1 ton truck feels more secure. Even from your video, livability seemed to check more boxes in the 5th wheel. I have a GD momentum 350M th I hope you enjoy your motorhome and your journey!!! 😊
I see Darryl driving a semi sleeper outfitted with storage boxes and a drom box. A Jeep on the back pulling a 45' Toy Hauler with his Harley in the garage. That's my dream setup. In the meantime, my F350 dually and 37' 5th wheel will do just fine.
Great video. The Class A has a couple of other advantages too. 1. When traveling the air conditioning is always running so when you stop you don't have to go back to a hot trailer. 2. When traveling on a rainy day you don't have to get out of the truck and run back to the fifth wheel, open it up, just to go to the bathroom. You just get up out of the drivers seat and walk through a nice dry motorhome to the bathroom. 3. The same thing when overnighting in a parking lot. If it's raining or cold out you don't have to get out. You are already in your RV. 4. In the Class A you have full access to the kitchen so the passenger can make snacks or grab cold drinks without having to pre make them and pack a cooler, which also takes up room in the truck and still isn't easy to get to while driving. For me my wife has to use the bathroom a lot. With the Class A there is no more pulling over at every other exit so she can use the bathroom. I get to keep driving and she can go as frequently as she needs too. She always felt bad making me stop so often. For us and our family the Class A is the clear winner. One last benefit of a Class A. We can run the washer and dryer while driving down the road eliminating the need to do laundry at night after we have stopped for the evening.
I prefer to avoid my home being impounded until I apply for and receive whatever state I am in oversize permit when caught by a state patrol officer who has accident investigation tape measure in the trunk. 65" is the maximum combined RV / Trailer / towed vehicle length in 90% of US states. It's only a matter of time when you get pulled over and a policeman measures your combo You are better off researching each state ahead of time you plan to travel in and apply for and receive an oversize permit so you can turn smokey's grin to a frown when he asks you to turn off your RV while he pulls out his 100' tape measure and asks your pretty wife to hold the end of the tape measure but you admit you are 70' and have a valid state oversize permit. These permits usually come in one time limited use, a specified date set or an annual permit. California's annual is only $90 while Arizona's is a whopping $360. Yes, separate permits for each state. It takes each state different delay times, so many of us over-length toy haulers rip of the bandaid and opt for a annual because then we have the flexibility to travel multiple instances without having to apply for multiple date one time or date window permits that are difficult to predict.
Absolutely amazing video! Very comprehensive and outlined all the main points! The only one that you missed was the need for a TOAD vehicle to permit travel around town when connected.
When we were using a class A, my wife and I could pull into or back into a camp site and have slides out, leveled and utilities hooked up and our chairs out in about 15 minutes max. Then we could sit there watching as a couple came in with there 5th wheel and after taking 3 or 4 whacks at getting it backed in just right and almost an hour before they were done setting up. Advantage: class A, every time.
We made a similar switch, but from bumper pull to Tiffin gasser. I agree with all of your comments. I think it's worth adding that the touch and feel of quality is higher on most Class A's than most trailers. I very much appreciate the solid weighty feel of pretty much everything. As a larger man, I appreciate the lack of flex in the floor. As a tired man, I appreciate that I can sleep while my wife moves around without feeling it in the bed. Another worthy point is climate control. It is so nice to show up at a location already cooled down.
How about a video of how you travel with the car and bike in the trailer. How you choose places to stay. How you maneuver in the RV park with the trailer and what you do with it once you are parked. I am on the fence as to which way to go and that could prove to be a decision maker for me. Thanks and great videos.
Great job on the comparison. We ran a 5th wheel for 20 years when we were working but moved to a Class A for full timing. We loved our 5th wheel and it served us well. However, one area you did not cover was the ease of set up and take down. This is also different for each individual but we have found for us it is much easier to set up and take down the class A. Thanks for the video.
We just upgraded to a Jayco White Hawk 32BH because it has a bunk room and half bath for our 2 daughters. It checks all the boxes for us. I’m so glad RV travel can be done in so many ways. I’m glad the Class A is working for you! 😊
Ty great video my wife and I have discussion all the time. We have a trailer now bi my often wonder if a class A would be better. I just love the ability to use the class A while on the road. In a trailer you can’t enjoy it until you park.
