My game version is the same as the one in the AE, so should i download SKSE for AE even tho i have the SE?
I just bought steam Skyrim SE and after installing SKSE for SE edition it throws error saying "You have updated to the Anniversary Edition (AE) of Skyrim" even though I clearly see that my edition is SE, not AE.
And if I try to install AE version of SKSE, it says that "You are using a newer version of Skyrim than this version of SKSE64 supports".
Will try to downgrade Skyrim and test which SKSE will work.

SKSE just hasn't updated with the new skyrim build. Wait till SKSE releases a new update to match the new build

@@ADHDecentI'm having a strange issue with conflicts in Mod Organizer 2 trying to set up SKSE_64 on my PC. All of the .pex files are suddenly flagged as conflicting in the Data tab and I don't have a clue how to resolve the conflict. Many of my active mods require Script Extender in order to work properly. I've re-downloaded it twice. I don't know if I need to completely uninstall SKSE and clear it out and start over. My Skyrim recently updated a couple days ago and now SKSE is not working at all. I haven't done the Anniversary Edition upgrade for my version of Skyrim because it costs money and I have already paid for the game. Bethesda is confusing me with their weird updating schemes.

I was really reluctant to use skse at first, since manual installations of mods are really quite daunting. Thanks for making an easy guide, this helps a ton

You know this is funny morrowind mods are easier to manually install than skyrim mods like that's insane
Ive watched many videos on installing this and none of them were as good as this one. I use vortex and that is where I was getting tripped up before. Very great explanation and you just opened up my skyrim to a whole load more of mods requiring skse. Thankyou good sir!

IT WORKS THANK YOU I seriously cannot thank you enough for almost a year I have always been bumbed out from missing out on so many mods that need skse64. But this guide really helped. It was a struggle but I ended up manually downloading from nexus instead of the official site because official site made me open it as a vlc player, not a zip file. Thank you again! Cannot wait to try all the mods I have dreamed of playing with!
No problem at all! I’m happy it’s worked for you and wish you the best modding! For future reference btw. You can change the default application to open zip files on Windows. Sounds like VLC is the default for some reason. Install 7-zip and set it as the default. You may need it for some mods in future!
I have over 2000 hours into Skyrim this year alone, and this is when I will conquer SKSE installation finally. I feel it in my bones.

So for some reason, it's requiring me to use the Anniversary Edition for Special Edition, even though I don't have the Anniversary Edition. Now it just closes when I try to run it through the Mod Organizer.
I am also having the same problem running it through Vortex. The program file location say that it is pulling the Special Edition and has no information as to why the Anniversary Edition is needed. Any luck figuring it out?
@@NUGZxzxz I actually managed to get it to run through Vortex right after trying to install it on Mod Organizer 2, funnily enough. It showed me that it was already installed and ready to go when I first booted up Vortex.
The whole SE vs AE is bs. Whichever is your version is what you go for.

You can use the AE size for special edition it's what I do because the special edition skse is a pain in the ass to use now

@@ADHDecent I already got lost in Starfield and my transition to Skyrim, while technically backwards, has helped. Very similar gameplay, menu, interface etc mechanics!

still doesnt work for me. I can run other mods but when I try SkyUI it says error code 1 and that skse isnt running

Yeah same here. When in vortex I have the right download but when I look in the mods menu is orange 2.3.3
I fixed it. The install instructions say to only copy that one folder if you’re mod (I forgot what it’s called) but you still need to copy and add it for SKSE to work l

Vortex says:
" deployment failed 72 files were not correctly deployed...
The most likely reason is that files were locked by external applications etc.."
But my antivirus is off!!!

Thank you! I've come back to the game to try the anniversary edition and for whatever reason vortex couldn't find the .exe to boot with SKSE. Needed to go back to basics and start from scratch, thanks for the no nonsense refresher course! :)

My problem is I downloaded 7zip but I have no right click options for 7zip
You have to integrate 7zip into context menu. Run 7zip as admin -> tools -> options -> integrate
The insinuation here is insulting and unjust.
The irony here is a quick look through the comments on this very video would prove that’s not true but accusations are easier I guess.
Yes, I am incredibly happy with those who say thank you, it really does mean a lot to me. This is a hobby I do in my spare time to help others. Knowing I can help is rewarding to me as I have struggled academically in life because of ADHD.
I get many many comments across videos that I simply don’t have the time to be able to read and respond to each one. And, that could include positive messages too. But again, this is a hobby in my free time. I still have a job and obligations as do we all.
Many comments contain questions of things that are easily answered via a quick Google search for example or even topics covered in the actual video itself that haven’t been given the attention to solve.
There’s only so much I can do. And I’ll never be able to please everyone so the best I can do is hope to help as many as possible and get them in their modding journey.

