Great information as always. I always learn a thing or two with each video.
Looking forward to filter comparison.
I like your different comparisons and analyses, Ed. This oil analysis certainly shows that changing yearly with low hours is not necessary. The filter sure seemed to be more rugged than most filters. Thanks for providing the info! - Rick
Correction at 4:41 the spring shown there is NOT for PSI bypass. All that spring does is apply pressure to the filter to keep it seated in the housing. The PSI pressure relief is integrated as part of that cartridge. If you press in the center on the bottom of the cartridge, you'll see it push inward.
How's she goin'? Thanks for doing this test Ed!! It's pretty interesting and what it shows is very helpful. I like to change my hydraulic oil yearly, usually before the winter plowing season. It is expensive to do as you know and one year I even striped out the drain plug and had to spend about $300 bucks to get the drain bored and retapped. So this oil analysis test shows me that maybe going by hours wouldn't be so bad instead of changing it yearly even when only a few hours are on the machine. Thanks again and take care!!
Glad you found it to be helpful. Ouch on the cost of that retap too. I'm gonna be catching up on your boat house progress soon. I've gotten a bit behind this summer.
I have had my GC1723 for about 9 months but only have around 22 hours on it. Not sure if I will do a change at 1 year. 50 hours, yes.
That's why I'm an Amsoil man, ED. Synthetic for the win, then it's only all about hours on the machine.
This. Machine run time (hours/miles) is significantly more impactful to oil health than general time, especially when using high quality oil like Amsoil. I’ll change the fluids in my small engine machines every 2-4 years as most do not come close the minimum run time annually per the manual. I’ve been using Amsoil in all of my vehicles and small engines for 20+ years, zero issues.
Hey Ed! Are you happy with the turf tires on steep grass hills? Got any idea what the total weight of the tractor, loader, and a 60" belly mower would be? I'm considering buying a GC1725 with a single axle trailer.
I'm happy with them, but I don't have steep grass hills. In that situation, id use 4WD where needed versus going with industrial tires or maybe look into versaturf. As for weight, this video should answer all of your questions except for belly mower weight. ua-cam.com/video/goS7VzMNlds/v-deo.html. Most people recommend dual axle for frequent or highway hauling, but some get by with single for short and infrequent hauls.
I'm a little over a year but only at 200vhrs 250 is what I'm going for
That sounds like a solid plan, reinforced by these lab test results.