We always enjoy your videos. We have only owned a 2019 Tiffin Class A Open Road Allegro gas model & our toad is a Buick Encore. Our floor plan has a bath & 1/2, two driverside slides, washer/dryer stackable. Our motorhome mileage is 7 miles per gallon & our toad gets 30/40 per gallon. It’s ride isn’t as smooth as the diesel models, but our maintenance costs are a lot lower than the diesel. I really like the class A & since we are full time retired, we don’t have to worry about work stations. The storage is big for us & we feel we save on gas having the car to get around. It works for us. That’s what is so great about RVing…there is something for everyone!! Safe travels & hope to see you on the road someday 😊❤️🇺🇸
Y'all are awesome - May you have many more safe and happy miles!! My wife and I are 50-60 camping nights/year van owners. Mercedes 170 EXT with a Sprinter conversion. I keep an Oru origami kayak in the van's garage (plus other 'essentials') and carry a Vespa on a rack from the trailer hitch. I'll spare the rationale and use cases we based our decision to go with a van but it really works well for us now... All the best.
Excellent comparison. I have a class A and often travel with children. Access to a bathroom, without stopping, while traveling is one of the main reasons we have the class A.
Neither one will ever be in my future but I just wanted to say I really enjoyed this vid so much. It was very insightful and honest and clear. And y’all are just so stinkin cute…always. Be safe, Be blessed.😃👍💜
I have had fifth wheels and motorhomes a couple times been in situation‘s that are uncomfortable at night when that happens you have to get out of the trailer to get to the truck with the motorhome I can hop in the driver seat and go. Love my class a great video thanks guys
Great points in your video. We've had travel trailers and a gas class A. There are a lot of reasons that make a trailer a better choice, but for our family of 4, with school age kids, we tend to be moving more than staying put during summer vacations. Our 35' class A was much preferred over the trailers. I hope to buy a diesel pusher in retirement.
I did not know you are full time, that's awesome. I retired in 2010 been full time ever since. We are on our third rig which is a Tiffin Allegro Red 37 PA. Nice comparison, safe travels!
Great video there is no right or wrong only what works for you.We have a class a and love it the ease of setting up when getting to the campground is great.
Great video! I had a Class A (35’) and moved to a fifth wheel toy hauler (44’). From my own experience, those are all great points that I noticed as well!
Great video! You two are living the life I've only been able to dream of. I wish you both safe travels and fond memories, you are an amazing couple .Keep up the great content.
Thanks for the honest comparison. We currently have a regular 5th wheel but are considering a toy hauler in the near future. I do like many things about Class A - just not the price! Lol. - Mike and Shelley
We transitioned from a Class C to a Class A and now we have a Travel Trailer. The C and A were great in terms of efficiency, maneuverability and drivability. You have access to all of your facilities as you stated and you rarely have to get out on short stops. But… the travel trailer has a better and more comfortable layout. We have a rear living unit with a kitchen island and it’s great and spacious. We go away for weeks at a time and I too work on the road. We’ll likely upgrade the truck and move to a fifth wheel in the next 2-3 year’s. Great video!!
Hee hee You guys sailed right into RV'ing's oldest argument. It's just like Chevy or Ford, Hatfield & McCoy's or to*ma*to/to*me*to. Love it, Like you said, "It is what fits you best." I like my Class A because, I can tow the Jeep behind it with a towbar, but then I can hitch the boat behind the Jeep. I am ready to take cover as the shots will start for mentioning that.
Great video, and I'll agree mostly. I just sold my truck and toy hauler last week. I'm going to say I'll take the 5th wheel and truck over the class A we are in. Working on things in a class A is more complicated and way more expensive.
with a 5th wheel u can just unhook and drive your truck anywhere u want, so much easier than trying to parallel park a MH or worry about getting stuck.
Loved the video. We have a toy hauler; was debating on getting a diesel Class A. We have the golf cart, ATV’s, and motorcycles, etc. Our thoughts are the same as yours between the two but we are still unsure. For now we will continue to enjoy what we have😊. Safe travels.
We're currently in a Class A as we travel from NY to WA and back twice a year. Once we go FT, we plan to go to a 5th wheel. I love our Class A for all the reasons you've mentioned. And I'm hoping most of our trips will be shorter in the 5th wheel. I'll miss having a Jeep to adventure in once we get the 5th wheel, but the garage will be my office and our guest room. The model we plan to buy also has a loft in the garage, so that will be our storage. Our gasser doesn't have a lot of storage like the diesel pushers have.
A very nice comparison yes I do agree the Class A is the winner, you can always modify your trailer to meet your needs like an added retractable second story for more open interior space to work or entertain when the weather is about to change and becomes a little bit of a pain . dropping your trailer and your guest while keeping your Class A free of mess .