i did all this but it says SKSE is not loading and SKYUI wont work properly. Says something about the update could be an issue but i made sure everything was the Special Edition and not the Anniversary edition. I dont know if it's incompatible with some of my mods but i suppose its possible i might have to disable most of my mods and reenable them until i find the problem. I will edit this comment if i find the issue

Update I got it and it was automatically set as primary. I will be downloading mods now to see if it's actually working. Thank you for this I just needed an updated video

I'm having an issue when installing SKSE and even just clicking the SKSEloader executable without running it through MO2, an error message pops up saying "Couldn't find TESV.exe". Anyone have this issue as well? I've googled for hours and came up with nothing.

I find that incredibly unfair. If you were to look through comment sections across all my videos you’d find I have invested 100s of hours helping others with problems they have. Including time spent on Discord for those wanting help too. All in my spare time that I am not in anyway compensated for.
Unfortunately, many comments have problems that are either covered in the video itself, or covered in my troubleshooting videos available for people to help them. But many are not interested in taking the time to go through it all.
I try hard to help where I can without any obligation or responsibility to so that others can enjoy modding like I do. I receive so many comments across my videos that are incredibly insulting and rude for reasons I cannot identify which knocks you back.
When people let me know that the video is appreciated and helped them, it fills me with a sense of determination. Knowing I have been able to help. It motivates me to continue. In ways far greater than seen at face value.
This particular issue I can see regarding TESV not found is covered in my SKSE fixes video. It is down to the directory location either misplaced entered incorrectly. Your antivirus could also prevent SKSE executing commands. Especially if inside Program Files. Unless, it’s a cracked game version which means modding is not always possible. All of these are covered and solutions provided in my SKSE Fixes video.
Unfortunately, I simply cannot invest in responding to every comment all the time. Not only is it hard to just due to shear number, but the channel is a hobby for which I invest my own time into as a passion. I still work for a living too and each video requires massive amounts of time to condense information to get it down to the shortest time possible. Time you deserve to mod with.
I create to help others and I respect their time. Please respect mine.

mine doesnt have a 7-zip file with it when i access it??
I have done all of this and still recieve the error "You are using Skyrim version 1.5.62, which is out of date and incompatible with this version of SKSE (2.2.3). Update to the latest version."
Hey so I am trying to trouble shoot my Skyrim mods and it keeps saying that SKSE isn’t running properly, I bought the full Skyrim anniversary edition with all the DLC like stuff that comes with it. Do I have to do anything special because of it or is there a mod I need to run skse because of this?
got the following problem: own skyrim special edition on steam (not the anniversary one) and followed the tutorial. everything worked except when I tried running the game through skse like said in the video (using mm2). there it says that I need to update skse to the ae version, which I I dont even own. tried downloading that one but my game is still crashing and I dont know what to do, pls help

How do you run skyrim through vortex. Like start playing it through the mod manager
When i try to open up the game by itself it has the launch menu but will not load the actual game
what do I do if the set to primary button is grayed out(I checked and the its doesnt work) (i have done everything step by step mutiple times and I keep getting errors when i open the game)

Hello, i have been trying to get this to work for the last 3 days now. I have the Skyrim Special Edition if i download SKSE Special edition it tells me that i have upgradet to Anniversary Edition which i did not. If i download the Anniversary Edition it works with Vortex and i can set it as priority aswell but after lounching the game it just lounches without it. Even if i lounch skse without vortex it just lounches normal skyrim, I realy dont know what to do.
did everything exactly as the video says, theres no more conflicting files but im getting these notifications from vortex: Invalid primary tool (i made the new one with the target folder set to the loader.exe file in my skyrim folder), missing masters, and loose files may not load. I have been trying to get skyrim to work since i got my pc 5 months ago and i just cannot for the life of me get the game to actually launch.

Hi, I don't understand why before I install SKSE, my game starts with the dragon logo, after installing SKSE, the dragon logo disappears, and the game crashed when I clicked on new game. I followed your guide using the MO2 method btw. I'm currently new to this so hope you can help
