    Before jack links became world famous there was a link's brothers store in Minong Wisconsin. Bison burgers were my favorite. They sold frozen Bison patties like walmart sells frozen hamburgers. I loved them and when my dad went thru there he would get a couple of 10lb boxes. In 1978 and 79 I lived on those things. Best burgers you could buy. They had like 3 ft peperoni's that I would eat while watching TV. I stopped there in 2017 and got 5lb bags of old trapper beef jerky then went thru Durand WI to get hunter sausage at the local meat market. Best ever. They were better than the landjager in New Glarus. Wisconsin will sell you the best smoked sausage, brats and weird meat you will ever eat. Not sure if that's true any more because I have seen cranberry brats, YUCK.

    How long do you cook each side before flipping?

    • @BeergrYT
      @BeergrYT  Рік тому +2

      Depending how hot your cooking surface is, two - 3 minutes max. Once your first side has built up a decent crust, flip and add cheese. Once your cheese is melted, you're pretty much done. If you want to temp your meat, I'd shoot for 145 internal temp but it will get there fast if you're smashing them.

    Why does the bison work out by himself?
    He likes to get buffalone

    This is my first time making bison. Does it need to be seasoned??

    • @BeergrYT
      @BeergrYT  Рік тому +2

      Definitely, but season right before and/or during the cooking process. In the video, I just used salt.

    What if you have a Traeger?

    • @BeergrYT
      @BeergrYT  Рік тому

      No problem, just cook at high heat and if the Traeger has access to the flame, even better, cook it over the flame to sear it.

      @@Erinski hahaha well at the time of making this video, my griddle was the Camp Chef griddle but I’ve since upgraded to the Halo griddle, smoker and pizza oven. I also love the Monument Grills Denali 605 pro gas grill. For open fire cooking, nothing beats the Breeo! As for that little lady that cheers, she’s homemade ❤️😂

    if your bison is dry. you overcooked it. its a extremely lean meat. so it has no threshold for f'n up. its worse than pork in my opinion. very very fine line between still raw and overcooked
    (still use and love bison myself. one trick i will do sometimes is add a spoon of beef tallow. that extra fat will help prevent overcooking, but it can take away from the gamey flavor your might be looking for. or hide it. if you have people that cant stand that gamey taste)

    I just wouldnt make burgers with them....
    If a burger isnt flat juicy on the inside and crispy on the outside its already trash...
    Ground bison just doesnt have enough fat. Its better left intact.
    Infact my favorite recipe ive seen is just a pan seared steak like normal but no oven time and more of a char on the outside and rarer on the inside, almost raw still.
    Then thinly sliced and basted with a strong garlic, citrus, cilantro, hot chilis(or flakes) and minced white onion vinegrette.
    Let the marinade kill off anything that could've survived the cook then serve with basically any sauce. Even soy sauce will do.