I think the toy haulers are better, now mine you I’m no expert at all but from all I’ve read up on having the use of your car outside of hauling is something that can come in handy. Regardless of what I think love y’all’s videos.
Currently have a momentum toy hauler. Been toying with class A switch, But can't bring myself to do it. Love the rear deck, and the ability to bring toys along. Another great video keep up the good work!
no white knuckle driving for u! plus MHs are more expensive to buy and to repair. with a 5th wheel, u can just unhook and drive your truck anywhere u want, so much easier.
Awesome comparison video! My wife and I, we were leaning towards Class A motorhome. Although we have done some comparison ourselves between Class A. vs Travel Trailer, however, your video pretty much sealed the deal for us on which is better for us. That being said, my opinion on your comparison video is this; after watching you two working on the RV table; Why do you have this HUGE computer screen compares to your wives tiny little laptop screen? 😂 Doesn't she deserve a much larger screen as well? Just trying to put a smile on your face... Please understand this is just my attempt at humor. Love all your videos and let me add that you two are lovely couple. Please keep those videos coming. God bless and Happy safe travel!❤
Great topic and as you said, it really depends on the individuals needs, wants, and of course budget. Thanks for sharing and see ya in a couple weeks ❤
Nice topics to compare the 2. It really comes down to what you want as an individual. We had the 42 ft tag class A. Now we haveva bumper pull behind F250. The points you mentioned were valid. The class A is so nice on a trip from both driver and passenger points. And manoeuvring withbthe way the front end steers can't be beat. Never tired on arrival and can actually be set up with a couple of buttons and a power cord. Other connections can wait. Boom. You are set.
We have a GD Momentum 410 and are ready to trade in for a Class A. Travelling with two dogs and moving every 3-5 days makes for a lot of work with a 5th wheel. Looking forward to a Class A
I agree with every one of your category decisions, even though we did the exact opposite as you guys. We had a 40' Berkshire 390BH "luxury" diesel pusher that was indeed very nice and I will concur that the air ride is great, it's quiet, with great visibility and perfect if you're traveling frequently, but a motorhome is just too small for us once we reach our destination. We sold our diesel pusher and switched to a 48' Voltage Triton 4271 fifth wheel. In our case, as a family of four with two dogs and my need to work from the RV during the day, the fifth wheel was a much better fit for us. We converted our garage to an office so I can work in a quiet environment. In our case (mid bunk room) our kids have their own computer room where they can do homeschool work or gaming, plus they each have their own bunk, my wife and I have our bedroom, and we still have 2 bathrooms, so there is plenty of space for us. The way we travel now, staying 1-2 weeks at a time at a location, the fifth wheel provides us all of the space and amenities that we need which simply don't exist (and likely can't exist due to the limited space) in a motorhome. Great video, it's funny how we agree on every single category, yet went in opposite directions, lol.
Good afternoon, I am very pleased to watch your interesting video, you are great, this is an excellent comparison video, thank you very much, I wish you good health and prosperity
You know from your Videos I liked your 5th wheel but the class A is gorgeous too. We do the travel trailer and like unhooking and exploring but each design has its advantages
Thank you both for the detailed breakdown of pros and cons. We currently tow a 30' Airstream travel trailer. But we are discussing us going full time in a few years once I retire. We love our Airstream but my wife is showing strong interest in a class A. One question. When the motorhome is in for repairs, especially if it will be in longer than just that day, what do you do? Stay in it at the repair facility, rent a hotel room, etc..? NOTE: I just saw you have a video on places to stay while your motorhome is being serviced. I think that will answer my questions. Safe travels!
Enjoyed the video.. we went from a class c to class A diesel pusher back to a simple class C Our needs changed but hopefully we will stick with the small class C…. Happy travels you two!❤️
The only thing of a motor coach with trailer is finding a space to fit it in. We would love to have one, but much of the places we go to don't have that room
Thanks guys, appreciate your 1st hand experiences and perspectives. I was wondering about your overall length when it comes to oversize rules and enforcement. We will be in a 40 towing a 22 or 24 so we will be over the typical 65' length limit. Have you experienced many problems with law enforcement and when you did, what were they?
We always had Fifth Wheels and loved them. We have never owned a Class A so I just can't say. I've followed your channel and love the units' you guys had. Stay safe, keep enjoying life and look forward to the next.
Love the video, very good points!! Was also wondering, with the length and size of both RVs how many campsites, boondocking situations and how do they compare! Can you find more places with the Class A (w/trailer) or Fifth wheel??
