    Hey, everyone! Wanted to share a little something about our collab with AMD (they didn't know I planned to say this) - I'm very grateful for their willingness to be transparent with the performance of these APUs. It would have been easy to cherry-pick titles with super high framerates to cast the 5600G in a "better" light, but I really pushed for brute transparency in this one despite it being _sponsored..._ and AMD didn't push back at all. They were perfectly fine with us showing Dirt 5 in 1080p yielding ~30 FPS. And I still happen to think it's a heck of a deal - especially in this current market. Hopefully these tests help folks in search of an entry-level solution. Thanks for the support!

      that's cool to know. perhaps you have a good contact inside. Pays to have someone with engineering background as the CEO of the company instead of a marketing person.
      I think everyone knows what the current APU's capability are and AMD knows any marketing gimicks from them will just be terrible.

    I just went exactly this route to upgrade my workhorse PC, so it's great to see a video like this after the fact that justifies my choices :)
    I really like this build. Fantastic value for money. Boots in under 30 seconds (despite being a decade old W10 install). Opens browser tabs instantly. Does everything I need it to, and I can game over LAN with my kids without getting shot every few minutes. And it's *so quiet*! That really is the icing on top. I'll prob get a separate GPU if prices ever come down, but this is so good for what I use it for, maybe I just won't bother..

    Good evening Mr. Salazar,
    Two things:
    1. Thank you! Your Broken PC series has helped me to fix my son’s Optiplex 780 that I thought I had bricked. It’s a computer someone bought him to game on. Anyways, while I was trying to clean up the OS from a lot of…stuff, a defrag froze it for two hours and I risked a restart. When it restarted, it was beeping. Did some googling today, followed the beep sequence to figure out the issue. Well, clearing the CMOS and removing the RAM (and only putting one stick back) allowed it to start. I may have to replace the hard drive, but at least it posts and I get a picture.
    2. Because I thought I bricked his PC, he and I have been researching parts to make him a gaming PC. Because I CANNOT afford a GPU right now, we were targeting the Ryzen 5 5600G. Partially because of the GPU, but also I’m an AMD guy. There are some areas that I am skimping on, others I am not. Here are the specs:
    Motherboard: ASUS ROG STRIX B550-F Gaming WiFi
    CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600G
    Cooler: Vetro V240L AIO
    RAM: Corsair Vengeance RGB 16GBx2 3200 SL
    Storage: Western Digital SN850 1TB NVMe PCIe Gen 4
    Power Supply: Corsair CX650M Bronze
    Case: Corsair 4000D
    Fans: 6 Vetro 120mm RGB fans
    Monitor: Gigabyte 27” curved monitor
    Keyboard/Mouse: Some under $20 RGB keyboard and mouse from Amazon
    We have been waiting until around Black Friday/Cyber Monday in an effort to try and catch some deals and lower the price some. Right now, IF I buy the retail version of Windows, the total price for everything is right around $1,500. However, I am seriously considering your “ad” about vip sdkey. The reviews seem legit, and $20 is far less than $150.
    But I love your channel. It’s been 20 years since I was really building computers (I’m a programmer by trade), and your channel has helped rebuild that desire. And as an OCD guy, I LOOOOVVVVEEEEE you PCDC playlist.
    Hope all is well, God bless.

    My overclocked 5700G plays Dirt 5 at 1080p in the 37-42fps neighborhood, if that means anything to anyone debating between the two chips. It's not a huge difference but it makes the difference between playable and not in some games. Also, the history resolution setting is what affects framerate most. 1080p render and output resolution can still be done at 60fps.

    Built my parents a computer with this CPU. They have much more basic computing needs. They are not gamers or content creators but wanted something that will last 6-10 years. There were some lower end (i3) options and would have had decent prices, but availability wasn’t very good. What was available was more expensive then what had been selling on the market, eroding the value.

    I got me one of them to keep me going while I wait for GPUs to at least get back to somewhat reasonable pricing. With a bit of tweaking I have the iGPU running at 2350Mhz with 3800MHz DDR4. And I have dirt 5 for example with decent settings running at around 50fps. Doom eternal at 1080p high/ultra settings at 45-55 Fps. I'm quite happy with it so far.
    Overal with the ram and GPU overclock I'm getting around 25% more performance. I'm keeping the CPU at stock because there is no point in overclocking it until I get a proper GPU. I did try tweaking it and managed to get it to 4600mhz on all cores with negative curve optimizer and PBO +200Mhz and decent temps. Nothing extreme

    I am a little curious about the Memory amount listed in games as it never seems to go above 500MB. So maybe your bios or something is limiting it? I have this APU and was able to manually set it to 4GB for the GPU in the bios while the auto setting allots 2GB to it. Auto was the default for my board so I saw that 500MB and was like "what".
    I might be misreading some of the info but I found that odd.

And if so hows the quality of encoding to H264 in OBS vs NVENC? Also is using NDI comparable to using a capture card?

    Hello Greg and thank you for another video! I wanted to ask regarding the supported CPU's of this motherboard. You have mentioned about the need of an older CPU in order to update the bios. This specific motherboard has a bios flashback functionality! Why should we need an older CPU while we can do it with a flash drive?

    • @deebo429__
      @deebo429__ 2 роки тому

      Its safer. Flashing the bios wrong can brick the motherboard. Plus he has the ability to do so, and some motherboards might not have that option.

    • @Korkonakios
      @Korkonakios 2 роки тому

      @@deebo429__ for starters, I have mentioned about the specific mobo presented and not any motheboard. Furthermore, there is no safer thing as the instructions/steps to update bios via flashdrive is 100000% straight forward. Did more than 30-40 myself and never had an issue. My original question now was again about the presented motherboard which supports bios update via flashdrive(I did it myself a week ago without any issues) and I'm sure that this was simply a mistake by Greg.

    PC gaming is in a hard place right now, but give it another year or two of technology and an APU will handle 1080 high easily, and will look good enough at 4K using these new upscaling technologies for living room TV rigs. That will make PC very price competitive to consoles, and of course a PC can also do far more things than just play games.

      AM5 is out later this year but you probably need 6-9 months to sort out the BIOS/DDR5 compatibility, THEN you'll get the NAVI APU's this time next year earliest.

    I have a question for your recomendations. Why do you recomend to invest in so low components that can last centuries as long as they fullfill the requirements. I don't understand for example why in a build that is made to upgrade, you would recommend a 500W powersupply in 80plus Bronze which would be very much not enough for a 3070 or higher but has otherwise totally fine components to fit such a graphics card inside. I made exactly that what you suggested when i started building my first pc and just about 2 years later i had to upgrade my powersupply even though the lifecycle of the powersupply is not nearly used up and by doing that the buyer loses the warranty of the product und it wont be able to be sold at a good price anymore.
    The same i would say to such case recomendations, I fined it extremely hard to sell used cases because they cannot be shipped cheap and there are not easy to transport especially for people without a car. I think especially people starting with the hobby should think about their case a lot and chose a case that is a versatile in its configuration as possible to keep the freedom of changing their configuration. Otherwise you just lose again money when selling the old case and buying a new one.