What’s it like driving your Class A with the large trailer? On the roads I’m sure it will be fine but what’s it like at camp sites and RV parks? I’ve heard some won’t let you in if you’re too big, has that caused you guys any issues?? Thanks
Personally I would go with a goose neck. Because of rough 2 tracks. Plus like garage area for materails or toys. The construction on goose necks is heavy duty uaually. The 5th wheel frames and suspension are built light weight at cost of strength.
It just sounds like you needed to choose a better floor plan for your class A to fit your needs. As a trucker who has lived in his truck an RV is a house class A a mansion shoots a van is a nice tiny home all better then a sleeper truck
Which type of RV do you or would you prefer? The Class A Motorhome or the 5th Wheel? Why?
I have an Alliance 40V13 th
5th wheel. There is no motor to worry about. Had a 34 ft class A. For all the reasons stated in your video. Granted it was used.
I have a GD momentum 350M th
I hope you enjoy your motorhome and your journey!!! 😊

I prefer to avoid my home being impounded until I apply for and receive whatever state I am in oversize permit when caught by a state patrol officer who has accident investigation tape measure in the trunk.
65" is the maximum combined RV / Trailer / towed vehicle length in 90% of US states.
It's only a matter of time when you get pulled over and a policeman measures your combo
You are better off researching each state ahead of time you plan to travel in and apply for and receive an oversize permit so you can turn smokey's grin to a frown when he asks you to turn off your RV while he pulls out his 100' tape measure and asks your pretty wife to hold the end of the tape measure but you admit you are 70' and have a valid state oversize permit.

I think the toy haulers are better, now mine you I’m no expert at all but from all I’ve read up on having the use of your car outside of hauling is something that can come in handy. Regardless of what I think love y’all’s videos.
👍🙌
Just an excellent comparison. Thank you.
👍👍
Currently have a momentum toy hauler. Been toying with class A switch, But can't bring myself to do it. Love the rear deck, and the ability to bring toys along. Another great video keep up the good work!
no white knuckle driving for u! plus MHs are more expensive to buy and to repair. with a 5th wheel, u can just unhook and drive your truck anywhere u want, so much easier.
🙌👍
Great video! Thanks for sharing your thoughts with us.
Very welcome!
Awesome video and information as, love you both be safe out there and take care
🙌👍
Awesome comparison video!
My wife and I, we were leaning towards Class A motorhome. Although we have done some comparison ourselves between Class A. vs Travel Trailer, however, your video pretty much sealed the deal for us on which is better for us.
That being said,
my opinion on your comparison video is this; after watching you two working on the RV table;
Why do you have this HUGE computer screen compares to your wives tiny little laptop screen?
😂
Doesn't she deserve a much larger screen as well?
Just trying to put a smile on your face...
Please understand this is just my attempt at humor.
Love all your videos and let me add that you two are lovely couple. Please keep those videos coming.
God bless and
Happy safe travel!❤
😂😂hey thanks for watching.
Great video as always guys. I just purchased a new Discovery and I hope to see you on the road one day. For us the class a is the winner all the time.
👍👍
Nice comparison and contrast video. I prefer the 5th wheel.
👍👍
Great topic and as you said, it really depends on the individuals needs, wants, and of course budget. Thanks for sharing and see ya in a couple weeks ❤
🙌🙌👍
having a class with a tag axle is a must. It allows you to have a bigger trailer to haul those things you want or need. A Newell is on my list.
🙌🙌
Great review comparing the two RV types. Thank you
🙌🙌
Nice topics to compare the 2. It really comes down to what you want as an individual. We had the 42 ft tag class A. Now we haveva bumper pull behind F250. The points you mentioned were valid. The class A is so nice on a trip from both driver and passenger points. And manoeuvring withbthe way the front end steers can't be beat. Never tired on arrival and can actually be set up with a couple of buttons and a power cord. Other connections can wait. Boom. You are set.
👍👍
Love the video! Sounds like a 5th wheel is the winner lol
🙌🙌
Thank you for an interesting and informative comparison! 👍
🙌🙌
Thanks for sharing, you answered a lot of questions.😊
🙌👍
Great comparison - thanks!
🙌🙌
We have a GD Momentum 410 and are ready to trade in for a Class A. Travelling with two dogs and moving every 3-5 days makes for a lot of work with a 5th wheel. Looking forward to a Class A
🙌🙌
Thanks for sharing!🙌🙌
Good afternoon, I am very pleased to watch your interesting video, you are great, this is an excellent comparison video, thank you very much, I wish you good health and prosperity
👍🙌
I agree with you, the class a is better.
Keep the rubber on the road and safe travels.
👍👍
Awesome video! Thank you! (Very cute couple, by the way! 🙂)
Thank you Surreal Design Solutions! Appreciate you watching.
You know from your
Videos I liked your 5th wheel but the class A is gorgeous too. We do the travel trailer and like unhooking and exploring but each design has its advantages
🙌🙌
Thanks Guys!
🙌👍
Enjoying our toy hauler for now, need to enjoy the toys more lol
👍👍
Thank you both for the detailed breakdown of pros and cons. We currently tow a 30' Airstream travel trailer. But we are discussing us going full time in a few years once I retire. We love our Airstream but my wife is showing strong interest in a class A. One question. When the motorhome is in for repairs, especially if it will be in longer than just that day, what do you do? Stay in it at the repair facility, rent a hotel room, etc..? NOTE: I just saw you have a video on places to stay while your motorhome is being serviced. I think that will answer my questions. Safe travels!
👍We haven’t had that issue John but yes many time people have to get a hotel and at times you can stay in your Coach while repairs are made.
Heyyyyyyyyy
Checking In
Excellent video on pros and cons
Congratulations on your class A
Safe Travels 😄🙏🏽
👍👍
Great video! We are in a Momentum and have been thinking of a Class A. I can see all your points being the same for us!
🙌🙌
Enjoyed the video.. we went from a class c to class A diesel pusher back to a simple class C
Our needs changed but hopefully we will stick with the small class C….
Happy travels you two!❤️
🙌👍
The only thing of a motor coach with trailer is finding a space to fit it in. We would love to have one, but much of the places we go to don't have that room
I understand Heritage Cowboy. It does make things a little more challenging.
Great video guys, good info and helps those trying to make a decision.
🙌🙌👍👍
Both are nice!!!!
Great Video.
🙌👍
Great comparisons. Thanks for the information.
👍👍
Good stuff!
Thanks!
No issues with is being 5 feet over in any of the states with that requirement.
Great vlog for sure.
👍👍
Do yah see yourselfer going back to living in a house with a yard and a pool one day after the adventure? Thank for sharing!
Yes we do Dave, just not sure when👍
Great video! Bea❤utiful couple!!!
Thank you!!
Great video!
🙌👍
Thanks for the info
Great video
🙌🙌
We always had Fifth Wheels and loved them. We have never owned a Class A so I just can't say. I've followed your channel and love the units' you guys had. Stay safe, keep enjoying life and look forward to the next.
🙌🙌
Nice video..how much is the total insurance and registration on each one?
Tow my F-250 with my Spyder RT in the back of the F250 bed with my Renegade Super C. Just found your channel.
Hey Runways to Roadways! Thanks for sharing. Love those 250’s. Thanks for watching!
Love the video, very good points!! Was also wondering, with the length and size of both RVs how many campsites, boondocking situations and how do they compare! Can you find more places with the Class A (w/trailer) or Fifth wheel??
Hey Terry, really about the same as far as finding places, if the 5th wheel would fit, so would the Motorhome! 🙌🙌
@@TollesonLife i copy that!! Makes sense!
explained very well. Our thoughts exactly. lol
🙌🙌
What do you do with the cargo trailer when your parked? Do campgrounds have extra areas for them?
Hey Douglas, yes when we have the trailer we choose parks that can handle the Rv and trailer and if not do they have overflow parking for us.
Fantastic 👏👏
Thank you! Cheers!
What’s it like driving your Class A with the large trailer? On the roads I’m sure it will be fine but what’s it like at camp sites and RV parks? I’ve heard some won’t let you in if you’re too big, has that caused you guys any issues?? Thanks
No issues due to the size, we just have to plan ahead and make sure the Rv park can handle it.🙌
The in motion Starlink would be great so she can work while you drive
👍👍
Personally I would go with a goose neck. Because of rough 2 tracks. Plus like garage area for materails or toys. The construction on goose necks is heavy duty uaually. The 5th wheel frames and suspension are built light weight at cost of strength.
👍🙌
It just sounds like you needed to choose a better floor plan for your class A to fit your needs. As a trucker who has lived in his truck an RV is a house class A a mansion shoots a van is a nice tiny home all better then a sleeper truck
Thanks for watching Evans Elaban! 🙌👍
